Thank you Dick for letting us experience your railcar. Not only was this a glimpse of history, but a story of great clever engineering to to upgrade the car to modern standards. Beautiful.
That’s a wonderful glimpse into a world that most of us would never see. Thanks Steve and Dick for taking us through the Sluter and giving us the tour. It’s like an RV on steroids 😁
Thank you Mary!!!! About the only two things they didn’t think of in 1914 was how to prevent World War One and how to prevent ocean liners from smacking icebergs
Interesting tool drawer. All the essentials. A really nice and detailed look into the golden age of rail travel. A special treat, thanks for taking us along. Much appreciated.
Thank you Steve for the tour awsome. Thank you Richard for preserving this piece of history keeping it in operation. Allowing us to see your treasures. Safe travels.
As far as I'm concerned, a private railcar constitutes the absolute epitome of luxury, and this car is no exception! A FIREPLACE?! The trimwork and crown molding throughout the car looks like an upscale apartment, this is truly stellar. I hope one day to be fortunate enough to travel in one of these cars. If it is God's will for me, I would love to own one later in life. Sure, it's a snail's crawl compared to private jet travel, but this represents an undeniable amount of comfort- and I can only imagine the sight-seeing. Super, super cool!
Certainly a great way to travel and for an updated car it has retained its glamour.(the only way to go) No doubt this car is probably one of the oldest private cars that is capable of Amtrak service. How about we take the car to the corner of the Royalston parking lot and make that your new broadcast booth? Just make sure you keep the toolbox properly filled
@@MillersRailfan I think you would have to be to own a 110 yo rail car. Or ridiculously wealthy. Probably both. Not there's anything wrong with that. 😆
Excellent...No train would be complete without a liquor cabinet and working rotary phone(s) on the cell network. Could you hit one of those Buttons and tell me what time dinner is ?? lol...
@ 4:35 I would have used chrome or metal drain tubes on the sink during the restoration to try to keep it looking "old" or original ..those new cheap looking PVC pipes ruin the look IMHO... overall this is a beautiful rail car of the highest order

I was super impressed with the kitchen and all the cleaver storage shelves and how well it all fit into such a small space...

fireplace in a rail car. That's wild..
