Why No One Smokes In Sweden
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 вер 2024
- As governments around the world strive to reduce smoking rates, Sweden has become a controversial case study in how best to do so. As of 2022, only 5.6% of the population still smoked. That’s the lowest percentage in Europe. Many give credit to snus, small nicotine-filled pouches placed under the lip. Snus makers say they’re safer than cigarettes. But policymakers and health advocates are divided over their use.

The point of the debate is this:
In a perfect world no one would ever use substances that are addictive. But we do not live in a perfect world.
For some reason, humans love the kick of nicotine. So why not give people the least harmful way of consuming it?
If cigarettes would be erased, and snus took its place, it would literally save MILLIONS of lives every year.

Snus causes less cancer but you can contantly have it under your lip thruout the entire day, causing an even more intense nicotine addiction. "Sweden low smoking rates is due to restrictions emplaced in the 90s" - That is a blatant lie!
The statement that Sweden's low smoking rates are due to restrictions implemented in the 90s is not entirely accurate. While it's true that Sweden implemented comprehensive tobacco control regulations in the 1990s, including the Swedish Tobacco Act in 1993 that banned smoking in public transport and public indoor places[4], the decline in smoking rates in Sweden began even before these regulations were put in place[4][7].
Moreover, the low smoking rates in Sweden are not solely due to these restrictions. The use of snus, a smokeless tobacco product, is prevalent in Sweden and is thought to have contributed to the low rates of cigarette smoking[1][9]. Snus has been legally sold in Sweden since 1976 and is used as an alternative to cigarettes[10].
Furthermore, the decline in smoking rates in Sweden has been a continuous trend over time, rather than a sudden drop following the implementation of restrictions[1]. Therefore, it's more accurate to say that the low smoking rates in Sweden are due to a combination of factors, including tobacco control regulations, the prevalence of snus use, and broader societal trends.

Yeah, it’s bad enough when people feel the need to tell others who are addicted to dangerous substances things that they obviously already know, but the amount of people who fear monger about using snus, vapes, etc. as a harm reduction alternative to smoking is a whole other level of ignorance imo. It’s like if you went to the local needle exchange to tell all the opioid addicts “y’know that stuff can kill you, right?”, like, would you rather they die from untreated needle-borne diseases like hep-c or overdosing because they didn’t have any Narcan, instead of taking steps that might help them live long enough to actually get treatment? It’s like they’d rather have the smug satisfaction of being “correct”, instead of just letting people use incremental, common sense approaches that will most likely benefit them in the long run.

I thought the same, and bigger shock was why they put it back in the box and put it in the mouth again 🤣 I was like wtf!!! Later I realized the container has other compartment for used ones 😅
Only Sweden sells real snus. Everyone else has nicotine pouches. You can't buy real snus outside of Sweden.
Try it
Tea bag 😂😂😂 is it that much big
Hurray for the Swedish Experience of snus that has helped make smoking obsolete!
In India🇮🇳, we call this Khaini.
Some companies, like ‘Chaini Khaini’ and ‘Cool Lip,’ sell this type of product.
It is especially popular among labor-class people.
Take that Indonesia! No seriously, take it, It's safer than cigarettes.
In India, people been using this “nicotine pouch” under their lips while smoking cigarettes 😂
In Alabama they use chew nicotine while drinking gasoline and mountain dew.
I've been badly addicted to vaping since 2016 and it's thanks to nicotine pouches that I've finally been able to quit. I don't even crave vaping at all anymore because I enjoy nicotine pouches way more and I never thought I would find an alternative that I would enjoy more than vaping and make me quit vaping because I have tried so many different types of nicotine replacement therapy. I don't know why the EU would want to ban a really good form of harm reduction. This is why I'm glad Brexit happened.
Because cigarette companies got lobbyists
The only problem... Its false statistics. Lots of people smoke in Sweden, pretty much all of the immigrants smoke. And that group alone is way more than five percent.
COUGH COUGH
Its actually not relaxing.. its a stimulant.
The only thing that relaxes you is the addiction being taken care off
I've smoked, cigarettes, cigars, and pipes. I never had an issue putting either down. But the snus is way more potent and addictive. You get a higher head rush, and better ability to focus than smoking too. And you don't smell like a chimney everywhere you go so there's that. It's like a few cups of coffee in the morning, is the best way to explain it. But I still worry about the long-term risk of cancer. If you don't have to do it, don't.
Ive been snussing for a bit while now, probably cause my grandad snus (lös) and my dad tho. Helps with stress, gives you a lot of energy at some point and its cheap and doesnt bother anyone around you, thats the best thing of snus, anywhere anytime.
If you don't snus?
you loose
You win
There is still tons of cigarette smoke everywhere, especially rude people at bus stops
How exactly are they rude?
@@incumbentvinyl9291They are smoking in the face of others in a place they are not allowed to smoke
haha, you use the bus? Plebs
@@bobkinschuypers9911 They use your mom too. On the bus
@@mrk5579 jokes on them, my mom has aids
Love this idea not blowing smoke to others around them!
While it's not accurate to say that no one smokes in Sweden, generally smoking is less common, and you spend money on both smoking and other expenses.
i saw it in Bloomberg orignal why Bloomberg re-upload same stuffs again and again
Prob has stocks in some snus companies
more views - more money
The Problem is Both are very Bad for Health. I was a professionell Baseball Player and we use to take this Kind of tobacco every Day . I am not shure if Mouthcancer ist better than lungcancer

100% swedish citizen .... 🦍
LMAO Det er det samme her i Norge også, vi blir invadert uten å være klar over det. Svarte mennesker må dra hjem igjen.
lol
CITIZEN, yes.
@@francisdec1615 *Sarcasm*
@@nostro1940 I understand that, but a better point would be to call her "a real Swede" or similar.
I'm from india and i use this kind of tobacco. I quit smoking
I was listening intently until they mention Philip Morris. The real culprit.
DAAAAAM chewing tobacco is going to the next level 😂😆
Lung cancer down,.. mouth cancer up!!
No, not really
It’s not good it’s goes right to your Blood and very addictive I lived in Sweden.
Börja snusa
bro smoking goes straight into your blood also. New snus usually has only nicotine extract without any carcinogenic additives. Nicotine isn't harmful in itself unless you suffer from autoimmune diseases
Wrong! Nicotine is harmful to the heart/cardiovascular system. Increases heart rate and blood pressure, its a stimulant. Puts strain on your heart.
Phillip Morris pays off the government with the huge taxes on cigarettes ofcourse they gonna ban snuz and nicotine pouches in most of europe 🤷🏻♂️
I used to smoke 2 PACKS a day, I quit then vaped for years.
Now I'm completely vape and smoke free for a year now. If I can do it, yall can do it if you really want to.
"Why No One Smokes In Sweden"
Literally 45s into the video: "...5.6% of Sweeds smoke"
😐
lowest of all europe tho
Are you suggesting that a country can only be considered smokeless if 0% smoke?
@@PingSharp yea good point right, it's ooooonly like 600,000 people so basically the same as saying no one does it
@@Carrosive These 5-6% are never going to go away, it is a type of baseline.
With that logic, you could say that everyone is always sick. Because the common cold, and even less dangerous diseases will always exist. "Have you really recovered from pneumonia though? There are still 400 trillion viruses in your body"
@@PingSharp lmao no, if you want to use a health analogy, I guess nobody ever gets the flu because it only effects a small percentage of the population? Infections are pretty baseline and a small percentage of the overall population so let's just say nobody ever gets it
If you Snuss you Lose....
If you Zyn you Win.
Is there a study if this will lead to oral cancer? 🤔
yea cause there's no tobacco in it. It's no different then sucking on a nicotine losange or niccorte from walmart or drug store
Studies are inconclusive. Some find correlation, others don't. If there were notable adverse health effects you'd think they would find it after looking for 40 years. Nobody should start using it but it's undoubtedly healthier than smoking.
then why should nobody start using @@hybridwafer
No, but cardiovascular disease
No, studies are often inconclusive, and a few of the studies that was used ages ago to push back against snus had smokers in the test group as well as not researching specifically swedish snus (which is produced and created very differently from e.g what americans would call snus). It's the number 1 reason why snus isn't labeled as "deadly" but merely harmful.
As for cancer rates, sweden has one of the lower oral cancer rates in europe despite all the snus that's consumed. And it's not like it's a new product either, it's been around since the early 1800's.
changed from smoking to nicotine pouches 12 mg, literally my well being doubled after that
😂😂 in india its called khaini 😂😂
Can't believe it has spreading in Europe also
No man, I don't think you can say it is taken from India. Snus itself in pouches i think is quite swedish itself, then of course you have pouchless snus, (which also exist) but i think that was taken/inspired from french back in the day. Then of course you can go beyond that and figure out who were the first ones to use tobacco this way.
??? My aunt from Lund smokes a pack a day.
try 2 packs of 30s , Chesterfield plain
BMA
Not Good!!!
Wow, went to Sweden about 11 yrs ago, was surprised how many women smoked.
Raw snus also works well and quite commonly used in India
Did you do this entire report without asking a single smoker in Sweden if they smoke?
This is indian equivalent of "खैनी" Indians have been consuming since centuries.
