I've watched a lot of these builds and I have to say your build is one of the best home built tear drops I have seen. You have a passion my man. Keep living the dream! Happy Wandering!
I love how Paige is jumping in a really contributing to this great build, using the Kreig pocket hole jig, glue plywood stiffeners, etc, not just holding stuff.
I honestly love watching people share their builds from start to finish. Not only can I learn, but i also just enjoy watching you create something from nothing. I must be getting to that age now where I want to start getting more into building things. I did a fit out in the back of my 4wd without any clue to what I was doing, and although it's not perfect it works and it was so much fun to problem solve on the go. My recent project is shaping surfboards from stsrt to finish. It really gives you an appreciation for people who master their skills and produce perfect finished products. I surf so just being able to surf my boards at the end is a huge reward for the time. Keep posting and sharing. Bloody awesome and thank you.
There is something very special about creating something from nothing. We live sharing our story and our main mission is to encourage others to do the same. Do you have any videos of you shaping boards? I’m sure people led would love to witness it, including myself!
Thank you! Let us know if we can help. We do have plans available on our website if your interested in cutting out the long planning phase! Or we can customize some plans for you as well. Either way, check out all the DIY teardrop communities on Facebook. They can be super helpful! Thanks for watching!
incredible you started in a garage and now you have a tremendous company you are an example for me because that is my dream thank you for inspiring me to make it possible...
That brought back memories. My build was very similar to yours, but smaller. Mine was 4X8 so I did not have to join any plywood. My hatch was built almost exactly like yours. It was more flexible than I wanted, but it worked. I used similar side doors, too, but they had larger windows. Insulation was not an issue, since I live and camped in the South. However, I built an air-conditioner into my teardrop using a cheap, 5,000 BTU "window shaker." I can't sleep if it is 85 degrees in my camper. From the outside, you could not tell it was air-conditioned, except for a couple of marine vents for intake and exhaust to the condenser fan/coil. I used FRP instead of metal for my skin. Not something I would do again, but it was cheap, and it worked. I used my teardrop to sleep in, and the galley to cook in. That's all. It was my comfortable "tent on wheels."
You said it perfectly! A tent on wheels. We love how it forces us to stay outside but at night when you have a bed to sleep in, in the middle of nowhere, it changes everything. We were tent campers for so long and can’t imagine going back. Where did you put the AC and how did you drain the condensation? We’re in The South as well. Camping without AC is not an option July/August!
I absolutely loved watching this video. Makes me want to build my own so badly but I'm disabled and I don't see it happening. I was thinking about getting a little fixer upper to try to do myself, but I would love something light for me to tow myself. I hate asking for help. I want to do everything myself, but I do not think I can build this myself. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy one so I can hit the open open rode. I've learned that life is too short, and too much I haven't seen. I want to get out there. Thank you for the inspiration. It's the perfect size.
Thank you! These little campers are life changing. You have everything you need to go anywhere, and you are correct - there is so much to see and do! Let me know how I can help you get into one!
A really great demo. No long winded preamble about what you where supposed to be demonstrating. Even using speed up video it still had enough visual info to show your method, great. More You tubers should do this instead of being a talking head. I've watched a lot of supposed builds that don't actually show anything. Your video is a beauty. thanks. I did turn the music off.
This video made me realize if I ever MADE a teardrop camper myself it would like much much much worse. Very nice job it is quality looking and I bet people would pay good money for one of their own.
Your trailer is a more superior than any I have seen yet. She is absolutely amazing 👏 👌I really hope you all have many many more holidays inside your awesome wee glamping van. l👌👌👌🌹🌹🌹
I like the small campers I just like the fact you hav to go outside to cook or whatever it can be cold out raining or snowing who wants to stand outside to cook and all that they should make it so that the outside kitchen can come inside make it rotate so now you can cook in its nice and cozy
One hell of a good looking teardrop you have there. You should both be very proud of that ! I love the quality touches like the aluminum skin on top. When you're paying its hard to swallow the cost of an Airstream but I suppose when you're doing it yourself its easier to afford some of the better materials. Excellent work !
Fantastic ,thanks for sharing . I'm looking at making a tear drop camper for my honda goldwing motorcycle ,this has given me the incentive to start Many thanks Dave from Scotland near St Andrews
Amazing! It’s a very fulfilling achievement. We sell these plans on our website wandertears.com. It weights about 1200 lbs so I fear it may be too heavy.
Those ???? Over the rear hatch was more like a thousand cuss words when I built mine. I built this same plan and had it since 2015 and still going strong! Wish I would have made a video like this. Fun to look back
AWESOME CAMPER! I hacked my lil camper together in a drunken stupor compared with this craftsmanship! BUT. I did dip every single stainless screw in clear silicone before driving it in the last time and glued every single joint and painted all wood inside and out during assembly of my rolling mistake! Great job brother!
Amongst so many videos and books - this build is the most descriptive and inspiring build. Will be my reference video when I start my build next month! Would be really helpful if you could include a list of tools used in the build in the description
I appreciate the kind words. We do have plans for this specific model. Slightly different (simpler) build method but all the tools, materials and cut lists are included. Check them out on the website wandertears.com/diy-plans. We have had many people get it done in less than 4 months. No experience needed.
I just subscribed! I didn’t expect to have so many views either . You need key words in the title and description, along with an eye catching thumbnail. You have a lot of great content!
You did a really nice job and there’s no question you’re very good at it. A little humor please take it as that. Man wears black shorts blue shirt, female in every new shot or new component added has a different outfit on, LOL.
in Alaska trailer like these cost over $14,000. So summer of 2020, my dad and I built one for, well would of been under $2,000 if we knew what we were doing, ended up being just over that. The biggest cost was a snowmachine trailer we built it on top of. We also made it easier and faster by squaring it, instead of curving it. Made it low as we could, inside about 3 1/2 feet high, like a tent. It's light weight and so nice to pull up to a site in any weather, and my bed is already. We saw a picture online, and said, lets try to make something like that. It was a fun project.
I can definitely relate with that! We were tent campers for a long time, but got rained on too many times. We’d come back from a hike and all of our gear would be soaked. Now there’s zero setup at camp, and we are protected from everything. 1000x better than a tent!
I've watched a lot of these builds and I have to say your build is one of the best home built tear drops I have seen. You have a passion my man. Keep living the dream! Happy Wandering!
Thank you very much. It took a lot of time and planning to build so we truly appreciate that.

Yes thats a beautiful thing❤
Love seeing couples doing stuff together

Absolutely one of the best builds I’ve watched. You have some serious skills and she seemed to be right in unison with you. Great teamwork.
Now I know why teardrops are not cheap. Lot of work, well done!
Awesome video it has inspired me to start building one love that u hand did it with jig saw and not a cnc
Dude's got skills and a cute assistant!
Wow,, that was some serious effort. The end result was really nice. Happy memories!

Great workmanship, awesome end result. But by far the best aspect of this video for me is that Macho Man tank top. Makes me want a Slim Jim.

Take the money you would spend on someone else’s labor and put that into quality materials and tools for yourself.
Now the materials are X 5 ! .... Excellent build and Video !
Great looking teardrop! Also awesome that you’re in Aiken! Evans here!
