You're a brave man Jeff! I'm really curious how the graphics output will work with this arrangement. I assume ST resolutions will require the built in monitor out but this will be useful for TOS programs that are "true to TOS/GEM" and extended via a TOS/GEM driver of some kind. When you get this up and running (glass half full :) ) - I'm curious which terminal / dial-up or serial port programs would end up working with this. The TSENG E4000 was my go-to graphics card after I initially moved on from the ST to various PCs for DOS gaming and BBS stuff..

The manuals I've read of other professionally made & commercially sold ST graphics cards suggest that the drivers have some way to redirect the framebuffers, so you only need the original screen for installation, but ofc that probably only works for "legally" programmed GEM applications that don't sidestep the AES/VDI and other OS graphics calls...

My understanding is that EmuTos, which I've been running all this time, has the drivers built-in, so the system will display boot screens on the high-res monitor. I gather that the support is fairly primitive still, until drivers are loaded.

Hey Jeff, all OK with you?
Last video is 10 months old, we would like to see the VGA working.

All is well. I lost a custom IC on the Atari and sidelined the project for awhile. I think it is likely the MMU. Since however I've acquired a Hewlett Packard 9000 D230 minicomputer with storage subsystem and terminal. The past couple of months have been interesting. Processor: PA-7300LC (PCX-L2), 512mb ram, 1mb level 2 cache, ten hot-swappable fast-wide differential scsi drives, dual fast-wide LASI scsi controllers.... I got NetBSD on it, but chose OpenBSD instead, primarily due to issues with the iee0 network interface drivers/network stack. I intend to post a video on that machine in the not-very-distant future.

Hey Jeff! It’s been a year or so since your last video. I hope all is well! I sold you a Percom drive a while ago that I saw you nicely fixed up, and I appreciate the little ‘disk switcher’ bundle of wires/connector you sent me for an Atari 800. Thanks for being great in the community!
