There is grooves in the ds carrier arms where the ts boxes handles lock. The ts boxes have spring loaded handles that will automatically lock with the ds arms.
Vincent # vcg construction put out a video showing you can't use the DS carrier with the 2.0 without it falling out if the boxes go forward hears his video I don't know how you figured out how to lock in place in the ds carrier ua-cam.com/video/4TJdB8Noj4U/v-deo.html

Yes the yellow trays hold anything with kiazen foam. Sockets, drills and whatever else you can imagine.
Didn't know metal was cheaper... I always thought plastic was.
The metal are more durable but the plastic latches look nicer
