The toughsystem 2.0 has half size organizers like the packout one you have your left arm on. They also have trays that latching in the medium box pretty nice. But like you said the packout is still an overall nice, easier to use system. Keep up the great reviews.

I’ve had toughsystem for a long time. And I recently bought that small parts organizer. I’ve experienced the same thing with the lid, especially the latches being in the way. Love all the rest of my boxes though.

it's like the 10th review on tool box system that I watch, and finally a good one. And the best tip in all that was about the roll out system. I had the same reflection and was having a hard time picturing myself rolling this thing inside someone's house in winter and bagging it in his wooden stairs, so that comment sold me. I'll most certainly look around your other videos! Keep 'em coming!

I’m neutral to the Packout system and I have been running it since the week it was released.
    Pros:
    - Connecting system works well
    - latches work well
    - all hinges seem robust
    - lots of packout options now
    - strong and extremely durable (systainers I’m looking at you....)
    Cons:
-Base options kind of suck (note: sucks a lot less now that they have the two wheel cart.)
-the only large case has wheels on it.
-Have to take out a line of credit to afford it. If you have a lot of tools and stuff to organize that is.
-no drawer options what the hell. (Nvm they have a drawer system now) 2021 release
-did I mention it was freaking expensive!
-huge and bulky, the interior volume of the cases tend to be small compared exterior dimensions.
-basically need a truck or van to carry them.
-pain in the ass to lock up.

You convinced me. I checked out your video thinking about going with the Dewalt 2.0. However, your excellent review convinced me to shift toward the Milwaukee. It seems light years ahead and much more usable. I liked how you sometimes kept it in the back seat of your truck and only took out what you needed.

i like the bags and totes they made for packout, but as a guy that runs around a lot in a construction site, they need to make a packout tool pouch. It will be so awesome if they can make the bins from the organizers just insert into the pouch and off you go. And then at the end of the job the toolpouch gets snapped onto the stack.

I only recently found your channel, and I'm still a novice woodworker, but I absolutely love your reviews. A perfect example of "why" was last month's Festool / Milwaukee comparison. That note about the forward/reverse switch on the Milwaukee... that's a deal-breaker for me. SUCH a great point by you. Every drill I've ever owned works exactly the same way. No reason to make that a switch on the top. And the fact that it won't stand up is also a big deal. In a day of working on a project, I might set my drill down several dozen times. Having to lay it on its side is SUPER annoying. Sometimes the only place in reach is a small ledge. That's the kind of stuff I want in my reviews.
If pressed, I'd also point out at least a handful of features you noted in your various PackOut videos that weren't covered in any of the several other videos I watched on them. The fact that the lid stays open. The fact that the edges inside the lid DO keep things from getting mixed up. (I think other reviewers just took that for granted, though not all cases will work that way.)
One humble suggestion: what I would really LOVE to see from you is just some "buying guide" videos. "Here is my drill press buying guide. Look for these features: 1) you want a swing of at least x. Let me show you why a swing of less than x will cause you problems. 2) There are a few ways to adjust the drill depth. These methods on some cheaper drill presses will work OK, but if you can get a drill press with an adjustment that works like this, it's SUPER easy to change your drill depth. 3) You will want to be able to adjust the tilt of the platform up to x degrees. Why? Making a cut like this for this type of project. Or like this for this type of project."
If you could make videos like that, then even if you don't have a review for a specific tool I want, I can know exactly what to look for. And your individual reviews would still be useful to confirm or deny how well that particular tool meets the criteria you set out, show any features you may have not thought of or something unique that tool does, etc.

I just discovered your channel and subscribed w/all notifications.
Incidentally, I just picked up the ToughSystem 2.0 stack from Home Depot yesterday. The good news is (and you probably missed them since even DeWalt's website doesn't list them) there are new 2.0 half-width organizers. The yellow tab at the top of the ToughSystem 2.0 box is a hook to catch one side of the new organizers and upcoming bags and boxes, while they clip in on the other side. I picked up two of those organizers yesterday (currently $20, regularly $25).
I've had the Ridgid modular system since 2014, the ToughSystem since 2016, and the Packout since 2018 and the Packout is far better than the former two. Currently, I'm sitting at about three Ridgid, four ToughSystem (three 1.0 and the new 2.0), and two Packout stacks plus miscellaneous boxes and organizers, along with a couple of VersaStak (T-Stak in red, more or less), err...stacks and other pieces. The only system I've had issues with is DeWalt's. A DS450 (large box on wheels) had extending handle issues (the handle would pull out too far), then a helper broke the side of the box picking it up using the side handles while it was loaded. Also, a couple of my smaller boxes have had internal bits of plastic break off. To DeWalt's credit, they replaced the large box with no questions, though it was a pain trying to ship the old one back.
If I had to rate them I'd say that Ridgid offers the best bang for the buck, albeit with much more limited options; DeWalt was an innovator early on and still offers a good combination of options and price point; and Milwaukee stood back, watched the other modular systems, and released a very well thought out and extremely diverse Packout system that costs at least 25% more than the other two.
With that said, I've got to find my drywall tool kit (in a Ridgid box somewhere), locate my DeWalt screwguns and cutout tool, and decide whether to load up the newer Packout or the ToughSystem 2.0 for a job this weekend. Keep up the great work!

I couldn't agree more. I just invested in the Milwaukee packout system today because I also made the switch from Dewalt to Milwaukee today. I love Dewalt. No issues with them whatsoever. But I am a mechanic now and that is fairly new, and Milwaukee has more mechanic tools than Dewalt, so the switch for me was necessary. But in the end, honestly, go with the brand you like best. They all have their pros and cons.

I only use Tough System because my tool system started with winning a DeWalt tool set that came with a Tough System case. There are only 2 things that I like better about the DeWalt system more: The rolling cart and the wall rack. Both of them use the nice grooves on the sides of the cases to hold them up, and it's also not terribly difficult to build your own rack systems to utilize these. The cost is a little better with DeWalt, too, but as your video shows, there's a good reason for that.

Hey man, I appreciate that clear and honest review!
I’m a Commercial apprentice down in New Zealand 🇳🇿 and we have what we call ‘New Zealand Tax’ for being so far away from everywhere else, that even after the exchange rate, tools are still more expensive for us. But in particular the Milwaukee pack out set is about 70% more than the Dewalt Toughsystem 2.0.
I went for the DeWalt purely because I couldn’t justify the Milwaukee for the cost vs what I earn… but this video does make me wish I COULD have the Milwaukee a whole lot more…

My step-father has had the packout for the past year and loves it. I finally just snagged the rolling base and the crate as an electrician, just to bring tools and material to the job site if I plan to be there for more than one day. The Dewalt Toughsystem 2.0 isn't worth it for the price difference, just cough up the extra dough up front.

For me I'd rather pull a cart around full of drawers that have my most used tools in them because you can pull the drawer open, get what you need and close the drawer back, you don't have to un stack to get what you need.

Nice review. I have the Ridgid system, but it’s no Packout. The Tough System 2.0 is a big improvement over the 1.0. Hopefully, Dewalt will make improvements in the 2.0 version of the parts boxes. One thing I do like in the 2.0 is that they offer stackable trays. That helps big time with organizing tools in the bigger tool boxes...

    • @MrStanwyck
      @MrStanwyck 3 роки тому +1

@oShane Kasper I agree.... I wish Ridgid would update their system with more offerings. They could also update the rolling box with bigger wheels, wider and taller telescoping handle that won’t pinch you hand when you stack additional boxes beyond the three that come in the set. I think they have the best crate and clear lid parts box.

Love my Packout. The only thing I liked better on my old Milwakee organizer was the lid. I mix and match and like boxes with all square organizers for screws ect. I put 6 rectangular ones in another box. The Packout lid bows with all square organizers. I was going to live with the bow except it wouldn't interlock. Small complaint but would love to see it changed.

As someone who has invested around $1000 into Tough System 1.0, I found it to be a great system at the time. As time passes I am finding it harder and harder to justify Tough System when comparing it to Packout (not taking into consideration price). Before the announcements in September, I wouldn't even have considered Packout. Without any solution comparable with Tough System wall racks and drawers, I felt I couldn't make the switch. If I had to start over and money was of no issue then I would most definitely go with Packout since we are getting the e-track shelving and the drawer units.

I’m just getting into these systems. I got two rigid stacks, one for my drywall gear and one for my painting stuff. The one thing that was important to me, was being able to access something in the middle without unsticking everything. As far as I’ve seen, only DEWALT does that with its hand truck thingy and wall mounting system. Does this feature work well?

You are definitely entitled to your opinion, and I agree the Packout is top quality. The #1 thing I'd say for Dewalt is that their 2.0 is not really out yet. You are comparing bin organizers from Packout and Dewalt 1.0. The price difference is ridiculous, so of course the Packout is going to be better. For this review, you really can only compare the 3 Dewalt 2.0 containers with the same 3 from Packout. If you still prefer Packout, then that is fine, but comparing 1.0 bin containers to Packout is really not even fair. The bottom line is that Dewalt just needs to come out with more 2.0 products and fast. I look forward to your review of that in the future.

The ToughSystem 1.0 drops in to place much easier than either of the pack out or the 2.0. But then you have to latch it afterwards. And I’ve used my 1.0 as a sawhorse or work table multiple times. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to do that with my new 2.0.

My big complaints with the packout are how the organizer boxes aren't the same width as the regular storage boxes. The other complaint is that none of the packouts really do a great job at storing certain items, like my deep cut bandsaw and framing nailer.

As an owner of the Tough System, I’ll admit that Packout is better in terms of stacking. However, I’ve had racking systems for my TS for a long time (maybe 4 years?). I didn’t need to stack them. I wanted a modular wall of boxes in my van and then again in my enclosed trailer. And Dewalt’s TS was wayyyyy ahead of Milwaukee in that department. That’s why I have the Tough System, and it has worked well for me.

  • @Jeziorski7
    @Jeziorski7 3 роки тому +3

Decent review. I agree the Packout is better than the Tough system. Couple points tho, One the organizer is from the 1.0 and its not actually a 2.0 product. Im guessing they will make it for a 2.0 which will be much better. With bins yes the Packout ones feel better being a thicker plastic but with the way the feet go into the bin and having the lid lowered in sections to keep the bins from moving is a good idea but that also means you can't fill the bins up and you need to leave space in all the bins. So you may need to fiddle with them to make the space to close the lid. The Toughsystem 1.0 came out before the Packout. Which means Milwaukee had the time to look at their competitors and make theirs better. I mean wouldn't everyone? With the boxes themselves, of course Milwaukee has way more options the 2.0 just came out and Dewalt hasn't even released all the pieces that they showed during their demo like the trays which I think is a great idea. Ive also heard the 2.0 boxes are lighter which I feel is a great pro for them as the boxes get heavy when you need to lift so many that are loaded up.
All in all both great systems and I feel you can't go wrong. Overall I would say the Packout is the top dog but give Dewalt time to get their new line out before you really compare apples to apples
