Why We Don't Teach Readings (yet!)
As mentioned in the introduction video to this series ( ua-cam.com/video/RKWrWRFyfYo/v-deo.html ), it is my philosophy that it is a WASTE OF TIME to learn the readings for each kanji in isolation. I explain WHY in that video.
To learn how to read kanji, I think it is best to learn WORDS that contain that kanji in the context of SENTENCES. We WILL be doing that in this series, after learning the meanings and writings for the 118 kanji in the JLPT N5 and Kanken 10 tests.
So fear not! You WILL be learning how to read them in the near future. 😊
I think your reasoning for not teaching just the readings is valid, but by skipping them outright even with example words for the first series of videos it feels like you’re making it harder on people later down the line because they’ll have to learn them for the new kanji and retroactively learn the ones they missed. I don’t know what you’ve got planned for handling vocab later on, so I cannot really say it’s a bad thing, but I think it would have been better to introduce meanings in some way from as soon as episode 1. Great videos none the less!
for 早 I came up with: "When it's early in the morning, I use a ten staff to take off the blinds and let some sun into my room" I imagine the 日 radical as some sort of window. My story for 草 is just a continuation of the previous: "When I wake up early, i can see the weeds and grass thru my window". Hope this helps someone!
One of the pleasant surprises I had with Kanji is that there comes a point where what you already learned starts to actually help with learning the next batch of Kanji. Just knowing the parts makes them less daunting to learn. Eventually, you also start getting vague feelings sometimes of "Oh, this part reminds me of the pronounciation somehow. This part looks like a reminder about its meaning."
It's overall more rewarding than I had expected!
I like how in this video, new Kanji really build on the Kanji learned right before. It's like RTK, but ordered in a way that is actually useful, considering the vocab that beginners are going to learn. (As I'm sure was the intention.)
I also like that historical evolution is getting attention, but *limited* attention. I'm using "The Complete Guide to Japanese Kanji" to look this stuff up because "spending time" with the Kanji and learning stuff adjacent to it can be useful for memorization. But lot of times, the evolution is unclear or there are phonetic or other reasons that maybe made sense to the people 1500 years ago or the Kanji is the result of an arbitrary simplification process. Point being: you're correct in leaving lots of stuff out.

Thank you for this playlist and lessons! When I've started to learn Japanese, Kanji was the only part which I reeeeeally was afraid of. But with you it's so funny and easy to remember :) Can't wait for the lessons with words that contain that kanji in context

I an learning Chinese and 早 means "morning", I've remembered it as the horizontal stroke in ten being the ground and the vertical stroke being the arrow showing that the sun is rising
So I I’m interested in your online course. I was wondering do I need to buy the Genki books? Or does your online courses provide all I need? If I gotta buy them, does the edition matter? Thank you

The Sun wakes up " Early " every Morning.
To me the Sun Character looks like it's stretching its Hands and is almost yawning. Like it just woke up.

Around 25 I believe.
The story I made for 交 is that father loves to mingle with homeless people, since I made "pot lid" jnto homeless person😅

Is it mixing two substances or just socializing?
Mostly socializing, but also used when things blend together a bit.
This kanji has both meanings in common so it’s the perfect word for it.
