    Why We Don't Teach Readings (yet!)
    As mentioned in the introduction video to this series ( ua-cam.com/video/RKWrWRFyfYo/v-deo.html ), it is my philosophy that it is a WASTE OF TIME to learn the readings for each kanji in isolation. I explain WHY in that video.
    To learn how to read kanji, I think it is best to learn WORDS that contain that kanji in the context of SENTENCES. We WILL be doing that in this series, after learning the meanings and writings for the 118 kanji in the JLPT N5 and Kanken 10 tests.
    So fear not! You WILL be learning how to read them in the near future. 😊

    門のところに立って音を聞く

    音 Standing above the sun you can hear the sound of it screaming. 間 You measure the span of time by looking for the sun through a gate. 聞 Pressing your ear to the gate you secretly listen in on the conversation (You get caught because they can see you through the gate).

    If anyone is looking for a story to remember 門, you can just think of it as a pictograph of a torii.

    just now I realised you if you "stand above the sun" there is no 音 because you would be in space.

      maybe remember the screaming sun from Rick and Morty. That thing sure makes a lot of sound.

    yeah my story for listen is someone pressing their ear to the door/gate to listen to the gossips they're saying on the other side

    With 聞, I've had to stop using a felt tip pen for drawing and switch to a smaller rollerball. It's like upgrading from crayons, ha.

    i wanna ask something.whats the diffrence between きや、きゃ、and きあ in pronounciation?

    • @ToKiniAndy
      @ToKiniAndy  3 місяці тому

      きや is 2 moras (like syllables) long and sounds like KI>YA. きゃ is 1 mora and sounds like Kya. きあ is 2 moras and sounds like KI>A. Each full size hiragana needs to be pronounced exactly the same length. They don't blend like in English, so they are all quite different.
