    Love you man, you are a genius. Been in Florida 11 years, and still haven't landed that "whoppa ", lol, thank you so so much for the info. Just pulled up the tide chart, and about to get my rods ready and head out. Only 15 minute drive. Will be second time today at the beach this year! Been a rough year for me. Your video was the first in Google that popped up when I googled asking a specific question of "what time during the tide is best time to catch fish". YOU, my friend are a Godsend and a blessing. You sound like a kind soul, with a great heart. Bless you man. This means the world to me. Life is too short, and heck, you are only a stone throw away. Would LOVE to fish with you some day! the sand i wish ours were as long as the worms you are catching, anyway by for now. Take care and stay safe my friend. Les Ogden.

    Thanks for the info Roger. Nothing new but confirmed my suspicions. I was taught when I first started fishing that the tide change was the best time to fish as the water movement changed direction and started removing sand exposing food for the smaller fish much like what you said about the whiting. Also at tide change it's easier to hold bottom with less water movement again as you discussed with your 12 stages of the tide (an interesting chart sort of figured out something similar through time but again you've factulized it). This all worked when I fished the south coast of WA, now I've moved to Perth and fishing different waters I've found wind direction the most important thing as the beaches can get very weedy if the wind is coming from anywhere westerly. But for tide times I've started using a solunar chart which is more around the rise and set times of the moon. It is not the be all end all but worth looking at. What your thoughts on the Solunar chart

    • @RogerOsborneFishing
      @RogerOsborneFishing  2 роки тому

      Hi Todd, thanks for your comments and info about W.A. I currently don't focus on the Solunar chart so can't really comment.

    Ulua fishing in Hawaii….We found most bites are at the peak lows and peak highs (we called slack tides).
    But anytime you can go fishing? Just go ..no matter the tides…that is the “best fishing times”…is when you can go fishing” Aloha
    Our style is 24 hours because some species only bite at days ,some bites only at nights, and some 24 hours…

    Hey Roger
    Love the channel!!!
    Could you help me as I am new to beach fishing... Do swells play a role in beach fishing e.g if the swell is too high or low and the sea is too rough would that make it a waste of time trying? And what would the ideal conditions to go down and give it a go? I'm hoping to catch salmon since it's winter now but not fussed if I catch whatever comes out :)
    Was hoping you can help.
    Thanks for all the great info!!!

    • @RogerOsborneFishing
      @RogerOsborneFishing  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Christos, Yes the size of the swell plays a role in beach fishing. Above about 2m is really getting too big, there is too much movement of water and if you add strong wind to it, then forget about it. Ideally I like around 1m of swell. When it is flat, there are no features, no whitewater. In flat conditions it is best to cast really close to shore.

    Hey Roger, I have gotten into beach fishing recently with astounding results over the past 2 weeks. Last Friday I caught my first salmon and also a 30 centimetre bream in the same spot. However what I thought was a deep gutter appears to be made up with a truckload of seaweed. I have noticed that there is a gap in weed right on shore. Should this be the place I persist and target. Or do I try different parts of the beach with less weed. Also I have been hooking lots of sea weed but also hooking big fish. I am torn between staying at this spot and putting up with the weed or moving somewhere else. Hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanks jonah
    Ps: I am pretty sure I lost a good sized mulloway with massive headshakes and I got the bait back which confirmed it wasn't a shark.

    • @RogerOsborneFishing
      @RogerOsborneFishing  3 роки тому

      Hi Jonah, Thanks for your comment and questions. Regarding the Seaweed, a little bit of weed is ok but if you keep hooking it you should move to a weed free part of the beach. The weed moves around the beach with the tide and currents. Sounds like you're having some good fun !! Cheers Roger

    My question is more about the Tides and not about fishing. There is a beach nearby my house that I go to for photoshoots and to fly my drone. Most times I am there its low tide and I can walk out along the beach but there are times when I go to that beach and its clearly high tide with the water all the way in to the shore line and no way to walk out on the beach. In terms of Low Tide at the beach when the Tide chart says Low tide will be at say 9:00am. Is that the time it will be at its lowest meaning I would be able to walk out onto the beach, or should I wait 1-2 hours past the Low Tide time so in my example, would I go to the beach around 10-11am instead? I am just trying to get a better understanding. Thanks so much!

      Darren Morgan
      This is for the east coast ( west coast the wind directions are reversed )
      Westerly winds that are prolonged knock the swell down and this leads to a beach with little wave action , clear water and tends to fill in the gutters .
      Easterly winds have the opposite effect up to the point where the swell gets too big to fish the beach .

      Hi Darren, I haven't heard that saying before but I know that a straight easterly on the east coast is the worst wind for fishing or surfing. Roger
