    Hi everyone! I'm a big fan of matching affordable guitars with affordable amps, and it annoys me when other people don't do the same. The rig I use would cost around £1500 new, but I managed to find the entire thing for £500. So, shop used to get more bang for your buck!

    • @Metallex

      @@brianvillage5 It's not about the money, it's about creating the expectation of sound and aligning the cost of the guitar to an amp to create a realistic expectation of what someone who might buy this guitar could expect to hear through an amp that's in a similar price bracket.

      It's just such a risky thing if you have to buy used online even buying used in person you may not find the flaws that are making the guy want to sell it in the first place until it's too late

      Whe. It comes to acoustic or acoustic-electric models, always go with brand new Yamahas. They are super super slept on. Most of their models are in a insanely cheap price bracket (yes, there are some that are thousands, but if tou actually play and really know guitars, for the quality, sound, and craftsmanship of what you are getting is awesome( and 100%, on par with Taylor or Martin in terms of quality AND tone and I'm not even joking. For electric guitars, Prs or ibanez are pretty dope. Idk, I can find great models in many companies. There are some I would stay away from though.

    I have the same guitar in pearl white-, such an excellent quality ! Hardware on it is very good, real metal knobs, progressive pots, nice bindings. If someone gave it to me for a blind test prior to buying, I would say it’s 2k guitar. My guitar tech cannot believe pricing level/quality on it. Roasted neck, jumbo frets and hot rails is killing combo!

    Glad you like the pickups. I am in love with the bridge on clean tones with reverb. The neck is dark, and I don’t chug, but the three positions offer a real variety of sounds. I got one in pearl white (gunmetal would have been my second choice), my first guitar having borrowed my sons mustang. And I am still amazed that I have so much guitar and such special tele, for the money.

    • @Metallex
      @Metallex  2 роки тому +2

      The cleans on this are insane, and I've been jamming a whole bunch of CCR on this as well. I didn't quite manage to capture the magic of the neck pickup on the crunch and lead sounds but this particular instrument is far more resonant than anything I've ever played. I also didn't expect it to handle high gain this well either, I just wanted a cool Tele but this is a great rhythm instrument for heavier stuff too - crazy versatile!

    I got the same guitar in the same color, I also replaced the string tree and saddles with a graphtechs, and black planet waves locking tuners.
    I also like the traditional pickguard so I put a vintage style 5 screw black bakelite one on, it fits perfectly.
    So it has a Duncan standard type tele neck pickup now, I think it looks better, with a nod to the old and the new roots look.

    Great review, I just bought one today, but I've not really used it yet, it just stood out in the shop against far more expensive guitars. I sold my old tele a few months ago and regretted it since as I love the feel of a tele, but play metal and this thing fits the bill perfectly. Really looking forward to getting to know it better

    Loved the look and sound of this so I ordered one in pearl white. Unfortunately it hadn't been QC'd at all. Damage to the binding at various locations around the body, fretboard had blemishes all over it, but worst of all the lettering on the headstock is stickers and 2 letters were missing. I just returned it didn't tune or play it I was so disappointed. Such a shame it's out me of completely. Thing is my old Squier affinity strat was and is still immaculate.

    Great review thank you! I play clean the majority of the time but do like to play metal from time to time. I’m trying to decide between this and a Player series double Humbucker Tele (or maybe a PRS Standard). How do you think this Squire would compare?

    • @Someone-uv3wm

      Do you think it would be versatile enough to be my one and only guitar to pretty much cover all genres of music?

    • @Metallex
      @Metallex  2 роки тому +5

      @@Someone-uv3wm Ooh, that's a tough one! The Player series, even with HH, will get you closer to that 'classic' Tele sound than this guitar will. I think a PRS SE Standard is a decent comparison to this guitar, especially the neck - but it's all down to individual taste and I prefer the neck on this guitar, least of all because it's a satin finish and not a sticky gloss.
      It's certainly very versatile, one thing for me that isn't as easy on this as it is on other guitars is playing lead, but I could probably lower the action a bit further and it'd get me there. It is a great guitar that covers a massive range of sounds - best bet for yourself is to dive into a guitar store and try a bunch of stuff out!
      Also, who only has ONE guitar? ;-)

    I know I am late to the party, but I bought one of these and I wasn't crazy about the fact that there was binding on the neck because I kind of liked around my maple however The binding is supposed to be to cover the front ends so that they don't stick you in the. Well somehow from the 12th fret on up on the treble side which is exactly where you would not want it the frets are over The binding and they are sharp and jagged and somewhat sticking out it is very slight but enough for me to feel and enough to catch my rag when I wipe down my neck and rip it. Due to unforeseen circumstances I have kept us guitar too long to return it so I have to find a way to repair. It is driving me crazy and I would like to know if YOU anyone has any advice? I know bring it to a luthier and pay a fortune for him to attempt to fix this problem but I am in a place where there are not many of those except for guitar center which I have not had that much luck with in the past! • @Metallex
      @Metallex  2 роки тому +1

      Heya Theodore! I'd definitely say to try each guitar to see what your preference is, although finding one of these in a showroom is like finding hen's teeth at the moment. Just on paper, for shred I'd recommend the RG421 over this. While this is a phenomenal guitar and sounds great, the thinner Wizard III neck as well as the full 24 frets and a proper heel cutaway at the neck joint will most likely serve you much better as a shred machine. The RG421 will also be a bit lighter, and the body will be more contoured for comfort (especially on your picking arm, there's no contouring on the top side of the body). The guitarist in my band actually has the RG421 with the Walnut top so I've played them both :)
      Good luck, hope you find a guitar you love!
      Edit: The RG421 will also have DiMarzio pickups above a certain price point as well, which I personally find to be clearer sounding than these SQRs.
