Can't help but feel that this song is for Askeladd himself. He pretty much carried the whole show and really was the playmaker and kingmaker.
Slimy bastard deserves nothing but death. Askeladd was not a character I liked at all. Hate when they try to justify what the character did with a backstory that make you sympathetic. But I wasn't sympathetic because everything was a scheme for him. He kills his friend towards the end too. He seen everybody like a chess piece

This song really is for Askeladd. "I'm the one who makes my final call" Everything pretty much always went his way, and even though so many people were after his life, he still got to choose how he died and could have avoided it had he wanted to.

I didn't care for Askeladd at first but not only did he grow on me he became one of my favorite characters. I loved the finale.

This whole anime/manga is such a refreshing experience from all the others. A very well-knit realistic (ignore Thorkell's physical feats or the full-armored people being cut in half) story based off on real people and historic events. I believe it has set the bar up too high, I hope we get more content like this.
Vinland Saga is a once in a decade kind of anime. I don't think anything like it will come anytime soon.

You can try Golden Kamuy, maybe you will like it, but ignore the bad cgi bears we see ^^ It is strongly linked with history (1900’s Japan) and the fights are more believable even though, it’s still a manga. But it’s way goofier than Vinland Saga despite having a bunch of murderers as protagonists xD

This first half of the season was thorfinn thors and thorkell ...the second was entirely canute and askeladd .... such badass characters all of em and I've heard the manga is one of the greatest in sienen ... can't wait what they do in s 2

Askeladd's story is over but Thorfinn's is not. And since Askeladd was a key part in Thorfinn's character weeeeeell... Suffice to say that his effects will still be seen after his death. I absolutely recommend season 2
