    Michelle Kwan will always have a special place in my heart, and her Solomon routine at the 96 worlds is my favorite figure skating performance of all time, period.

    Michelle Kwan at 13 was the sole representative from the U.S. that year for the ladies. She carried the sole responsibility of trying to end up in the top 10, so that 2 skaters could go the following year. She accomplished that. The U.S. was so proud of her.

    Her program is better-programmed than Nancy or Tonya’s ones.

    Just had a thought. This East of Eden LP was a good strong program for its time. I wish she could have brought it back for 2002 season.

    Michelle Kwan is my all time favorite female figure Skater. Even to this day she is still my favorite. At the time My favorite female (and favorite ) Gymnast was/is Shannon Miller.

    I always cry when I watch this. Just seeing her have this early success on the world stage under immense pressure. Kudos to that family for making the sacrifices and for not being "skater parents." You can see even from these early days that Michelle skated primarily because she enjoyed it and not because she felt obligated. Doesn't hurt that she became one the most successful people in her sport. She is a true legend.

    Baby Michelle Kwan is the best and I LOVE how the family, especially Danny Kwan, are all so open about their pride and happiness for her

    I was kind of disappointed in Frank for saying she had poor ''vocal skills''..and that she wasn't listening to him. I think Michelle was doing all the work here, and it's not fair to place timelines on an athlete of this quality. They mature when they mature

    @intldawn LOL, if you only really got to know Danny Kwan between 1995 and 2004...

    another reason i'm glad the rules changed...... she skated better than everyone that placed above her....... ridiculous, and those scores are asinine. by today's rules she would have won a medal.

      Oh please. Jumps small and with no flow, only about 4 clean and weak artistry and you call this the best? Better than the skates of Sato, Bonaly, Szewcenko, Kiellmann in the final flight. 8th was about right, even when you look at Leray who placed 7th it was better overall. Liashenko was probably weaker but had a much better short so also placed ahead.

      LOL the only person who placed over her she might have skated better than is Liashenko who was 6th. Humphries though who placed behind her probably should have placed over her.

      David Robert Brown she had more than 4 clean jumps… are you blind? Not saying she skated better but you are being obviously biased

    @3Axel1996 I remember distinctly after Michelle won Silver in Nagano 98. She said "I hope my parents still love me". Just a subtle indication of what was really going on behind the scenes

    • @LiamForeman
      @LiamForeman 5 років тому +1

      What she said was she hoped her family still loved her, and proceeded to name her mother, Karen, etc but noticeably omitted Danny. Kind of upsetting to see a 17 y/o girl talking like that.

      Are you insinuating if her fam loved her after she captured silver ?

    • @debrakateri2979
      @debrakateri2979 4 роки тому

      Liam Foreman I’m sure she wanted to do the best she could for her fam and herself . I highly doubt her parents hated her

      It is typical of Asian heritage skaters. Remember Tiffany Chin's Mom? She was far worse than Kwan's parents ever could have been, no matter how bad they might have been.

  • @intldawn
    @intldawn 14 років тому +1

    @3Axel1996 Really? What do you mean? I mean, the Kwans didn't seem like other skating parents like Suzanne Bonaly or Tiffany Chin's mother.

    Getrealandsee, how many more comments will you post until you get 'Kwanatically' demented? You belong in the list of the most incompetent inbred joker.
