Had the same luck in the Frank Church two springs ago. No sign whatsoever. Went up to Lolo and found tracks, but then had to head home to Michigan.
You'd think at least some poop would be around but... nothin! Long drive from Michigan
And I thought "is that a grouse or rock" couldn't be topped. Bear or stump!
This fall I might even play "is that a log or a mule deer" 😁

I went through a similar struggle up here in BC but eventually got er done. Came across some fresh bear sign and not to far away got a nice cinnamon bear. Hoping to get one more before the season ends at the end of June.

Was that a tick???? Oh man, you just have to amputate from the knee down. Dang....hate those things! Ok bears....let me say this, I have absolutely refused all my life to hire a guide. For me hunting is about doing it myself not paying for it. And without exception, every species I have gone after I have succeeded. EXCEPT black bear. I've seen mountain lions, bob cats, mountain goats, wolves...just about everything there is out there but have never seen a black bear in the wild. Just weird. It has not been for the lack of trying and I'm sure they have seen me ha ha. I have just never had one in the binocs or scope. Such is the vicissitudes of hunting....
That was a tick. They were EVERYWHERE. It was unsettling! You should put out a black bear overlanding film... I'd watch it haha Thats crazy you haven't come across any bears. Tell ya what.. when I go for mule deer this September, I'll get a bear for ya!

I enjoyed this but I have to say that the music volume caused me to have to raise and lower the volume of the video about 10 times. When you're whispering, I turned it way up and then without warning, suddenly the music was interjected and I had to turn it way down. My only constructive criticism.
Here's one other suggestion. Stay in camp, cook and eat and drink and "bait" the bear to come to you. Then blast him and take him home to divide up. Seems like the most expedient way to hunt.
