I've seen a lot of this before but there was still some things I didn't know about, like Francesca and Frankie walking around below the map, NOT lined up with the other unused characters. Also yeah a lot of characters were clearly not meant to be seen from behind- but I do like the idea of giving back-sprites to characters that didn't have them originally- I've done that for some characters like Vivian. You should try something like this for Super Paper Mario, I know that game also stores unused characters below the map but only when they are needed for a cutscene in that particular part of the game- not every time you enter the map. Whereas in TTYD and PM64, they will always be loaded in the map regardless of whether it's time for their cutscene or not.

0:51 Suddenly we're playing Miitopia instead of Paper Mario TTYD. 1:45 There is a variant of these enemies called Dark Craw, so the regular ones should be called Craws, even though it's never said explicitly in the game. 2:55 Wonky is a pretty weird character even for this game. 4:12 This book with the Super Mario RPG map looks so good with this texture pack! 6:13 In many games something that big wouldn't always be there, so it's a surprise that it actually is. 6:25 After all the faceless characters, this was unexpected and hilarious! 7:35 Sometimes you can see characters running like this even while playing normally and it's always quite funny! 8:07 So Grubba is the only one here going around literally half-naked... 10:15 If I recall correctly, the first time I played I got the pink one, but I really like the blue one! 12:03 Is he actually made of multiple parts like the other characters or is he just a single sprite because he's a ghost? 13:09 Yep, I remember the glitches/tricks involving characters below the ground in the original Paper Mario, but I forgot that it worked like that in this game, too. 15:21 Too bad that you can't actually interact with them, but it's still pretty fun! 17:21 It's really weird, probably the only time it happens in the game. 18:34 This one's pretty famous, because of course everyone tries this when they can change the camera angle. I love this game, so it was a pleasure to watch this!

@@MariasWish Hi, sorry for replying about 6 months later, but to wear Waluigi’s costume, you need to find the Luigi Emblem found in the Poshley Heights Museum. Once you’ve found that, equip it in the badges menu. Next, go to the merchant in Rogueport, close to Zess. T’s house. Then once you have both of them, equip them at the same time, and you’ll be Waluigi!
The storyboarding in Paper Mario: TTYD is based on location or singular action. If you go to specific locations throughout the game, or hit a key interactive element, the game's progression will be triggered. For example, that pipe leading to the Sewers is probably flagged to advance the game state to after your tutorial battle, if the game state is before that at the time or if it's the first time you've entered that specific pipe. I would argue the latter because most flags aren't specific to your *current* game state, just to the first time a certain action is performed. This handling of the storyboard leads to many possible instances of sequence breaking.
I think the reason of why the NPCs look so weird from behind is because they're always facing the camera. While other ones such as the mousers look normal because they walk more freely around the map and they have to show their back sometimes.

Hi, ZX. I’m curious about two things, if you’d be willing to share any comments or observations about them. First, how does your camera behave when you take it into one of the 2-D Bowser levels? Second, I recalled that every so often during battle, a Shy Guy in the audience darts “backstage” behind the battle and causes an object to fall. What’s interesting is the “natural” camera always follows the Shy Guy, briefly panning to a side-view angle-the only use of that visual effect. Does your customized camera show anything interesting or different if you employ it while this unique Shy Guy camera sequence is going on?
