This Venya guy speaks PERFECT American English - like, utterly flawless. The guy must be some kind of language savant, because even most British film actors don't do American accents that well.
Benjamin .Heneberry Oh yes every British still laugh out loud with Dick Van Dyke performance with Cockney accent in Mary Poppin. And we had this American lady Tracy Goodwin who worked for 'Expert village' explaining to American people what to do to have a perfect British accent. For sure she was a star during an ITV program as a clown not an expert in reducing accent. See pn youtube Graham Norton How to speak perfect British English with Tracy Goodwin.

I am convinced that hack n. 9 is the most critical. I cannot view myself speaking English while thinking in my language (Italian). I used to do it during those summer study vacations in the U.K. when I was a teenager. The communication process had been time-consuming and messy, and I ended up looking for other Italians students, there was plenty of them, and I did not learn much. After graduating from hi-school, I moved to Boston for six months to learn English. As the months passed by, I became surrounded in an English environment (living in an American family, all classes and textbooks entirely in English, being forced to talk to survive, etc.), I first started to dream in English and then to think in English. The only weird part is that when someone asks me to translate from English to Italian or vice versa, I am confused and not used to switch among the two idioms. Either I am in the English mode or the Italian one, I'm not able yet to rapidly interchange the two languages, maybe someday, in the far future, I will.
Hello! My name is Alua, and I’m from Kazakhstan, but now I study in Korea as an exchange student. Thanks a lot for this informative video, and I would love to see more!
OMG, I love your videos. I just discovered you (them) an hour ago. I am like you in a similar way. I've finished a long-term project of completing an Indonesian to English dictionary but only based on 164 of English's most commonly used irregular verbs ...the dictionary (actually I call it a reference) is about 20,000 words at his point. I have 5 more volumes planned along the same lines. After finishing my first one, I thought it would be great to have audio along with it thus I began thinking about UA-cam and self-publishing. I have been learning, learning, learning and learning for a month now. I have this vision of teaching 1000 Indonesians how to speak like either an American or British (and I guess Australian) native speaker in 200 days (by mastering one 5-7 minute video per day watched 3 times) and also hooking learners up to other sites as yours so they can reach their goal of becoming a native speaker in 200 days. I know that if I could get my gear and team working I could produce 200 videos by December. I can make the content but I am not good at editing sound or videos and I could also direct thumbnails etc as its just time-consuming. I would like to have an investor and have a few people to talk to. I have a good team (that I can't pay at the moment. Nor do I have the appropriate equipment (but have put it all into a business plan and know what I want.) Regardless, having said all that. You and your team are inspirational. Thank you for your work. I will monitor your work and when my viewers reach video 40-60, I will be phasing the use of Indonesian out and will begin be directing them to sites like yours to help them (and me reach my goal of getting them to speak like a native speaker in 200 days. God bless, love your work. Share a prayer for Mr. C in Indonesia.
Phonetic is important but phonology is more important. Phonetic is how to pronounce an isolated word , phonology deals with all the changes in prononciation in a phrase.
When I see such a gifted guy like Venya, I realize that I will never be able to reach such a point. Especially when he says that English must be felt, you don't need to memorize and put a lot of effort into it. These words discourage me from continuing learning English. Congrats. Anyway, that looks amazing.
Thank you so much for this amazing video i really enjoined it. In the past I thought I could never sound like a native speaker but now i do believe I can.
thats crazy, Marina i could tell isnt native but she speaks almost perfect English with no accent but this guy is insane! sounds just like an american from the south east coast
I have been noticing a lot of comments about how he looks or his ethnicity not that is really matters but from watching his vlogs of him in Russia I think his mom is Russian Russian and his father is Korean Russian. Regardless this guy's english is perfect he has a better accent than me and I'm a native speaker, would not have guessed that he was Russian or that he only came to the states 4 years ago. I know a lot of Russians/ Ukrainians who have been here for 10 years and still speak with a heavy accent. Outstanding!
These videos are very good and effective for learning spoken American English.I have been trying to learn it for many years in my life.I studied countless grammar books.I spent thousands of hours listening to different radio broadcast from bbc to via.however I think I did not get the necessary confidence until I happened to find Marina s videos.i have recommended these videos for my children and many others who come to my office.keep up the good work Marina
I'm a Chinese undergraduate, watching loads of youtube really helps me improve my accent. Just pay attention the little lingustic details, common verbal words and structure. And just seek opportunities to talk more with native speaker.
That's a great video!! I love it!! And one more thing I want to share with you, learning phonetic is really important, I learned that when I started learning English again independently, it helped me a lot to understand and sound more like native speakers!

I don't know what to say. I love to see marinas video. But today I can't focus on my learning language. My whole concentration on the guest. How sweet he is! Ops sorry how adorable his accent is 😛
Nice video! I came here around the same time as him and I got rid of my accent pretty quickly as well (not as perfect as him of course). Here's my 2 cents to all the newcomers who are trying to speak better Amercian English: Try to mimic what native speakers say rather than how they sound! I'm talking about the way how people would construct a sentence (in a spoken fashion), when and how to use slangs and all that. The problem with correcting your accent too early is that, native speakers may not suspect you for having a language barrier but instead they might think you're slow or having learning handicap because you're talking too slow or taking forever to respond. In that case, they probably wouldn't want to listen to you especially if you're trying to get into some in depth conversation. This is coming from my experience and it may not apply to everyone since we all have different learning curves, but I believe it's one issue that we all have to take into account. Thanks!
