Oh my god, I love that you kinda put it as Stede's perspective on Ed at the lyric "as if you were a mythical thing, like you were a trophy or a champion ring, and if there was one prize I'd cheat to win" cause like. Ed doesn't really view himself worthy of fine things cause they're just "not those kind of people" and little does he know he's literally the finest thing in Stede's eyes and I'm just *screams in the distance*
