Every "Ed interacting with an insect" moment is highly relatable as someone who gets sensory overload from the sound of buzzing and has screamed like that at a fly before
Rhys Darby said in the Only Runners podcast that he thinks he has undiagnosed ADHD, and that some of the things he does are "spectrumy", so I'm pretty sure he actually is ND. I don't know about Taika Waititi, but I get big chaotic hyperactive ADHD vibes from him. 😅
Imma be a knight if we can choose. Or maybe a landowner like a Duke or duchess or Lord or Lady. That being said Flamingo Queen 👑🦩 is my social media/gamer tag 🤷🏼♀️
I'm autistic myself, and it's honestly nice to feel like I can relate to both of them in some ways without the show explicitly mentioning autism, since I don't usually have that with most fictional characters I actually enjoy watching. Loved the compilation!
going to am event and wondering how to "win" is the most relatable thing ever as a neurodivegent person who struggles with normal social interaction 😆😆
Everything in this video for some reason feels validating. I've been thinking I'm on the spectrum but can't really confirm unless I get tested first but all their behaviors in this video feels like things I've done in the past or continue to do.
honestly, i already knew i had ADHD when i made this, but in the process of making it i realized i was also autistic. i’m so honored you found this edit as validating to watch as i found it to make 💜
Self diagnosis is valid. It’s a super autistic thing to research autism (unless you’re being able list and promoting eugenics and then you’re Autism Speaks)
I don't know why but this is my comfort video. this is my 6th time watching it this week. I have ADHD and most of my friends are nuerodivergent, and anybody that says Stede isn't autistic and Ed doesn't have ADHD is wrong
i have been sitting here trying to figure out how the heck to respond to this gorgeous comment and all i can say is WOW, this made my entire week. i’m so honored to have made a video that brings you so much comfort! the process of making it was very validating and illuminating for me, and it pleases me greatly that other neurodivergent folks are feeling the same way 🥹 THANK YOU for this comment, i will treasure it!!!
stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim stim 😂 and of course that got me doing my hand flapping "THIS MAKES ME HAPPY!" stim
As someone with ADHD, I don't know how I didn't pick up on all the nd content of this show, and now I've found this, I love this silly little show even more 🥹🫶🏼 I laughed so much at this for how relateable it felt and I learned about a new aspect of neurodivergence as I'd never heard of echolalia, so thank you for the laughs and education! ❤
Love it! This past year, I've (finally) been realizing that I'm most likely autistic and ADHD, and I've been lowkey processing that through, what else?, pop culture. It's been wild to discover just how many of the shows I've deeply loved over the years have such Big ND Energy (ex: Doctor Who, Parks and Rec, Pushing Daisies, Good Omens)--it's like the fandom side of my brain was trying to tell me something all along! I love Our Flag Means Death so much, and I realized what an ND power couple Ed and Stede are just in time to go stir-crazy waiting for season 2, lol. This video scratched the exact itch I was looking for: so many perfect examples, and I love your little additions, especially the echolalia counter and the commentary on the "Blackbeard's Bar and Grill..." conversation. I think I'm gonna watch it again right now. 😀 Thanks so much for making this!
This video is utterly wonderful. I've been obsessed (would hyperfixated be the right term?) with this show for its queerness, but hadn't even realised how much I was relating to the ND characteristics of our favourite co-captains! Thank you for making it 😊
the sleeve flappy thing ed does is literally just stimming!!!!! mans was in that tight sticky leather for years and hoooo boy here comes some flappy fabric!!!!
I didn't clock Ed's echoing when I was watching because it's just so direly normal to me to repeat like just a couple of words after someone says something you need to retain sometimes or if it's just a very good string of words, but yeah no you are in fact 100% correct. I can't un-know that now. Same hat, leather pirate! Same hat.
This is everything, I couldn’t put my finger on why some of these scenes hit different lol my sis and I just had such crisis watching this and realising it was the fck autism/ adhd again.
thank you for edititng this masterpiece. (I rly wanted to add a sparkle emoji but my computer is not letting me T_T) the adhd vibes are immaculate and the editing is the cherry on top :D I laughed way too hard at the zoomed in clip of stede falling out of bed lmao
so i just learned what echolalia is and im having a literal crisis right now. here i was, thinking it was just the hyperfocus/obsession part of it.... fuck
Ok so I didn't know what echolalia was until this video, and now I have to thank you so so much because now I have a name and reason for the thing I do that annoys people all the damn time. I've had so many arguments with my brother about this that has caused me to actually consciously try to train myself out of it. I thought it was a stupidly irritating thing that only I did but no! So thank you :)
Me personally i hc them both to be adhtistic, in some ways they are the same and with others they are like on opposite ends of the spectrum (behavioral wise) ??? ihope this makes sense i am high outta my mind rn srry,, lovely video btw
"who would win: one man's sensory overload VS. another man's special interest" is probably the most important sentence ever spoken
100%.

"spectrumy" im crying 😭😭
I love them both so much, I also love it so much when they both internally freak out over how long the Act of Grace is
Ten human years is a long time...
"I don't know what this is but it isn't neurotypical" so correct king /not gendered but you can be any type of monarch you wish
"(or straight)"
I usually say "royal" when I wanna make it nonbinary
Imma be a knight if we can choose. Or maybe a landowner like a Duke or duchess or Lord or Lady.
That being said Flamingo Queen 👑🦩 is my social media/gamer tag 🤷🏼♀️
The way fucking Stede falls off the bed fucking kills me he is such a disaster
I'm autistic myself, and it's honestly nice to feel like I can relate to both of them in some ways without the show explicitly mentioning autism, since I don't usually have that with most fictional characters I actually enjoy watching. Loved the compilation!
i can recommend watching bones, its five autistic scientists and their pet fbi agent but they dont explicitly say it, its just painfully obvious
‘I dont know what this is but it’s not neurolotypical (or straight)’
That sums up the show
"edward teach born on a beach" has been such a stim phrase for me for the past week, i'm glad its included here. we love our nd gay co-captains 💜💙
ME TOO! Absolute glimmer- can't stop listening to it
SAAAAAME
SAME BEDTIE SAME! It’s my latest vocal stim and I think it’s starting to get on my mum’s nerves. 😅
Not this comment making me think I have the same disorder as Ed. Vocal stims, I swear.
Had never even heard of "echolalia" till this video and just looked it up and added it to the list of "My Frequent Autism Traits" (I am diagnosed)
going to am event and wondering how to "win" is the most relatable thing ever as a neurodivegent person who struggles with normal social interaction 😆😆
FELT
I BE CALCULATING MY EVERY MOVE to achieve different goals😭
I view people who I won't see again as specimens to test my social skills on 💀
thisssss I literally view people as “with me for the rest of my life” or “background character” and there’s no in between 😂
Stede is giving Autistic and Ed is giving ADHD
“I am focusing! I’m focusing on all this stuff!”
Their autistic swag has bewitched me body and soul
These two are absolutely the epitome of adhd partner meets autism partner makes soulmates
Everything in this video for some reason feels validating. I've been thinking I'm on the spectrum but can't really confirm unless I get tested first but all their behaviors in this video feels like things I've done in the past or continue to do.

the echolalia counter makes me want to cry out of pure joy/gen
ADHD (Ed) Vs Autism (Stede) xd

“how many times have you watched this video?”
me: yes
Stede Bonnet my favorite character represents my entire personality

You forgot all the times Stede would take things literally
the video would’ve been five hours long! 😂
ed is so me.
2:23 Ed Me trying to understand nurotypical social shit with autisim
I’m Autistic and ADHD and I love this video 😁🥰🥰

It is also a well known improv trick
Nothing more romantic than Autistic coded character (stede) x AuDHD coded character (ed)
This makes so much sense 😭
2:58: I think that would confuse anyone, not just neurodivergents.
so true bestie
This video is my new favourite thing 💜
This is everything, I couldn’t put my finger on why some of these scenes hit different lol my sis and I just had such crisis watching this and realising it was the fck autism/ adhd again.

4:13 poor Crowley
GOD I love this show
And I'm so excited for the second season!!
This makes sooooo much sense I love it 🏳️🌈🏴☠️

very insightful analysis :)
i love this sm
0:47 fucking kills me im cackling!
Me personally i hc them both to be adhtistic, in some ways they are the same and with others they are like on opposite ends of the spectrum (behavioral wise) ??? ihope this makes sense i am high outta my mind rn srry,, lovely video btw
I absolutely love this, but I don’t think every instance of repeating another person’s words counts as echolalia? Everyone repeats stuff sometimes
that’s fair! ed just does it a LOT lol
good video, music is too loud at times but good vid. (such a ND comment lmao)
