I see that Woolies canned Butter Bean tin and the way you spell the names of the spices and I immediately smell a South African - my mother was taught authentic Indian cuisine by distant Indian relatives and I grew up with these ingredients. Tasty and authentic recipe!
lol when I read broad beans curry it took me back to a little run down Cafe in sparks road, they probably been there for centuries and make a monster broad bean roti
Lol I know some spices are just overwhelming 😅 I stick to basics which still taste amazing! Grab yourself the special mix from Gorimas just ask over the counter and use that for your cooking
I live abroad, and I just made this and it reminded me of SA, turned out perfect! My partner loved it too. Thank you for this, I am not sure of any other channel that posts SAn-Indian recipes. I wonder if you have any paneer ones up..
Ah thank you so much! I'm so happy you guys enjoyed it. I do have a paneer recipe, check on eatmeerecipes.co.za it is quite old so please mind the images. I will try and get some new recipes up with paneer ❤️happy cooking ☺️
Quick question....does adding the brine from the canned beans change the overall flavor of the curry? I've been cooking most of your veg recipes during our purtassi fasting....your recipes may have saved my marriage😁 hubby can't get over my new cooking style lol
@@eatmeerecipes Hi there,In this recipe can I use tomato sauce instead of grated tomatoes? If do how much tomato sauce would you suggest I use. Also can I substitute the chilli for leaf masala,if so how much leaf Masala would you suggest I use?
@glam2022 hi there, please don’t use tomato sauce it won’t be the same, you can use leaf masala but the colour is very dark so keep in mind that the colour of your curry won’t turn out the same
Leigh Boois I used to have a bay leaf tree & curry leaf trees but unfortunately I have now relocated. The bay leaves that I have saved are now coming to an end lol. Fresh curry leaves are also sold at many grocers so that’s where I get them from. I have however also planted curry leaves in a pot so still awaiting them to grow so I can eventually have them fresh.
the magic is in the curry leaves frying in the oil, omg that smell!! try your best to get the curry leaves, fresh leaves can be frozen as is in the bag, or they'll begin to rot in the fridge
Now I'm going to try this for dinner😋
