Very detailed review. The color temp feature of the light is nice but I too wonder why Jobe did not include white light on the accent light. Explaining how to use AE lock and color temp settings in the camera was important for someone new to video creation. The tungsten setting on the light saved the outdoor shot. Adding a large power bank would make this light kit more portable.

Thanks for watching! I'm often surprised how powerful (but subtle) the effect of matching the color temperature is. We are so used to seeing white light on subjects at night with tungsten backgrounds, so when the lighting watches, it becomes more...dare I say it? Cinematic? Not that I'm claiming me standing in front of a restroom is cinematic. :)

The primary reason for offering USB-powered lights is to reduce the manufacturer's cost. They save by neither including a battery nor an AC adapter. Since USB power sources are nearly ubiquitous, the customer isn't too unhappy. The major (practical) downside of this is that most USB lights are going to be low output lights. Technically USB-C (using the PD standard) can deliver 100W of power (or more), but implementing that in the light costs the manufacturer more (guess: because of USB PD licensing costs) and it costs you more in terms of the USB charger/power brick you might have to buy. In such a case, the traditional AC adapter is much cheaper (notice how the more powerful lights *always* use AC adapters). Unless they are battery-powered.
