One of these mounts were supplied to me from Aputure free of charge. This review and it's content was not reviewed or paid for by outside persons or manufacturers. - Фільми й анімація
The first minutes made me think "this light is silly" but shooting it to the ceiling and them to a foam board perfectly just blew my mind!!!
You can do that with any fresnel light by using the barndoors.
I used this over the weekend, I got some AMAZING SHOTS! Great video, you really opened my eyes to a a lot of uses.
OH, SICK! This is like an ETC Source Four. We use those all the time at my job. I love this!
Already hype seeing their video announcement and seeing your video now makes me want it even more. Very comprehensive video that covered everything I wanted to know about it!
For getting more out of the 19 degree and a window gobo in tight spaces, try bouncing it off a mirror (old nightclub trick with projectors in tight quarters). You’ll cut your distance in half or even less.
That’s awesome! I am using some other spot light for my backgrounds, this one is stunning! Cheers from japan!
Very excited about these, was playing with some jolekos on a job recently and fell in love, this is the led equivilent, incredibly useful in certain situations.
Saw thumbnail. Thought you were going to do a video on using rocket launchers.
Sweden here. Agree, I thought it was a new version of the Swedish Bofors AT-4. LOL
SAME AHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Mark Randall You are not the only one who thought that. I thought he was promoting a huge artillery gun not a light. I have never seen a stage light look like this before.
"Taxation is THEFT! My new gear to free myself as a sovereign citizen"
Great concept! Aputure played smart and took the concept of ETC source 4 lights and made it available for their own lights.
Everytime i click on one of your videos, my wallet jumps out of my pocket and runs to the front door. Its fast too. Sometimes it gets halfway up the street before i can catch it. One time it made it to the airport. I almost had to go to Zimbabwe to get it back.
🤣🤣🤣 awesome
1CONOCLA5T LOL!
1CONOCLA5T That is a great story. LOL!
lol nice one
Thank you for the specifics on the gobo size. 👍 can't wait to get my hands on this.
Super excited for this! Aputure always changing the game!
Dslr video shooter has quietly been the most professional looking UA-cam channel out there for a minute
This is fantastic! We pay a lot of attention on camera gear but not enough attention on what matters most, lighting.
Man, you have taught me so much in the past decade. Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for that.
I've been waiting for something like this to exist!
Many of your viewers may not know that leko lights were a common fixture in live theater lighting setups for much of the 20th Century. Normally these ellipsoidal lights were fixed into ceiling grids and aimed at specific areas far away on stage. If a production needed a "spot light" the most common tool was a "follow spot" to track any moving actor. It appears Aputure has adopted both those live theater functions into this unique video studio tool.
That is cool that you can cut the light or project different silhouette shapes
Awesome video, totally blown away by the part where you used it as a bounce
Same!
Wish I was on time with my upload lol this was dope dude!
SO HELPFUL! Thank you so much. :)
My mind was blown with the fake light fixture.
Joseph Garcia same!
@@mribi I felt the same. Great product by Aputure
Same! Do we know which lens he was using for this portion?
yooooooo same!
Learned what a gobo is. Thanks!
Super helpful explanation and examples
9:49 That's honestly insane. Kinda looks like it something just animated into the shot.
Im going to buy it thanks to your video!
great video! thanks.
This is awesome. I usually use my Source 4 Jr.s but the issue with those is they get crazy hot. Definitely looking forward to having a nice cool ellipsoidal without spending a fortune on ETC LUSTR.
Nice! For the 300 light, the other one is not really that strong to use it. We have Leekos from other manufacturers with led lights, but they’re very expensive. As well as some HMI, but the originals were tungsten. A very versatile light and a most on every lighting truck for a Feature film, music videos, fashion and beauty commercials. In fact the proper way to backlight hair is bouncing a Leeko to a very specific silver bounce, that’s the only way to do beauty commercials.
Mixing colored gels in front, give some interesting effects.
Supercool concept.
Great videos! Just what im looking for. I have a question I hope you can respond. Is it the same function/type as godox s30 with 85mm lens?
Wow. Really nice
Check out the Wellmaking conical lens snoot. Less options but also much cheaper at 129 usd. You can focus the light and use gobos.
Incredible.
Amazing Video Review! Specially with the end when you shaped the light at the ceiling and then on a foam board to make it your key light! 😍😍🔥
P.S: Believe me if you started the video with those 2 quick examples, then talk about it in general and showed the gobos - many people would have watched the video for a longer time, thus according to UA-cam algorithm, the vid wiki get higher views. Because, for me watching it, after like 3 gobos I was bored I thought okay that's everything the mount can do & I was about to close the video. But luckily I didn't and saw the amazing part at the end, & IT REALLY BLOW MY MIND!! How creative you are to use it as a kew light!
I'm not critiquing your video .. you already know all this. I'm just reminding you to always keep the most creative part somewhere in the beginning of the video to attract the audience to stay longer in the video. 😍🔥 Keep it up!
This is great
keep it up
Great review and thumbnail 😁😁😁
9:32 was crazy! Was wondering what you did there
When you cut on the top, you're not pulling or pushing at the bottom. It's a lens, so the image (light) projected is reversed.
Nice review.
The gobo you referred to as a "fireball flamey-looking dealio" is a cucoloris. 😁
The thing with the square ceiling light source blew my mind
Have you tried the circle with the empty gobo holder in? You might get less fringing in the borders...
lol thought you had the Halo rocket Launcher. Best thumbnail yet :-)
that thing can crank out some super sharp cuts!
Ask Aputure if you can use ETC lenses with this unit. If so, ETC makes a 50-deg lens and lots of others. Also, if this is the case, it would explain Aputure's design decisions in creating a fixture that can accept industry standard lenses. Neat light!
I'm sooooo much waiting for your review about 10-25mm f1.7
have no idea should i keep 18-35mm or change it
when you bounced that thing off of the ceiling tile and the 4x4 it blew my mind
Best thumbnail ever
-when you think this is related to Portal lol
- the gravity gun tripod is op ^.^
keep doing what you do bud!
That is cool that you can cut the light or project different silhouette shapes. Are you making these silhouette shapes like your logo at home and how so?
That bouncing sold me on it. How you can cut the light source to a specific area. 🙌
With all you can do with this, what are some scenarios that you would rather use the fresnel adapter?
Thank you for your videos, very professional.
My studio is 40 m3 which one do you suggest to buy 19 or 36? as someone mentioned we can use mirrors to cut the distance, i really like the sharp edges with 19.
Thank you in advance for your respond.
Dope!
WooW! Big stage light. I only imagine using this unless it is for a theater play or stage performance. I can’t imagine using this in a photography studio. This would be overkill. Why do you have a light like this? Are you using this light for a movie you are making in the future?
Hi, nice video! I'm going to buy one and myself knowing the positive and negative points of each lens, I still have doubts if I should buy the 26 or 36...what do you think? I'm inclined to buy the 26 because I think it's the middle ground of lens options and because of its definition of cropping.
Great review, thinking about picking this up... @3:40, about how far are you away from the wall?
Please Caleb, do a review of the Intellitech pocket cannon mini! Please!
I don't know if you're aware, but Leko is a brand name for a line of ERS fixtures. I know, I know, it's often used to refer to any ERS. Still...
The 4x poster is nice but barn doors can do the same and it came in my kit
HI Caleb ! great Video ! wanted to know where you got your Outro BG Music done/bought ? its a killer soundtrack ! wanted to know the name of it ! thanks
Great video, thanks. Can you tell me who or where you had your logo GOBO made? I'm wanting to do that and I don't find any real options on search.
Is it right, that the Spotlight Mount does a 10x output on the 120D like
the Fresnel Mount does? If yes, do you see any use of the Fresnel apart
from just beeing smaller? Thank you for your thoughts!!! Love your channel
Awesome!!! BTW, which is that website that allows to personalize your own gobos? Thanks!!!
He ordered a logo gobo because the included gobos were a no go.
Bravo
Get out
Hi, it is metal construction? Can I use it whit 2k tungstèn light? (Can ressist heating?) Thanks for the review 🙂
A stronger version of dedo lights that’s cool
Im considering buying one of the spotlight mounts
Which one do you guys find most useful? I havent used any yet
Im thinking ordering the 26 degree one
Any idea how the output of this modifier compares with the output with the fresnel 2x?
Do you have to buy a whole new spotlight mount for each 19, 26 and 36 degree settings?
What is the heaviest monolight fixture it can support?
is there a way to mount the 120d onto a source 4 leko housing similarly to the JoLeko?
I don't need it. BUT I DEFINITELY NEED IT!
Especially when you got to making fake lights holy cow
:)
As soon as you can can you make a video about the Z cam E2 8K 🙏🏻😭
Is there an affordable wall mount for the 300d that you would recommend? Thanks!
How does this work for concerts and how far away does the light have to be for it to be big enough for a live performanve
Hi, I just got the A7 III and I don't have any lenses. I was thinking maybe to get the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM and the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 or Sony 85mm f/1.8 and Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM. What do you recommend I should get for music videos and car dealership commercials?
Caleb this beast fits on the 120D, right? Vid shows 120D Mk II....
I didn’t get what was the use of the rear element you call 120D Mark II? What’s it for? Does the light work without it? 🤔
Does it work with a non-Aputure bowens mount light? People (Aputure included) have said that the Aputure fresnel 2x will work with non Aputure Bowen’s Mount lights but it does not. I’m curious about this one.
How far was the unit from the wall?
Can’t find the gel holder I’d love to purchase it !
Great review I honestly don't have a use for it.
As a theatre designer, we use proper Lekos and Elipsoidals all the time, and there are some VAST DISADVANTAGES to this accessory. First off, you don’t have a knob to control the hotspot of the light (yes filmmakers, those exist and they are super necessary). The quality of the beam is terrible. At a sharp focus with the 19deg lens, there’s a halo around the proper beam of about 120deg, and the warping of the shutters are ridiculous. Get yourself a Source 4 if you want a leko. It’s what we use in theatre, and a body with a 36deg lens is only about $600.
Yes sure... for 750W lamp
HEY IAN- I have a photo studio! These new a Aputures "300x" goes from 2600k to 6000k I need both options as well as I need the spot lights and gobo options- I just checked out Source 4 Lekos- the lights are cheaper- but I think thats only for the tungsten one? I clicked LE one at its super expensive- the 36 degree is 600 but the Aputure is only 500 dollars? Are you suggesting for concert long distance, sharp circle Lekos are better?- Im shopping and trying to make the best decision? Any tips or thoughts-I liked seeing your post on another perspective? thk you
Mind blown. I need this now. Ugh my wallet.
Classic RECORTE
Pretty cool adaptation, definitely surpasses the SourceFours for creativity but LEDs will never match the skin tones of tungstens..
Hey Caleb, what's the URL for that custom gobo site?
Bump
Can it work with amaran lights?
Can you bring as carry on luggage?
From where the customized gobo? thanks
First thought seeing thumbnail: “Is that a bazooka he’s holding?”
After watching video: “Cool!”
does this increase the light intensity?
Are there similar options for godox?
whats the website that allows you to make gobos?
You could get some killer shadow finger animals going with that bad boy.....
+1 for the thumbnail
Is there anything like this for arri fresnel lights?
This is cool :) but first i need the money to buy the 120D :D
Or just buy the Godox SL-60W right now for 1/4 the price. Same light :)
@@Nicdehouwer or any bowens :D
@@Nicdehouwer Godox will be a great alternative.
