As someone who traveled for decades with my husband, an artist, working and living in many countries, I can tell you that when the nesting instinct kicks in, it's overpowering, and essential for the soul. And I don't mean just having children but creating a home.
I'm sick because Austin is leaving, but I understand completely!! God. Bless Austin and Amberly. I will follow Austin and HF forever!!
Vocally Austin is one of a kind, he is irreplaceable but he has given us a lot of himself and his music is amazing but he has to follow his heart and as sad as it is I am happy for him.
I can understand why Austin is leaving. I will miss Austin. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ I found this and listen to it what Austin have to say. Again I will miss Austin.
Even before he joined Home Free, he was traveling all over the world on cruise ships. So it has been pretty much since he finished college that he been traveling. For years, he didn't even have an apartment because he would never be there, so why pay rent? He has earned the right to set down roots.
This is pretty common in a capella it seems, and bands in general, even if most bandmate changes happen before most people are aware of them. Adam Chance, when he joined, had left Street Corner Symphony. Whoever becomes the next 5th member of home free, will actually be the 17th member in their 23 year history! 11 people have been in the band that are no longer there. They'll be alright. Which is not to say Austin won't be missed - Chris Rupp is too, but Chance was definitely an upgrade.
Think about this fact...Rob, Austin, Chance and Tim are all "replacements". They have an excellent track record of finding amazing singers that fit in with the feel of Home Free. I'm certain they will do great!
He will be missed but Homefree will go on. I support his decision. I'm thankful he was with Homefree for 12 years
I’m gutted but am hoping they find someone great to fill Austin’s shoes. It will be hard though. Good one D. 😍

I am a huge fan of Home Free and I have to admit that I am bit heartbroken over you leaving the group but I get it. It will sting for a while but like you said, nothing stays the same forever. I hope that the other Home Free members take their time in finding what will be huge shoes to fill. I am sure that whoever replaces you will be a good fit, just different. Austin, you have a beautiful voice and brought so much to the group! You will be very missed by all of your fans so keep in touch so that we know how you are doing. Thank you for all of the fantastic music, your group makes me smile every day. The new guy better have a great sense of humor if he wants to fit in lol Best wishes for you both in your new journey. Amberley is so sweet and 10000% supportive of Austin's dreams. It's a shame people would compare Amberley to Yoko. I've met both of them, and they are a perfect couple.
No. Amberly is not pregnant. Austin is a great carpenter. He build the on his house with some help from his dad and he is working on building a fence for the dogs so they can run around outside without being watched. He can work from home with his music career and other things. He even has a video "Earn It" and the Home Free video the guys did during covid, "Moonshine" shows him on the partially built deck.

Austin has said in (I think) one of their Home Away From Home videos that the quarantine was the longest time he's been off the road in years. He mentioned something about some day opening an animal sanctuary of some kind. I know that's been on their minds for a long time. Maybe they're thinking on bringing that closer to fruition now. And yes, the thought of maybe her being pregnant or them trying to have children now did come to mind. Y'never know. I just know I'l wish them the best whatever their future.
Amberly is on her way to getting the qualifications to get state approval to open a treatment centre for wildlife, and they have talked about one day buying a farm to use as a centre. How soon depends on how successful Austin is. Their little patch of land is now a state-certified wildlife sanctuary.

😢😭So sad but I do understand. Family is first and deserve respect. Home Free will always be my favorite Acapella group.
I wish I could be there and give you guys a hug, especially Amberly. This will be good for everyone, long run, but change is always hard.
Maybe soon there’ll be a baby Austin or baby Amberly running around! I know that’s not the most important thing but when that happens they will make the best parents!
Heartbroken. But, I'd hate to see the light fade from Austin's eyes so I am glad he has decided to do what he needs to do. I'll continue to support Home Free and Austin just like I have . ( I've followed Chris since he left). I have faith they will pick just the right addition to Home Free. I will probably pout for a little while though. I honestly just want our guys to be happy.
Thanks for putting this up, D. A few months ago HF announced that they were cutting back on the number of tours but I assumed those with kids wanted to spend more time with them. (Makes sense) This was a surprise but looking back it shouldn’t have been.
They all got a taste of being home during covid and worked to see if they could afford to cut back on their usual 150+ shows a year. Last year they said they were doing about 100 shows and this year they are looking at even fewer. Not only is touring hard on families, but they aren't getting any younger, either. Going full tilt, "sleeping" on the bus, eating poorly - when you hit 40+ it just gets too hard on your body to do that basically 30 full-time weeks in a year.
They all want to spend more time with their families. That's why they are cutting back. Austin just decided that he wants to be home to experience it all when they start a family and not miss anything. They all deserve respect.
Now is the time, D. Get your vocal cords ready to audition for Austin's place. I hope you can do a Texas twang yodel. LOL.
Don't worry. When Avi left PTX, everybody thought the group would fail. It didn't. It just continued in a different way.
I had the opportunity to travel with work and it was hard. Most people said it must be exciting to see so many places but the truth was, I saw the inside of an office building, the inside of a rental car, the inside of a hotel room and the inside of one or more planes/airports. I never got to see the actual cities or experience their attractions. I missed so much of real life. Holidays, birthday parties, family picnics, etc. You can't get those things back. I missed my pets and friends as well.

There are only a handful of bands that have lasted this long, and many that have, have changed their drummers like socks. Best of luck to all, and I am not surprised he will do guest shots, and I look forward to the new look Home Free.
There were some really nasty, cruel and rude comments about Amberly after the announcement. From patrons. Which is why he needed to address it.
Amberly got a lot of crap when they first started dating, from people (I don't want to call them fans) who thought he should still be with his ex. Some are just simply so entitled.
There have also been comments about how Austin should stay with the band because it's what the fans want.

I will miss him like crazy in Home Free, and I won't know how I'll adjust to the new tenor because Austin is my main love in the band, but I most certainly respect and accept him as a human being for choosing to lead with his heart. And I'm excited for him as well as for Home Free and the Home Fries, present and future.
I agree with you that this is different than when Chris left, because Austin was the one who brought the star quality and the energy that brought them to where they are, impo. But, that's not say that the new member, whoever that may be, won't bring something that moves them in a direction that will be equally exciting and thriving.
I'm like Austin, I love change, I thrive in change, and this is both super sad and super exciting.

Hope you feel better soon D, but I was thinking the same thing, I bet she is pregnant. We do want him to be happy, and we will always love and support Austin and home free. I had said having a new member in home free makes me nervous, because Austin is one of a kind and irreplaceable, but then Chance.... He was the new guy and I absolutely love him, hope we get that again.
Yep. I bet she's already pregnant. But 2 others have 2 kids, all of them have wives. Idk... I knew his life with her would change him up like this. I hope it works out to a good change. 🤐🤷♀️
It's pretty unacceptable to "bet" on whether Amberly is pregnant, as if she were a cow. It's purely a private matter between her and Austin until they want to tell us. For various reasons it's highly unlikely, but again - not our business.
@@patriciamcl54 She did say, emphatically, in a TikTok a week or so ago that their 'secret' that would be revealed this week was NOT that they were expecting. It turns out that Austin leaving HF was their secret.
Don't take my words out of context. That is just my opinion. If she is pregnant or not. If she would happen to be i would be thrilled for the..I have nothing but respect for them both.
They made it very clear last night that she is not pregnant yet. They want to wait till Austin is out of HF, which isn't happening till the fall. He wants to be home with her while she is pregnant.
Even if he goes solo he will have to travel. They will find another tenor and Home Free will go on. I'm happy he is seeing a therapist.
he's quite open that he has been in therapy for many years now.
But he will have more say in how much he travels if he's solo. He has also said he is more than happy to stay home, make music and release content like he has been since covid happened.

I told Austin the other day that nobody should talk bad about Amberly having any input to this decision, She as well as the other spouses and family are all part of Home Free. If Amberly is just used as a sounding board for Austin or even her opinion, she has earned that right. I will see them again on Mar. 26th.
Home Free should try convincing PETER HOLLINS to replace Austin...he has a great tenor voice, has a good personality and works well with Tim and the boys.
Quite recently Amberly posted that everyone kept telling her to have a child while she still feels about 18 years old. Austin, however, has been talking openly for over a year about "when" not "if" he has children. If you listen to the 3rd verse of Austin's song MR, it talks about not missing out on a baby's early days because you're just not there.
Btw Amberly confirmed that she is not pregnant a week or two back, so it would be quick work if she is now, as you believe. It's actually a bit gross to speculate on these matters.
Btw (2) there have indeed been some vicious attacks on Amberly. For some reason trolls have been at her since she started dating Austin. She behaves as if she's
very badass but some of them really hurt her. I just don't know why people do this.

It's how I felt when Avi left Ptx, but it turned out just fine
I think this will turn out better for Austin, because although it was not widely publicised, PTX behaved very badly towards Avi, both before and after he left. They laid claim to all the songs he had written (and sued him to establish their claim). This when he had just lost his mother. By contrast, by all accounts all of HF have been doing a lot of soul-searching and discussion about the future. Touring really is no fun when you're in your 40s and eg worried about a family problem. They were supposed to cut back last year, but it didn't really work out. The other members fully understand Austin's desire to establish himself and live a normal life.
@@patriciamcl54 Avi’s mother is still very much alive. Her cancer had returned and she was undergoing treatment at the end of his time with PTX. She is once again in remission.
@@patriciamcl54I’m sorry but you’ve got the whole Avi story backwards. First of all his mom didn’t die. Avi was the one who sued Ptx for the right to their songs. The lawsuit prevented them from releasing new songs. They had to scrap an entire original album because Avi had been involved with the writing of some of the songs. They couldn’t even release the songs he hadn’t written on because at that point he was still part of the corporation. They were supposed to go on tour with the new album of originals but because they couldn’t release any of it they had to quickly throw the top pop cover album together and tour that instead. They ended up having to write an entire new album because of the lawsuit. There much more to the Avi story than him not wanting to tour so much and his mom being sick. He gave the band an ultimatum and they didn’t comply so he chose to leave. Nobody licked him out. It was after he left that things got ugly because of lawsuits. Ptx didn’t sue him but the but the result of the lawsuit meant that he had to wait a specific amount of time before he could be released from the Ptx name and release new music on his own. Not sure where you got your story but I actually know somebody who has inside info.
I hope his fans support him and understand his decision. Hope they don't turn there backs on him like many did when Avi left PTX for many of the same reasons.
Avi was pretty badly treated by Ptx and the Ptx fans. His work since leaving has been so brilliant that he has an army of new fans, fortunately. Austin has too, many of them not even knowing what Home Free is, and his fans are pretty hardcore faithful. he has actually added 2k new YT subs since yesterday.
@@patriciamcl54I’m sorry but Avi is not treated badly by Ptx or the fans. Some people just can’t get past the fact that Avi left and bring him up in every music video or TikTok. It’s been over 6 years and they can’t let it go even though Avi is making his own music now. Matt is the one who gets treated badly by his fans or old school Ptx fans because he’s simply not Avi.
@@PtxXtp I do believe it goes both ways for sure. I can't tell you how many times I have read comments that bad mouth Avi and they will never listen to his music. Not sure why fans can't support all.

He was smart to make the announcement by himself. When Avi left PTX, the other members were sitting by him looking pretty dang angry. It still is uncomortable to watch all these years later.
It's sad but Austin needs to do what is right for his soul and HomeFree will continue on.
Amberly has been showing up alot on YT which has gotten some negative vibes and comments ...and she is going to be the "Yoko Ono" for a while with some of HF's fans but it will pass.
They looked more upset and sad then angry to me.

Very sad news. I would be more upset if he was leaving Home Free just to pursue a solo career but if it is for family reasons, I can understand. Many of us could see him heading in a different direction. He now has a new life & interests. As much as I enjoy some of his solo stuff, I much prefer him as part of Home Free. Home Free has never been about one person but a collective group with unique talents coming all together.
Even if it were purely for personal ambition, he has every right to decide his future for himself. He has had a solo career for 4 years now and it has been very successful, with a little team to work with. He has to keep dropping what he wants to go back on the road, whereas now he can explore all sorts of possibilities. We have no right to talk as if he "should" stay in HF. I can only think of one band whose members have all stayed with it, because changing members is the nature of the beast. Without it, output becomes stale and repetitive.
Why should you feel upset if he left for a solo career? What right do you have to judge anyone and their personal career choices. Austin has every right to make his own life decisions. Maybe he just wants to sleep in his own bed. That's his choice, not yours.
