Not just did they pull it off, but the immediacy of switching to A Capella pumped more emotion into the song for me. This song came out while I was in Junior High School. We knew how every note played on those instruments sounded. But switching those notes into voices, and especially into words instead of instrumental notes, give much more meaning to the lyrics. Yes 'dream on' was always in our minds, but I totally missed the idea of the passage of time that hits in VoicePlay's version. To not just 'dream', but to continue to 'dream' even after you might feel your chance has passed by.

Voiceplay is independent and does everything themselves. They never disappoint, no matter what genre they're covering. In The Air Tonight was great along with Creep, Nothing Else Matters and a ton of others. Enjoy😊

As I know from their videos, this here is Elli´s old High School. They see each other as family. Tenor Cesar de la Rosa visited his family on the drive to a location with Laney Stein and they welcomed Laney like a son.
    Be safe and be blessed.

Finally! A reactor has described the magic of their interpretation. And their ability to fill the soundscape at that level of intensity with only vocals.

Probably my favorite of all their performances. Both Voiceplay and Home Free make you forget there aren't any instruments. Gotta love 'em

In no small part, the arrangement which is extremely well prepared and detailed explains their “cohesiveness”. You’re right … they execute.

Thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. Voice Play knocked it out of the ball park. One should never underestimate what Voice Play can do. If they say it can't be done Acapella, Voice Play will prove them wrong every time. They did a medley of Queen songs titled Queen In 5 Minutes it will blow you away. Their song titled Hell Fire from The Hunchback of Notre Dame is amazing wait till you hear Geoff's range in this one. Their newest cover that just dropped titled Sleeping In The Cold Below is amazing.

Thanks for your reaction and coming back to Voice Play! Yes, you are right about Steven Tyler writing "Dream On" when he was only 17 years old. This abandoned building was Eli's (bald rock tenor) old high school. Many Voice Players (fans of Voice Play) consider this song to be part of Voice Play's post apocalyptic trilogy of songs ("Warriors", "Dream On" and "Seven Nation Army"). I think for more Classic Rock from Voice Play, you would love their cover of "Carry On My Wayward Son". I am still hoping to see you react to Voice Play's "Valhalla Calling" as that one really rocks and shows you even more of Voice Play's talent in singing, theatrics and production and I know you will love it! Their names are: Geoff Castellucci (deep bass singer also has his own solo channel), Layne Stein (beat boxer and violin player we nicknamed "Violayne"), Eli Jacobson (name pronounced like it rhymes with jelly; bald, high rock tenor), Cesar De La Rosa (busy haired baritenor) and frequently feature guest Omar Cardona long time best friend and roommate of member Cesar.

This arrangement brings a whole new feel to this song. What do you know of lines on your face at 17? As older men they can look back with nostalgia at what has gone before but still encourage us to Dream On. The look and sing like men who have been through it. It is sometimes regarded as the second part of an apocalytic trilogy, stylewise. The first was Warriros, then the most reccent was Seven Nation Army.. Geoff, Layne, and smetimes Eli, are just insane arrangers and editors. VoicePlay are in a league of their own. No one does it like VoicePlay. Yes there are other good a capella groups but with this range of genres? I don't think so.

I highly recommend the following two songs for you to check out:
    1) OOGIE BOOGIE'S SONG(The Nightmare Before Christmas)
    2) Hoist the Colors (Pirates of the Carribean)

Hahahaha! Glad you enjoyed it. I agree with everyone here but especially hwyla4416's comment. It's gets you hyped! I usually turn the volume up, but on this one it was at 100%. And trust me when I say I have a great set of head phones. Appreciate your reaction as always!! Looking forward to the next request(s) by your Patreon fans!!

Great reaction!! The emotion that Voiceplay brings to it is amazing! Any of the three in the middle could have hit that high note, but Cesar wanted to do it. They came out with a new one yesterday, Sleeping in the Cold Below from Warframe.
Did we forget to tell you that Geoff started doing solo work when the pandemic stopped Voiceplay from touring? Start with Shenandoah. Trust me.

This was a great reaction. I also remember this song coming out while I was still in school and Voiceplay have imbued a level of almost a wistful nostalgia or regret into it that wasn't in the original and it resonates with me now more than the original does. As for the song, yes, Steven Tyler wrote it when he was only teenager. According to Wikipedia "Lyrical composition was completed when Steven was 14 years old."

Fun Fact: This was the first song after Ceasar(beside Layne the beatboxer) became a full member. He also took the highest note

Sorry to correct you - but Cesar's first video as a full member was their cover of 'If I Were A RichMan/Girl', at least a year before this one - he was first 'featured' in 'We're Good', then 'Butter' as well as several 'minis' in between those..

Yea, it was Eli's high school. I have cheap headphones, living on Soc Sec. Have to wait awhile, build a house, get out of my 23 ft camper. These guys are so very good. Try their versions of Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep (RadioHead), Drunken Sailor, Valhalla Calling (Miracle of Sound), Hellfire (Hunchback of Notre Dame), Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), and this weekend they dropped Sleeping in the Cold Below (Warframe). Chicago heard about VoicePlay's version of Nothing Else Matters and listened to it, then got hold of them and invited them up to NJ for the Chicago and Friends concert Nov 17-18 to sing with them. It was amazing.

Yah. I only listen to VoicePlay with headphones or in my car now.
I blew three different soundbars trying to listen to them on my tv and computer. I blame Geoff. The speakers couldn’t hang with his bass.

Great reaction! I can’t wait till you listen to “Metalicapella”. They did Nothing Else Matters 🤯 and it is mindblowing. I am not a metalhead. I don’t know if it’s the way I perceive sound or just personal taste, but I usually find instrumentation way too loud. So as brilliant as the song is, I’ve never truly enjoyed it… until now.
They featured J None, a prior permanent member who is now in the Navy, as their guest artist. It has become one of my favorites and that continues to surprise me.
For a different view of what they can do when Omar is with them, you might check out their brand new one Sleeping in the Cold Below, or one of my all-time favorites Dragonborn/Skyrim.
If you really want to hear what they can do without instrumentation, check out their cover of Grieg’s classical masterpiece In the Hall of the Mountain King. I will warn you. It’s one of Layne’s flights of fancy and is comedic genius😂.

Disney, Christmas, Viking and Rock acapella. How do they do it? One style would be impressive but they have songs for everyone. Also, Geoff and his dragon notes. Wow! Thanks.

The master of bass!!! Y me encantaria que reaccionaras a su propio canal... Estos dias subio un video del tema de Cris Isaac Wicked game... Adoraras su trabajo en este arreglo igual.. pero tan diferente al original!... Te mando un gran abrazo a la distancia 😊

Loving your voice play reactions! Now you’ve started down that voice play rabbit hole I’d highly recommend trying some of Geoff Castellucci’s (bass)solo stuff from his own yt channel. He doesn’t stick to a Capella but has an amazing range of tunes.
He’s just released one of my favourite of his “Wicked Game” Chris Isaac cover. But you won’t go wrong with any of his (including book narrations). Blackbird, Sound of Silence, Ain’t no sunshine… could literally go on and on.
It’s often just Geoff and his wife Kathy (who is also VP’s production manager) doing the whole process ( plus some wig/makeup specialists every now and again 😉😂)

Great reactions! You've checked out their more rock-oriented songs, try some of the other genres they've done. For pure unadulterated fun there's "Hall of the Mountain King". It's an acapella cover of a purely instrumental song - with a twist. They are the absolute kings of Halloween.
And you really haven't heard anything from Geoff (the bass) yet! Check out his channel and pick anything. He has a 5 octave range and clones himself for the harmonies. Every one in that group is insanely talented, and none stay in their lane.
