OMG! This journal is absolutely gorgeous! I love your papers. Thank so much for sharing all your hard work and God given talent with us. Your work is just beautiful! Hugs
I love how the cover out, these feel so lovely ... Gorgeous journal as always Cheryl ... Love the big butterfly tuck spot, the products and technique you use to enhance these die cuts, never ceases to amaze me ... !!! TFS
O.k., so I put the Tyvek inside adhering it with decoupage ( you can use any speadable glue), make sure it is nice and dry. Then I simply crumpled until I got the amount of creases I wanted. Spray with water first, add your ink, then spray again. I used a sponge brush. You can keep adding ink and water until you are satisfied with the look. Dry it well, then do the inside if you want. When it is nice and dry, cover it with Mod Podge, or decoupage. I used my pouncing method after it was all spread so I could get that bumpy look you see in leather.
Love your work I just received a cd from my mom that must be years old that has 5000 images. Can't wait to try it out on a journal. You are giving me great ideas. I am pretty new to this so we shall see
Aw I love this journal. It's so beautiful. I'm re watching your videos, as I'm desperately trying to figure out how to make a closure for a very overly fat journal I've finally completed. This closure looks stunning. I love cameos & have quite a few I've collected. I'm still unsure what to use as I've kept the pockets both ends on the envelope & I'm still a bit nervous of my cropodile
I use them for punching but I'm gonna practice the eyelets like You said. I'm saying that now but I now can't find my eyelets! lol This journal has been crazy. I usually know where my stuff is but I just finished painting the living room which is also my temporary craft room & it's been mayhem here. I lose a stencil & when I find it I lose a particular stamp & You know what it's like, when You have your heart set on that stamp no other stamp will do! I'll find that stamp but then I can't find the particular sized acrylic block. I've seen an old broach in a thrift store which I'm gonna grab tomorrow & hopefully incorporate into the closure, so by then I'll have found my eyelets, I hope! lol
I really enjoyed this flip through..lots of cool ideas and the cover is perfect. I like your style of feminine and pretty without being too frilly. The simplicity of the cover makes it a beauty. : )
Cheryl...when you said "crumple it all up" did you mean that after you decoupaged the tyvek and the manilla folder together, you crumpled the envelope with the tyvek in in up???? wadded it up in a loose ball???? also, what did you use to apply the distress inks to the envelope??? a sponge brush??? or something else? Bev White
As always, another beauty. How have you been, haven't been on here too much lately. Can't wait for you to retire & do that Etsy Shop. Hope all is well with you. Hugs, Linda ;)
I LOVE this journal & appreciate all the thought & hard work you put into it. I’m just beginning at making my first journal & get lots of inspiration from you! Thanks for all you do!
Cheryl....watched the video on mixed media envelopes published 18 Jul 2015.....is that the video that I should refer to in how to make the cover????? also, when you wadded up the tissue paper....is that what you did with the stained envelope with the tyvek in the spine area???? Bev White
Cheryl....thanks for all your help....I'm going to really try this technique....I have to get all the envelopes and tyvek together, then try my hand at this!!! Bev White
VERY cool Cheryl !! I LOVE the leather look !! Nice seeing you again sure miss you but do understand you are busy !! Hope all is well, Take care xoxo Kelly
You always make BEAUTIFUL journals and this is no exception! Love your kit to. i also love the double doily effect. Thanks for sharing. Thanks ever so much D.
Love it Cheryl! Do your ears burn? I talk about you and your wonderful journals and tips etc... I have referred several of my scrappy/crafty friends to watch/join your channel!!! Lol. I agree with the suggestion about doing a tutorial on that TH big butterfly!! A!so, I love the single words you used.. Are those from little yellow bicycle? (I think that's the name)....~~Orlaina
What an adorable journal, Cheryl! The cover is AMAZING! You're a true artist creating your own digital images as well! I have the big butterfly die and now I finally know how to put it to good use!! :D Thanks you, as always. Hugs.
Anther beautiful journal Cheryl !! Your very own, made & designed paper .... Just the greatest to know it's yours . I really like the cover also. Love watching your you tubes, thanks for sharing with us 😀
Another gorgeous creation, Cheryl. I love how your cover turned out, it looks great and your kit is just lovely! very well done my friend! Thank you for sharing :)
Love the papers in your new kit. I also like how you incorporate all the elements in your journals. I have collected stencils but never used then in journals. Great idea.
You are absolutely Amazing. This is so beautiful, just outstanding. May you be blessed for sharing your talent and skills with us. I learn something new every video and then I go back and rewatch them. Thanks Again!
Ohhh I love how the cover came out!! I have to chime in with everyone else...just love your digi creation and would love it if you would someday have a place to sell!! Perhaps like you said maybe one day when you have the time. It is a beautiful journal!! TFS!! :)
Awesome! I love the dress form, the cornflower blue stamping, the blue butterfly tag, the butterfly tuck spot, but mostly I loved the bottles and flowers. You know that image just might make a very nice cover in your mixed media style. Thank you again for sharing and look forward to seeing more of your work.
I don't have time to watch videos any more but just had to watch this one. It is absolutely amazing, beautiful and so creative. It must have taken you a long time to make this one. The leather look is really neat... Well done, Cheryl! tfs
What a gorgeous kit. I especially love the faint background paper that's great for journaling. I hope you consider selling the kit and future ones if you make more, as it's instant download by etsy and the only time consuming part is uploading the kit and uploading images and descriptions.
Heey just wanted to send you some kisses from Brazil 😃 I love your journals, ideas and tricks. I'm working on my first vintage Journal and your channel has been giving me some wonderful ideas and tips, so tank you very much e 'amo o seu canal'
This is gorgeous i love the cover, When i make regular journals i take heavy brown paper and wrinkle it up, then i straighten it out, paint it and burnish it with gold or silver and attach it to pellon, and then Sew fabric to the inside, It does look like leather. Such fun! I just wanted to mention i too am in Canada 🇨🇦 use to live on Vancouver Island but am in Ontario now near Toronto! So its fun to meet another Canadian, Wendy from Wendys journey is on the east coast (N.S.) so there are a few of us Xxxx. Hugs❤️🥰❤️
So so pretty!!!! In this video, you state that you cannot write on parchment paper. That is why you used tracing paper. I am currently making a journal for my son, and I chose parchment paper for the journal pages. I have torn, plus stained edges and on each page front and back. Is there a reason this cannot be written on? Or is there a certain type pen to use? I hate to go any further without your input. Also, my cover is a medium color cowhide leather that is very soft. I want this book to look very old and vintage and would like to really distress the leather to a worn used look. Do you have any ideas how to do this? Thank you!!!!!
Baking parchment is the type I meant. Bakers use it because nothing sticks to it. I've tried coffee staining it, but the coffee flakes off when dry. Don't know about the leather, but I'm sure if you Google it you would find some information that would help you.
So lovely. tfs. I redid my journal cover after your tips and tricks and it turned out so much nicer. I'm much happier with it. Thank you so much for taking the time to do the tutorial. If you are thinking of doing another tips and tricks I would love to see the technique for the holtz butterfly.
Cheryl every time i think i love one you go do a other just a Beautiful thank you for your kindness in showing us how to do all the creative things in your journal
Very nice! Just an FYI: I live in a very humid area. Of course its worse in summer. So I have discovered that Mod Podge doesn't want to dry! I once used it to redo a box. I left it for over a week, and it still wasn't dry! Needless to say, I don't use it much. You've obviously had better luck. Tfs, hugs, jess
I didn't use Mod Podge, I used decoupage I don't live anywhere even remotely humid lol, West coast of British Columbia. If you have that problem, you can use a little talcum and rub it in, then wipe it off with a paper towel, or something dry. It should help with the stickiness
You really have hit a home run here, Cheryl. Great cover, beautiful design, lovely tea dyed pages, this journal has everything! TFS ~ always enjoy your videos ~ you offer so much inspiration and lots of tips. Thank you ~ Julie
Your kit makes a gorgeous journal, Cheryl. I had to watch the video twice to make sure I saw every detail. I love the cameo piece you made for your beautiful faux leather cover. Tfs Hugs, Shell
I have enjoyed watching you share your creations for a long time, its amazing that you are now creating your own pages now as well, that is awesome! I have also been wanting to try that myself as well, but have no idea what I needed. Is there a special program or are they digis you purchase and put together on the screen? TFS your amazing work. Maggie
love it, and they do sell a spray sealer for podge, I found it at Walmart next to the podge, its excellent, will take that stickie feeling away.............
Sorry just realized you were giving me advise lol. Not sure our Walmart carries that. I find the USA carries way more Modge Podge items than here in Canada, thanks for the advise, I will look.
Your are clearly the best JJ artist I have come across on YT. You give the best tips and have encouraged me to take on this hobbie. Question: What weight paper do you use to print your images that you use for tags, journaling sheets, booklets etc...? They seem to be sturdier than 32 Lb. paper, which my printer will take...but I do have problems printing directly on card stock. Are they on card stock...does your printer pick up card stock? Thanks
I print my paper and journal booklets on 32 lb paper, and my tags and postcards on 60 lb card stock. I have a front load printer which is why I can print on thicker paper. I used to have a top load that wouldn't, couldn't have that, so bought a new one. It's a Canon pixma MX 492
I always use the bottled distress stains over clear gesso & they dry really fast with a heat tool (I'm impatient at times, I should just wait) but I added the distress spray stain on top the other day & decided to blast it dry. I was there for hours! & really with those sprays You need to let em dry on their own, They're for covers to leave rather than covers You wanna forge ahead with right away. I definitely learned that last week
+delygirl1961 Yeah definitely. This was just vintage photo on top of walnut stain but I'll try my tarnished brass next time as all my covers seem to be brown & I don't wanna be known for just that style. I also need to start using my Inka Gold on the edges. I forget I have it & I waited months for that to arrive from the US. It's really a nice product to work with
Cheryl I love looking at what you create. I buy a few odds and ends here and there and I'll eventually give it a try to make one of my own. I comment because I LOVE what you do and I want you to know that. Plus we're both in the PNW so when I here how your weather is I sometimes know what's coming-LOL
LOVE the Vintage ladies !!! They are beautiful !!!! Gorgeous album !!!

Thank you Fiona
Cheryl....watched Paula's video...it explains most of my questions....except the "crumpling" of the envelope....Bev White
Beautiful journal and beautiful images that you created. Hope you will sell them some day. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching Heather
Beautiful, Cheryl!! Love the kit! Those perfume bottles are just gorgeous. They're the main reason I'm sad that the kit's not for sale! lol
Well I won't say it will never be for sale, but not sure about the timing

Aw I love this journal. It's so beautiful. I'm re watching your videos, as I'm desperately trying to figure out how to make a closure for a very overly fat journal I've finally completed. This closure looks stunning. I love cameos & have quite a few I've collected. I'm still unsure what to use as I've kept the pockets both ends on the envelope & I'm still a bit nervous of my cropodile
Just practice a few times on some scrap paper. They really are easy to use
What's gliding
Adding the gold paint gives a gilded effect. Real gilding is used with a medium and gold foil. This is just a cheaper way to achieve a similar effect.
Cheryl....watched the video on mixed media envelopes published 18 Jul 2015.....is that the video that I should refer to in how to make the cover????? also, when you wadded up the tissue paper....is that what you did with the stained envelope with the tyvek in the spine area???? Bev White

What a gorgeous kit. I especially love the faint background paper that's great for journaling. I hope you consider selling the kit and future ones if you make more, as it's instant download by etsy and the only time consuming part is uploading the kit and uploading images and descriptions.
It's not the uploading per say that takes the time, it's the designing of them.

In this video, you state that you cannot write on parchment paper. That is why you used tracing paper. I am currently making a journal for my son, and I chose parchment paper for the journal pages. So lovely. tfs. I redid my journal cover after your tips and tricks and it turned out so much nicer. I'm much happier with it. Thank you so much for taking the time to do the tutorial. If you are thinking of doing another tips and tricks I would love to see the technique for the holtz butterfly.

You really have hit a home run here, Cheryl. Great cover, beautiful design, lovely tea dyed pages, this journal has everything! TFS ~ always enjoy your videos ~ you offer so much inspiration and lots of tips. Thank you ~ Julie

I find things online that are Royalty free or in the public domain. I then use Photoshop Elements 14 to create my pages.
love it, and they do sell a spray sealer for podge, I found it at Walmart next to the podge, its excellent, will take that stickie feeling away.............
If you have a problem with that, add some talcum and rub it around, then wipe it off. Should do the trick.
Sorry just realized you were giving me advise lol. Not sure our Walmart carries that. I find the USA carries way more Modge Podge items than here in Canada, thanks for the advise, I will look.
This só pretty..
Thank you Lucia
Thank you for share with us your beatiful journals. I always watch your videos and learn so much. please forgive my english, it is not so good.
+Lucia Garrido It's just fine Lucia
Gorgeous. TFS. I love the corner punch you use on many of your journal pages. What is it called? Is it a Martha Stewart punch?
Yes, it's a Martha Stewart, but I don't know the name...sorry
I found it one of your other videos: MS Swirling Lace

+Ashs Vision well it's been really hot here the last 3 days
LOL-same here but we're in for a cool down for the next 4-5 days. I hope it's the same for you :-)
Yes it is much cooler today. Good thing too as I hate doing housework when it's hot
