    Hey man. Great video. As a 20+ year TG user, I'm glad you divided the models into the three true tiers (small post, premium infomercial, and then commercial grade) that exist. So many times I've had to explain to friends and family what the difference is and why the Costco model is cheaper than the Fit (as an example).
    I've been on commercial-grade models for at least 10 years and I'm never looking back. Something to consider is you can pick up older commercial-grades (14000, GTS, Power Tower, Elevate) on the secondary market all day for cheap; like, sub 300 dollars. And the build quality is untouchable.
    Tangent to my fellow big dudes out there: the wheels will go out of round on you on all models below Commercial-grade. It's not if - it's when.
    I'm not hating on the infomercial models. My wife has an XLS and it's a great piece of equipment. But it'll be rotting in a landfill while our 14000 and Power Tower models we have in our garage gym are going strong 10, 20, 30 years from now.

      They used to at the beginning
      My family had one of the originals and it had the large stand, pull-up bar, plates attachment, and had 10 levels.
      Used it all throughout highschool. Was kinds sad after I moved out they sold it when I wanted it when covid hit.
      But have my own now XL7 I'm happy with it plus my brother works at a thrift store and they always get attachments donated so you know cheap price for really high quality just clean them and your good.

    Thank you for posting the specs for all the models. I decided to finally make the plunge and buy one. I decided on the Tota Gym Fit. I just checked on QVC and they just posted the Total Gym Fit for $699 for Labor Day sale! (Blue or Yellow option) Plus, I got an extra $30 off for my first order with QVC. And they offered 12 mo 0% financing with their QCard. You just can't beat that price!!

    Very useful information ! I think the most important feature by far is support for the weight bar because it (1) supports weight plates (2) provides anchor points for resistance bands (3) acts a handle, which is super important for heavy squats and calf work. Even with a lower weight limit of 300 lbs, you can always use resistance bands and they don't contribute to the weight limit. On a side note, I can't understand why anybody would opt for the Supreme. $700 for only 275 lb. maximum weight an no weight bar option ???? The Apex G3/G5 and the Gr8Flex are all better AND cheaper.

    Hey Bud, great video. I actually was watching your channel before I bought my Total Gym Fit early last year. After watching a lot of your videos, I bought the Total Gym Fit. Two reasons why: 1) I was able to purchase it while making monthly payments. 2) The Total Gym Fit had a 450 lb weight capacity. I'm 5'11" tall and weigh 240 lbs. I bought the weight extension bar so I could add weight (still adding weight to it). You are spot on about the smoothness of the Total Gym Fit. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. The other thing I want to add to my home gym is the Leike Fitness Sissy Squat stand. I watched your video and love that piece of equipment. That's on my radar to get. I will use your link so you get something out of it. Anywho, anyone who buys the Total Gym Fit should be happy with it. There are plenty of attachments to add to this machine. I love mine. One side note: If you buy or if the Total Gym company sends you a Total Gym GTS Elevate machine, you HAVE TO make a video about it. I'd be very interested in your thoughts. Thanks again for the video, excellent! - Mike

    I was in the market for a 3 to 5 hundred dollar Machine rower. Then I remembered I was interested on a total gym and I think ultimately this is better for a true work out machine that does pretty much the same thing.
    Although, I do think the rower offers a "get on and don't think about it" experience that the total gym would stump you on given its diverse function.

    That XL7 looks like a good deal. Definitely agree the Supreme is not worth the money based on what else is out there. I was looking at purchasing an Elevate. The guy I spoke to at Total Gym offered me 22% off plus the strength package at no charge. He also mentioned they would be increasing their prices soon. Not sure if that is just a sales tactic but I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the case considering all the supply chain issues and recent inflation.

      I regret buying the fit 4.5 years ago maybe 5 . For the money I wish I would of seen the gr8flex. The rubber bands are better then the weight bar since you have to buy small size weights 5's or 10's and 20's or 25's reminder the bar size slot is a joke,,weights are not easy to find also you risk slamming into the floor at high incline with bigger weight, the don't advertise but I asked customer service if could use a weight vest , answer was was yes, some exercises anyway. Just my opinion.

    Can you help me make a choice? I'm super new, first day investigating Total Gym. I'm a lady in my 50's, overweight and out of shape and want to fix that. I've watched this and a few other of your videos and feel like even the most basic model would work for me since I have nowhere to go but up. But I'm zeroing in on the G5 and the honorable mention XL7 and and possibly the XLS. Since I'm such a novice, it's all over my head, not even understanding the attachments. So can you help me deep dive into the differences between these 3 models, including not only attachments, but build quality and materials...even maybe things like comfort of bench and handles etc...basically anything you think I'd need to know.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  Рік тому +1

      I wouldn't recommend the XL7 because it doesn't have the option for the weight bar attachment, in case you want to get that in the future. The G5 is a better value, but if you don't mind spending a little more then, I'd go with the XLS for the more stable and smoother ride. IT's a bigger machine but that size pays off in stability and comfort. The g5 will be lighter but the rollers are a little inferior, so you'd have to potentially upgrade them down the line depending on how much use you're putting into it.

    I had a total gym ultra many many years ago from QVC, I regret it going to the garage then out for pickup or trash because I'd like to try it again but not sure how much of my issue with it was the machine itself or my weakkness/fatness/improper technique. I was on it with a medium setting I guess (not flat but not at the top either) facing away to do the leg pulley and I wasn't as strong as I thought and when I pulled with the leg in the pulley system it shifted the bench off the track a bit (not to the floor but enough it went off track and jarred me and my balance got way off) this happend a couple of times. another time I had the arms with my back to the top and had the loops in my hands then stupidly picked up m y feet and , well , gravity took over and I fell back because whatever muscles I was gonna work needed a flat bench I think. anyways, I did enjoy the back and forth movement vs standing with dumbbells so I'm debating one again.
    anyways, there are sooo many models and I'm not sure if the cheaper ones are the same at coming off the track or if all will do that with the wrong angle on the move? I'm mostly interested in trying the leg pulleys and arms with the bands than I am in squats, though pushups with it I think might benefit me LOL! I'm seeing refurbished and unopened in box locals selling fit or fit max. are fit and fit max the same? do you think one of the cheaper ones would work for me? I'm overweight 5'4" and currently around 250 lbs - and I was smaller when I had the ultra and found the bench wasn't as comfy though the weight limit fit! I'm still watching your videos as I just found your channel! thank you!

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you for the comments and question. I know I personally don't mess with the leg pulley too much because I feel a little unstable. The FIT Max was one of their limited edition models that had more increments on the tower. I just made a video talking about the anniversary model that's on sale that's basically the same package as the FIT max. The cheaper ones would still work for your bodyweight but I would suggest changing the wheels out. I'll have a video on this on sunday. If you're confident that you're going to use it, I'd opt for a FIT model over the smaller frame APEX models. You'll also have a smoother ride, they are more sturdy, and have a wider base. Hope that helps.

      According to the limit it should fit you well, but I would also consider this machine if you want a heavier / more sturdy machine as it's on sale right now for this color. amzn.to/3N6FJrj

    Hi. I have just purchased a 2nd hand bsb1700 body sculpture. Which is similar to total gym. Do you know if/what total gym rollers and cable etc can be used on this ??? Thanks. Craig

      Unfortunately I don't, I would check with Randy at HuckProducts.com who makes replacement wheels.

    Hi, I just saw your video. I was looking to buy a used Total Gym Power Platinum. First time buyer. Can I get your opinion on this model. I don't seem to find too much according to the picture that the seller posted. Please and thank you.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  Рік тому

      I believe that one still takes the same attachments as the new models. I can't seem to see if there's a weight bar attachment option. I guess it depends on what the cost is versus just getting a new APEX model.

    Are these all of the Total Gym models? I saw one used for sale, I think it was called Platinum Plus. Could that be another machine?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 роки тому +1

      These are not all of them. There's a lot that share the "Apex" frame that are just slight variations and packaged with different attachments.

    Where does the pinnacle model from Sam's club fit in ? I have went through chemo and now have neuropathy in my feet, looking at the TG for exercise

      It has the same build as the Apex models and isn't bad in my opinion. I'd just suggest a larger squat stand attachment.

    How does the XL7 compares versus the TotalGym Fit?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  Рік тому

      The XL7 is another smaller frame model like the APEX series, but a big negative for that one is it doesn't have the weight bar attachment option. The FIT has that is a much more solid build.

    Which would you choose between the extreme (Costco) or XL7 (Sam's). Thanks.

    • @hybridresistance

      Probably the XL7 based that it's on sale for $350 at sams. They both however lack the option for the weight bar attachment, but both don't look bad.

      @@hybridresistance Thanks for your help and responding 👍🏼 I like the thought of the weight bar. Although I probably won’t use it for the first 6 months to a year. Just a mom ready to lose all the baby weight. 👶🏼👶🏻👶🏻😬 🥵So I was debating on a used TB Fit w/few attachments or a new XL7 with all the attachments!! Thanks again👍🏼

    I have a Total Trainer DLX (Bayou Fitness). No longer made, but lately one roller keeps getting chewed up. I used all my spares, any suggestions?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 роки тому +1

      I know amazon sells a bunch of spare rollers, but I'm not sure on those dimensions and if they would fit. You could try contacting them, I did once about their machine and they get back to you pretty fast. Otherwise I'd say to pick up the rollers on amazon and if they don't work to just return them.

      That is a tough decision. Can't go wrong with either of them. It is nice that the g5 is cheaper, lighter, and has increments. I would upgrade the wheels to "Huck Products" wheels though if you get a G5

    Hey, I was wondering if perhaps it's possible to drill a whole from both sides of the bench for a weight bar on models that don't come with this feature initially, such as the Xtreme model. Would that work, any one has an idea?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  Рік тому +1

      I honestly can't comment on that. I probably wouldn't recommend it, but depending on the machine and if you think it could handle it, it might work.

    • @surfinjim
      @surfinjim Рік тому

      I'l late on the topic but I'l considering inserting 2 wood studs between the bench and rails, with a hole for the tube. I have the cheapest bench on Amazon, so that's not a big risk ... The glide board will thus be slightly elevated, but not much, that shouldn't be too noticeable...
