Psychiatry requires med school (she’s right on that), but doesn’t realize it’s a doctorate, and she’d go thru all the same training as an MD (the icky part she doesn’t want to do). Yeah, we can't decide how our brain is wired by default.
      But we can very much influence our decisions in life. It may be harder, but most of us KNOW when shit is a bad idea, and at that point it's up to us to make the right decision. Some folks are seemingly allergic to making the right life decisions, and those deserve no pity.
      I would much rather spend my goodwill on people that actually TRY to improve themself/ their life.

      Especially frustrating to hear her say that psychiatry is easier to get into. Step #1 is getting into med school, which is a struggle requiring 3.8+ GPA, 1000’s of hours of volunteering and leadership, shadowing doctors, interviews etc. and THEN you apply for residency. The ‘easy’ way into psych is becoming a psychologist after 8 years of school. Not excel so well you not only get into med school, but get residency in a specialty.

It will take her some time, but I'm sure she can function as an adult in society if she puts in the hard work. I have faith that she'll do well, especially given that she wants to find something that helps her, and wants to help others as well.

      @@coreyklima8929I think this would be especially true for someone with her diagnosis. If you look into the type of therapy she mentioned needing, it’s entirely based around mindfulness and handling big emotions. If she doesn’t manage that at a place that’s “just a job”, it’s going to be more and more difficult, even with a career. Without understanding and a therapeutic mindset, you can easily get sucked into the trauma and adopt a caretaker role which only harms you both. Sincere prayer, and C. Hard talk from my brother in law to get me on the right track. And Caleb is hopefully that talk she needed.

      however, generally what i see if you’re currently in a therapy program is that you just have to fulfill the internship requirements for both state, in that state, to be eligible for that license in that state. for example if Ohio is 300 internship hours, and massachusetts is 600 hours, youll need to have 300 hours practiced in ohio and 600 practiced in Massachusetts to take licensure for that state and you can be licensed to practice in both.
      if you’re already a licensed therapist, you can look up the process per state to get your licensed transferred or to see the requirements to get additionally licensed in that state.

    Caleb! Big fan here, and I am sure you heard, but your guest here was just booked into Dallas County Jail today for assault on a family member. Not saying take it down, but something to be mindful of. Appreciate you and your videos.

    Dealing with bipolar or manic people is terrifying and hard. They are perpetually the victim while victimizing everyone around them. I really hope she gets the help she needs.

      That's completely untrue. Sounds like you just met a crappy person who happened to have bipolar. You're describing borderline personality disorder (basically a mild version of narcissism) which this girl also has.

    I would love to see a more successful person who does well with their money. I’m getting miserable watching these episodes where people are just ABSOLUTELY clueless.

      I was about to type that word for word….. but you put it well. Watching a train wreck once or twice is a freak show, but all the time is depressing. I would love the opportunity to learn from people who are successful

    • @ralph7463
      @ralph7463 9 місяців тому +20

      Unfortunately it doesn’t drive views. In reality no one cares about people who have their stuff together. Could be seen as borderline bragging depending on the person.
      People would rather see train wrecks. Makes for better content.

    • @scottshapiro2795

      @ralph. I think it would drive views. People can see "Oh John does X, Y, and Z and is doing well in life. Maybe I can try to emulate some of their habits." While I don't think it should be someone making 300k/year, but having someone on who makes 40-70k/year and seeing how they manage their finances well would be interesting and a good contrast with the other videos.
      Granted, I don't think it would drive as many views, but I think the views would still be a decent number.
