Sign up now at kickstarter.com/projects/tolarian/the-academic-133-xl for my dream come true: "The Academic." A unique, one of a kind deck box designed through creative cooperation between myself and Gamegenic!
Hi Prof! I have been a subscriber since I was 13, and I can’t express how excited I am that you finally have the box of your dreams! I am already following the kickstarter, but I really want to get one of the first thousand! Is there a particular time that it’s kicking off? I really want to make sure that I don’t miss it 🤩
$45 is less than a Doubling Season. I’m backing this, and I hope I can get an autographed one! Your humility and commitment to making the hobby affordable speaks volumes, Professor!
I spent so much time waiting for Doubling Seasons price to drop, finally got a copy of it for $48 back in 2018. I can definitely see the value in The Academic for equal price tag.
I only want to flex because it’s kinda relevant, I wanted a doubling season so I bought a few packs of battlebond, and in the second one I pulled a foil najeela, and right behind, a sweet ass doubling season. I even took a picture because I couldn’t believe it. The rest of my battlebond was meh, though, but I don’t really mind, for obvious reasons
Right! I was thinking “the professor is always conscious of price point when it comes to products and their availability to as many people as possible. 60-70$ feels like where this is going to wind up” and I’d probably pay that for it
Agreed with the A-. The only flaw is that it doesn't come with an etched foil, alt art, Phyrexian-scripted and special-framed copy of Tolarian Scholar - a true powerhouse of our times.
The fact of having a service in Europe to control shipping prices has already sold to me, such a great care for customers. It is a great deck box indeed. Thank you Professor!
This. I watched the videos on this product with scepticism, as surely it would have been to expensive to ship to europe? Well, this sparked hope. Hope to purchase a great product for a great price (Seriously Prof, "I know this isn't cheap"? It is), on the other side of the atlantic. Even if I am not able to buy this product anyways, I say thank you Professor. Thank you on behalf of the community, you are a blessing.
I may be wrong here but I think Gamegenic is a german company right? So it’s possible that Prof could simply use their shipping since they are the manufacturer.
the attention to detail on this deckbox, like the flip-down panel at 4:08, is exemplary of its quality. congrats prof! I'm stoked to watch this project take off.
“Once in a lifetime”?!?! Professor with all due respect, I don’t think you could be more wrong. You’re such a well respected figure in the Magic: the Gathering community that I can confidently say you’ll have many more opportunities like this.
45$ is honestly not bad considering the amount of storage it will provide. The ability to hold 40 card decks in the trays is invaluable for me a new Flesh and blood player.
Totally agree. It's at least two deck boxes in 1, so think of it more like 20 something per box, plus the compartments? Get outta here. I think it's a deal.
For FaB I recommend the BCW X4 XL I keep all my Blitz decks in there, tokens, dice, etc. With ease. Its super hard and protected and perfect! It can hold up to 10 decks!!! I will do a video soon
After binge-watching your back catalog of deck box reviews, I've come to a conclusion: The Professor almost certainly can make you a hell of a martini.
I remember when gamegenic started putting your reviews on their packaging - this is such a great partnership and I'm really excited to buy The Academic! I typically have 0 brand loyalty but I own like 5 strongholds because these gamegenic boxes are THAT good (thanks for popularizing them, Prof!)
Back when I was looking for a box to put my cube in I stumbled upon the 1100 dungeon. "Meh, but I'm hesitant to invest that much even if it looks great." A week later profs A+ review came out. Never been more satisfied with a game purchase.
I used to purchase exclusively Ultimate guard flip n tray boxes and sidewinders etc. They were always the sturdiest boxes. had a great feel. and never wore out on me. On a whim my local game shop had some of the Gamegenic watch towers, and showed off a display that all of their products fit snuggly inside the Dungeon box. This was new to me, as Ultimate guard had struggled with previous iterations of the Hive to do the same thing. I took a gamble, bought a couple, and two years later I've actually sold off my collection of ultimate guard boxes and used that money to purchase more of Gamegenic's boxes. the damn things are just TOO good. I've even started buying their zip up side loading binders for my playsets and trade-folio's
@@eggtimer2 March 15th is the start date, shipping cost will be revealed then. I think he said that shipping internationally was going to be subsidized somewhat or something.
I’ve never been huge into youtuber merch, especially with so many simply plastering their logo on a tshirt or mug. But this really seems like a culmination which only comes from reviewing every single deckbox, bravo!
Prof, I know what it's like to have that voice in the back of your head saying "it's not enough, it's never enough" and I want you to know that you're an amazing positive force in this community, your videos helped me when I was just getting into Magic and you're the first place I send new players. You are enough. And we are incredibly fortunate to have you.
Professor I'm sure I'm not alone when I say this but I'd love to be able to purchase this deckbox. Unfortunately I wasn't able to participate in the kickstarter but I sincerely hope you and gamegenics will consider releasing the product for sale.
I don't know why it makes me so emotional, but I'm just so happy for you and for our community! As of the posting of this comment, there are over 27,000 people set for notification on release of your Kickstarter! It's simply amazing.
I can't even remember the last time I played magic in-person, yet I find myself eager to purchase this box. It is really well done, and $45? I thought I was going to be shelling out $60 or $70!
I haven't even watched the video and also haven't played paper magic in 2 years (sold many of my cards last month) and feel like purchasing this case just to support the prof
I haven't played magic for years but I was an avid watcher of your channel during the time that I did. You were always the go-to for fair and honest reviews and advice. While I may not play anymore, I still watch the odd video of yours here and there, as well as play a number of other board and card games with friends. So the least I can do to say thank you for all those years is support your own kickstarter...plus, you always need a nice travel deck box for those board and card games, right?! So, thank you Professor.
I specifically remember those magnetic tabs as being one of Prof's favourite features of a deckbox he previously reviewed. I'd say a Professor that takes notes as easily as he instructs is one worth listening to.
Prof, as an engineer that focuses primarily on user experience and user interface, I am loving the care and attention to detail that went into how this product would actually be used. There's room for anything and everything, and the top small storage compartment even acts as a convenient dice rolling tray, so no more D20s skittering off to parts unknown. If I could offer one small addition, it would be nice to have a divider card in that same Gamegenic triple-ply construction, for sliding into that big main compartment. Something that would keep two loose decks separate, for example, so that you can reliably pull just the cards from one deck and not bring along a few stowaways. Also good for keeping a deck and its sideboard separated, or a draft kit of presleeved lands and extra sleeves separate from that night's draft deck. Perhaps that could be an optional add-on in the kickstarter? Or perhaps you've already thought of that and we'll see it as a stretch goal. Only one way to find out, I'll see you all on the other side next week.
you could potentially make a small 3d printed, or get an acrylic cut redo of the main compartment acrylic divider that joins with another piece in the little out of the way slot for it?
I know this has been said in other comments, so here’s a reiteration: my first thought was that this is perfect for pre-release. Convenient place for pre-sleeved lands and extra sleeves, space for tokens and blanks, and a place to hold all your pulls right off the bat! Plus, space for a spare between games deck! This and a play mat tube is everything you need, so you don’t even need a special carry case. The $45 price point is just icing on the cake.
You don't *need* a special carry case, no. But don't you *want* a special carry case? Seriously, if this Kickstarter goes well I hope the Professor would consider making something like the Quiver, in which to carry the Academic deck box.
A box like this is the kind of thing that would make me actually want to go to Prereleases again. I'm selling my way out of the hobby, save for a few of my favorite Commander decks for the odd game in the future (or if the grid goes down), but if I had a single box that could sustain all my needs during a Prerelease I'd be tempted to actually go.
Hmm. That's a good idea for when I return to in-store pre-release. Right now my group orders kits and a box and plays at one of our houses. I'm aiming for New Capenna to be in store again, so we'll see.
The amount of thought and attention to detail that went into this is stunningly apparent, as is the material quality. I'll be hitting that kickstarter, not because I really need a new deck box, but because products like this deserve support.
When you said $45 I was floored at how affordable that number was, I was extremely prepared to see a figure upwards of $60 (and definitely prepared to buy it at that price point) I really hope this project does well and I'm totally going to be gunning for being one of those first 1000!
You know, I really just started watching your channel about a month ago, but you always seem so genuine. I just bought a large deck box, but I’ll be supporting this! Looks like an incredible product.
I think those notches in the box are genius. I immediately thought, “Wow, that’s extremely convenient.” I was also surprised that I guessed the price correctly! “Hmm, I’d probably pay around $45 for this.” And BOOM. $45! Once midnight the 15th comes around, I’m hitting that support button as fast as I can to get the early bird. That signature will be the envy of my playgroup.
Hi, Professor. Just thought I'd offer my honest opinion. Gamegenic's style is my favorite. I love the material and the magnets. I think the sizes of the compartments and shelves are perfect, I love the flap over the shelves, and the grooves deserve a chef's kiss. That said, I don't think I'll but this product, and it's not about price. Personally, I just want to get as many decks to my destination as possible in a neat and orderly way. I hope that this project succeeds and that you continue with a larger carrying case (chocolate bar carrying bag carrying bag) that 's good for 4-10 decks. Keep up the good work. Thanks, prof.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME, WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!" 🤣 Alright, I'm not prone to getting deck boxes but I've been watching your deck box reviews for years now and this... You got me, I'm sold. I couldn't want more out of a deck box if I tried you really outdid yourself with this Professor. 😁👍
The Cards Lair is $5 more and it holds 400 cards and you can buy it now. I already have a card's lair and there's no reason to buy this deck box. This price point is very disappointing for a box that only holds 1 or 2 decks.
@@danielpalombo-tejera1495 @Daniel Palombo-Tejera cards lair's RRP is $15 more than this, and personally too bulky as a 'deck box' for me. This is much more suitable to my needs. But hey, if 100 people designed their perfect box, you'd have 100 different designs. If this isn't for you, then that's fine... to me it looks awesome :)
@@Geekism I understand the MSRP for the Cards Lair might be higher, but I already actually paid $50 from Amazon for it. It's easily attainable at that price. If I can easily attain an academic for $30 I would say it would be a slam dunk, but I would hardly say $45 is a bargain. I'm not here to disparage the product, I'm just saying it's relatively expensive. The product itself looks gorgeous.
This feels perfect to bring to draft, sleeves in a tray, hold the rest of your draft cards in that tray or the other, hold a commander deck for in between rounds. I love it
The exact Same thing that I thought of, as a Bonus as a Person who plays multiple tcgs on varieing lvls. This is amazing to also carry a Yu-Gi-Oh or Digimon Deck with me! (Especialy If I don't bring a competitive Deck but my fun 1 ofs bakura Deck)
Got 2 Academics during the kickstarter and I'm now using them for my Lorcana league decks and dices and it works perfectly. Thank you so much for such a great product made thoughtfully and by thinking about the players and not of it as a simple "container". Already converted a few players to them and I hope that we'll keep it up. Great product all around.
I really hope you succeed! And kudos to The Academic, covering each and every single need I've ever had for safekeeping my decks and supplements. Truly a great deckbox that I hope I can put my sweat- ahm gentle hands on. Can't wait for the kickstarter to open!
So Professor, did you ever imagine you would come this far back when you released your "Can I have a Dollar?" video a few years ago? Now you are able to realize a vision years in the making! Congrats!
Got my academic XL today. Im so happy that I finally have something to show that Im one of the TCC Community ^_^ its a great Box and now holds 2 of my Atraxa Commander Decks ^_^ much love and thanks Prof!
Partnering with Gamegenic was absolutely the way to go on this. I've switched to pretty much only using their storage solutions they are just such high quality. And the little things like the tabs to make it easy to pull out the trays so you don't need to struggle to get them out. just.. *Chef's Kiss*
While stanced for standard sized card games, the amount of options open to small/Japanese sized card games is astounding. Each of the smaller compartments can house an entire Yugioh deck. I can't even wrap my head around that
I was thinking exactly this. You could fit two Magic 60 card decks and two Yugioh decks and counters and be ready to play two different games at any time.
Prof, you're the reason I got back into magic back in 2016. In 2017 I built your Ephara deck and it's still one of my favorites to play and she will find a nice home in this deck box. I'm definitely backing this box and I hope I'll get an 'Early Bird' edition, but I know that won't be easy with as many people who will be backing this as well. I will always try to support this channel and everything you do in hopes you do feel you deserve all the love and support you get from us strangers on the internet. Keep up the amazing work you do everyday!
I've probably watched every product review The Professor has ever made and I have to say.... this box looks like a true labor of love in its design. The multi functionality of the design, the quality of life improvements, and the durability of the seal all together make it seem well worth the $45, even if it wasn't for The Professor. However, since it is for him, I would have paid the price for a mediocre box (thankfully this isn't the case, pun intended). And Professor, if you happen to read this, I'd like to personally thank you for the years of service to the TCG communities. You have been, and likely will continue to be, the type of content creator and person that I look up to. I wish you all the best in life P.S. I'm probably going to buy 3 of your boxes. One for me and one for each of my closest friends who play magic
Prof, I absolutely love the attention to detail. Especially the grooves in the storage compartments so you can pick up cards easier. The amount of times I’ve had troubles picking up the last card in my deck or ruining a token card trying to scrape it out the bottom is crazy! Love it. Keep up the good work!
Prof you are an absolute gem! Not just in this community but in the world at large. Wonderful to see you achieving your goals and aspirations. You are an inspiration and I truly wish more people were like you. Wonderful deck box too! 😀😀
I was trying to guess what this would cost before you revealed it. My guess was $50, so well done on providing a high quality product at a very reasonable price.
$45 doesn't even begin to cover the value I've derived from this channel over the years, not just from Magic tips but through sheer enjoyment of the content you provide us. Congratulations on this venture Prof, and best of luck!
That price point feels like a steal, I was expecting $60 or more, tbh. Will happily be backing this in the hope that having it kicks me into gear on building my first Commander deck. Can't wait!
Don't worry about commander decks too much. My daughter really wanted to play it because there were more commander players locally but hated the format once she played it. These boxes look so good for everyone that plays a card game.
I remember when I was a young kid looking for their first “ridged” deck box for a GP in 2014. I’ll definitely be adding this to my FNM bag, Thank you Prof for all the reviews and advice on that satin tower.
Over the years what I've found I appreciate the most out of the Professor is his integrity. I think I follow what he does more out of that sense than anything else. I don't get to even play Magic anymore like I want to, but the Professor is just a good guy it makes following every video worth it. I know we shouldn't trust anyone out here selling us something, but if there were one person I trusted it would be the Professor. He would be a hero of mine if I had heroes. There's no one else I've wanted to sit across the table from, shake their hand, and catch a game with more.
This review was actually really nice for showing what the intent of the product is, like I didn't even think about the fact that I could fit both of my Modern decks in the main compartment while using the trays for sideboards. No more mixing the sideboard into the deck by mistake! If I can afford the kickstarter I'll back this one.
I didn't even know your channel existed 1 year ago.. heck I didn't even know commander existed and had sort of taken over magic! Shows what 20+ years away can bring! Lots of love for the channel and the box looks amazing! Looking forward to a bright future playing and teaching magic to my kids! A game that has brought me such joy in the past, and I am confident will do so for many years to come.
I gawked at the price-tag! I was expecting much much higher than that! For such a small scale and premium quality it's amazing you managed to nail it down so much! It's not down with the mass market alternatives, but it's very competitive!
I am seriously blown away at that price, I was expecting minimum $60 for how nice and sturdy it clearly is. I don't have many Commander decks and none that I'm very emotionally attached to, this makes me want to make one just to fill this box with.
I am extremely excited for this product . A deck box coming from someone who has reviewed and personally handled most of if not all deck box brands. Of course this will be the box I use it has everything you need and I'm so so happy you are the one behind it.
Just wanna say Prof this has got to be the best deck box I've ever seen! I just bought your colorway (teal/pink) and these colors are explosive! The magnets are pretty strong but the grooves where the magnets sit is what really holds this piece together! The only complaint or modification I would suggest is a display window for commander. Other than that this is a 10/10 product and for the price you can't go wrong!
2:49 I love the snubbing of YuGiOh in there! I was howling. I look forward to putting my YuGiOh decks into this deck box, a quality deckbox trascends card games! I backed the Professor Exclusive and I've got an extra 266XL to really show it. The good thing is that a tray can hold 40 cards, which means that I *can* put a YuGiOh deck in each tray + a few more in the tops. Some people make "sideboards", *I WILL SIDE OUT A WHOLE DECK!*
What an inspiring individual. That much care, attention, passion, consideration. Such an awesome opportunity. I certainly intend to support this as much as I can reasonably afford to!
Now we'll wait for a very little "Secret Lair: Tolarian Community College Deck Box" made with the same robust build, same compartments and materials, but able to hold just four to five cards - but double the price! That's Wizards of the Coast way.
I've been watching you since I decided to start grabbing magic cards on a whim around Battle for Zendikar. The cards brought back a lot of memories for me since we always fostered kids in my family and I can remember playing with Beta cards around the age of 8 with those guys we fostered. I was their LGS tourney dummy for their decks they handed me 🤣. Since then I've moved on to my youths card game of Pokemon but I still watch every one of your videos. I'm sooooooo stoked for you Professor, for this momentous occasion. I'll be buying this and most likely the stretch goals. Thank you for not only being a Master Liaison to MTG, but to TCGs as a greater whole, and a true friend to so many. You make the hobby of TCG a better place and without you the hobby wouldn't be the same. -Sincerely, Some random Schmuck from the Midwest.
I own a gamegenic deck box. It is one of the best quality boxes on the market. Having you team up with them is honestly an amazing collaboration. Happy you were able to cross off a bucket list item and are able to provide card players with a top quality product.
The only issue I have with this is trying to decide if I want to get a second one lol, this looks amazing and exactly what I've been looking for. My Nethroi thanks you for his new home.
This is sweet, man. I've been watching your videos since right after I got out of high school almost 8 years ago and it's heartwarming to see all of your experience reviewing result in such a feature-rich box. It was clearly meticulous planned in a way that nothing else seems to match right now. It would be a disservice to you not to support this after all the joy your channel has brought me
From what I could see just in the video, I'm thrilled that you were able to design this deck box. It is perfect in my eyes. What seriously does it for me is holding top loaders. But with the option of moving the acrylic to the side and not have the cards shuffle side to side, it is genius. Cannot wait to back the kick start. And even though I'm not a fan of purple, the way it melds with the black and your logo it just fits so well. Thank you for giving us the sneak peak on your deck box! Take care!
He answered this on discord last week. “Afraid we couldn't swing the numbers on a retailers tier. One thing we prioritized was keeping cost low for the consumer, which is tough when you are working with this quality of materials. As such, a retailer tier just wasn't viable 😦”
@@johnrobertson1 - Darn, Id love to pick up some of these for my store. I know a few people outside of the traditional CCG community that would love these. but theyre not fans of the ks model. Maybe ill just pass the word on to them, or even just pick some up to resell at zero profit. (it wouldnt be the only things I have in the shop that qualify for that)
@@gabrielsanmiguel9255 might be worth buying/locking them in at the KS price itself. If they’re sold after-the-fact, the price may very well be higher, and if they’re not sold after the KS, well, then the price will definitely be over 100, especially if you get the signed ones.
@@Grinningfartking6969 a large number of Kickstarter's do have this, often they even will show the retailer rates hidden in a link in the Kickstarter. (retailer rates are normally 50% for board games, and they have better shipping rates since they order in volume)
"Finally, a deck box that can hold all my tokens! No more 'oh, that's just my quantity dice' for me!" -Wilhelt, Rotcleaver More seriously, looks really solid and capable of handling that _one_ super high maintenance deck that needs everything, like my Korvold, Token Rancher deck, but it seems redundant for simpler builds. What if you followed this up with a super compact version that's just the deck box? Or perhaps just the stackable dice drawers? Or what about a version that has two merged drawers that can hold a commander deck (or a _particularly_ fat token package... you know who you are...) while the highest drawer holds dice? Get all Henry Ford up in here. That way, you can get what you need, not what you don't, and mix and match components to meet the needs of your collection. And then comes an even _bigger_ box that can hold all the different configurations for several decks. You could call it a "Dormitory" (where all the "Academics" go).
my mother bought me your deck box for my birthday professor. I must say i LOVE it. thank you for your reviews and making a box worthy of the players with the players in mind
Truly an amazing value for an awesome box! I have been following you for a while and finally getting back into MTG card play after years of a post-graduate side quest. I cannot wait for the release and truly hope for one of the 1,000 limited editions. Thanks for all that you do!
I'm so bummed! I got to the Kickstarter Project page within 15 minutes of launch and wasn't able to get the Early Bird :( I tried about 10 times, but obey the Student version would process for me. Love the deck box! Great work!
Awesome work Prof, was honestly waiting for you to do something like this given how your reviews have made a very clear list of must have attributes of the ideal deck box.
Now THAT is an absolutely perfect price. I was genuinely nervous leading up to the price reveal. I audibly said "WHOA!" loud enough for my wife to come and see what happened. I do a lot of deck box and accessory reviews so I am HYPED to give this one a go. =D
Thank you for this deck box Professor. This is an example of ingenuity and proper knowledge coming together to produce a product actually designed for the users.
this is actually an incredible deck box. kind of does everything? looks like I'll be at my computer on the 15th to see if I can be one of the first backers if possible edit: $45 is fair considering apparent quality, and functionality. love this.

Academic Deck Boxes are now banned in casual play on every fifth Wednesday.
Awful bold to assume boxes won’t get banned one day.

I’ve never been huge into youtuber merch, especially with so many simply plastering their logo on a tshirt or mug.
But this really seems like a culmination which only comes from reviewing every single deckbox, bravo!

-The Professor 2022
Prof, I know what it's like to have that voice in the back of your head saying "it's not enough, it's never enough" and I want you to know that you're an amazing positive force in this community, your videos helped me when I was just getting into Magic and you're the first place I send new players. You are enough. And we are incredibly fortunate to have you.
You said it. And more elegantly than I could have.
Professor I'm sure I'm not alone when I say this but I'd love to be able to purchase this deckbox. Unfortunately I wasn't able to participate in the kickstarter but I sincerely hope you and gamegenics will consider releasing the product for sale.
Yes, me too.. hope this gets bumped up enough
I would pay 55$ please please plerase please
I too somehow missed out..
They just announced it is going to retail early next year
@@ther3aper561Oh nice! I'll keep my eyes out!
I don't know why it makes me so emotional, but I'm just so happy for you and for our community! As of the posting of this comment, there are over 27,000 people set for notification on release of your Kickstarter! It's simply amazing.
Up to over 35k as of this comment!
I can't even remember the last time I played magic in-person, yet I find myself eager to purchase this box. It is really well done, and $45? I thought I was going to be shelling out $60 or $70!
When he got to the price, I fully expected $60+. Wow!
I very much lowballed, £20, £40 oof
I haven't even watched the video and also haven't played paper magic in 2 years (sold many of my cards last month) and feel like purchasing this case just to support the prof
I actually contributed 60$ instead of 45, just because I wanted to support the Prof.
I wished I saw this when the kickstarter was active - I would love to get one.
Good news!
Ooh that is smart! I already knew that I was going to buy this box, but now I know what I'm going to do with it!
Its basicky the Cards Lair turnt into a Deckbox. But with space for toploaders/Deckboxes inside it. And better ways to pickup the tiny things in em
Hmm. That's a good idea for when I return to in-store pre-release. Right now my group orders kits and a box and plays at one of our houses. I'm aiming for New Capenna to be in store again, so we'll see.
The fact that this is the first thing that actually carries top loaders sells me on it. I have every commander in a top loader.
The amount of thought and attention to detail that went into this is stunningly apparent, as is the material quality. I'll be hitting that kickstarter, not because I really need a new deck box, but because products like this deserve support.
This. I don't necessarily need this product but I still will be getting one. Early b-day present.
It's 3pm on the 15th. I'm assuming california time
@@greezyxl9862 3pm EST according to the kickstarter page.
I honestly would have been down to pay 60-80 so it feels like a bargain
Thank you! I’m CST, so 2:00pm. I would have been waaaaay off.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME, WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!" 🤣
Alright, I'm not prone to getting deck boxes but I've been watching your deck box reviews for years now and this... You got me, I'm sold. I couldn't want more out of a deck box if I tried you really outdid yourself with this Professor. 😁👍
$45 is a frickin' bargain, I was expecting 80+
Yeah I was thinking halfway through the video it would be $80
The Cards Lair is $5 more and it holds 400 cards and you can buy it now.
@@danielpalombo-tejera1495 the card’s lair is also a simpler design
This feels perfect to bring to draft, sleeves in a tray, hold the rest of your draft cards in that tray or the other, hold a commander deck for in between rounds. I love it
same! the perfect draft/pre-release companion
Exactly what I was thinking.
wooow good thinking
Are they still available for purchase via Kickstarter?? I’ve never used the service, and I noticed the last update sounded like a “closing shop” post.
Partnering with Gamegenic was absolutely the way to go on this. I've switched to pretty much only using their storage solutions they are just such high quality. And the little things like the tabs to make it easy to pull out the trays so you don't need to struggle to get them out. just.. *Chef's Kiss*
I love their little plastic boxes too. They're perfect for the Stanley organizers I've got all of my pre-constructed commander decks in :)
Amazing detailed video professor! Looking forward to try and be an early bird :) Its almost time to kick that starter!
Cheaper than I was expecting! Cannot wait to get one .... or three!
I wish you all the best in life
That groove was truly genius.
That shake test had me laughing so hard! Thank you for being you, Prof, and thank you for this. :)
I never considered what the Prof's O face looked like, but now I think I know.
Honestly was guessing $60 so am very pleased
$45 doesn't even begin to cover the value I've derived from this channel over the years, not just from Magic tips but through sheer enjoyment of the content you provide us. Congratulations on this venture Prof, and best of luck!
You can just tell how genuinely excited he is and how much thought was put into every detail 10/10 !
The fact that it fits 2 regular constructed decks + space for tokens, dice and extra sleeves already makes it a fantastic choice for any mtg player.
Finally! The Professor rates his own work
Love this! That little groove enabling you to get to the bottom card with ease - chefs kiss. Thats the level of detail i love to see. Amazing work 👏 👏
Congratulations, Professor. This looks amazing. You clearly care a lot about the details, and I think it shows.
I remember when I was a young kid looking for their first “ridged” deck box for a GP in 2014. I’ll definitely be adding this to my FNM bag, Thank you Prof for all the reviews and advice on that satin tower.
This is not only sleek and awesome looking, but love that being able to properly hold the deck with different options was put as a high standard!
I will get one!!! Looking forward to it Prof!
The mad man did the shake test! I can't wait to back this. I hope to see more of your products Professor. Congratulations!
out of all deck boxes you have reviewed, this by far is the most perfect deck box i've ever seen. it fits everything !!
It feels like it’s super worth it!!!!!
I gawked at the price-tag! I was expecting much much higher than that! For such a small scale and premium quality it's amazing you managed to nail it down so much! It's not down with the mass market alternatives, but it's very competitive!
The attention to every little detail on this box is stunning!!
The yu-gi-oh was probably left out due to being smaller. I think ygo cards are .25 #smaller jn both directions
@@AlexJCross but not thickness, which is what really counts in deckboxes.
@@rolebo1 True!...are YGO cards thicker then magic cards?
I'm more excited for this deck box than every Magic set coming out this year. And I'm very excited for the magic sets this year!

Same, sad I missed this. I don't even play Magic! but the construction is so cool.
I’m just getting into the game, and his passion for the game and energy is incredible
Keep doing your thing, brother!
The excitement on your face as you shake that box is really lovely. This looks like a fantastic product.
You had me at "a groove so that you can lift the bottom card." 😍
Now we'll wait for a very little "Secret Lair: Tolarian Community College Deck Box" made with the same robust build, same compartments and materials, but able to hold just four to five cards - but double the price!
That's Wizards of the Coast way.
i want it to scream "secret lair alert" when you open it
I've been watching you since I decided to start grabbing magic cards on a whim around Battle for Zendikar.

This box is the epitome of "Yo dawg, I heard you like deck boxes..."
I missed out on this and I really want it, I'm really hoping for a general release because this is the perfectly designed deck box I need.
I own a gamegenic deck box. It is one of the best quality boxes on the market. Having you team up with them is honestly an amazing collaboration.
Happy you were able to cross off a bucket list item and are able to provide card players with a top quality product.
That price is much lower than I expected! I had budgeted about $80 for it. Well done! Can’t wait for them to drop.
I feel like $45 is reasonable for what it offers. Game genic charges 20 for the normal boxes
Yea, I would have probably stomached around $80, was expecting $60, I'm there with bells and whistles @ $45
It would be a disservice to you not to support this after all the joy your channel has brought me
What a beautiful box. I hope it comes to stores!
i missed the chance to help back this project but i really hope i will be able to get this amazing deck box.
Take care!
Serious Question: Will there be a "retailer incentive" layer, for brick and mortar stores that might want to carry this?
kickstarter things dont tend to allow that
He answered this on discord last week.
No more 'oh, that's just my quantity dice' for me!" -Wilhelt, Rotcleaver
More seriously, looks really solid and capable of handling that _one_ super high maintenance deck that needs everything, like my Korvold, Token Rancher deck, but it seems redundant for simpler builds.
+1 for a super compact more portable 'just a deck box' version in the future!
my mother bought me your deck box for my birthday professor. I must say i LOVE it. thank you for your reviews and making a box worthy of the players with the players in mind
Please do another chance to get one of these for the folks just now discovering this.
