  • Hello everybody and welcome back from what was a rather long break since my last vid!
    I was invited down to Coate Water Railway in Swindon, to meet my friend Robert and run some 5" gauge locomotives, in between the railway running their regular passenger service.
    The Railway is a very big almost mile long circuit, so a great place to test out your locomotives performance!
    I took my London Transport class 20 & my recently finished riding truck, while Robert also bought a few of his locos down too, which included 3x STUNNING diesel hydraulics aswell as a GBRf class 50!
    we all had a great day out and I recommend a visit if you are ever in the area.
    Big thanks go to the members of Coate Water for the warm welcome, aswell as Robert for making it happen.
    Check out their website at coatewaterrailway.wixsite.com... and pop along for a passenger ride on their public running days!
    Also, check out www.AGRModelRailwayStore.co.uk for all your modelling needs, support those local model shops!
    Eric x

    Great video! Swindon has two best kept secrets, the Coate Water Railway and the Swindon & Cricklade Railway - both well worth a visit if you're a train nut.

    Excellent video, my compliments from New Zealand. Always love the Western, your class 20 is beautiful with the trim in place, and I was floored by the GBRf class 50. All amazing, and all with sound. Keep safe, looking forward to your next production. Definitely subscribed.

    We have now been to Swindon 2 times and enjoyed every minute. Helping out at Halloween was mad with the shear numbers going through. Dressed up of course. Robert is one of the nicest guys you could meet and a great friend. We were in fact chatting by a model track yesterday. My current design is in 7 1/4" and based on a lawnmower. All B S 450 of course. Some will get the joke. Love from David and Lily.

    Oh my lord, it's a small world! Rob did my 5th birthday party at the RSME in Reading (best party ever, and first time I drove a loco!), had a whale of a time and had many a ride behind his steam loco, Polar Star! Last saw him at the OOC open day with the ochre whizzo, good to know its still going!

    I had a nightmare last night when I was sleeping about 2 trains crashing together and my nightmare came true and then I heard a crash in my model railway room and a a stock crashed into a class 378 for no reason and I was so surprised when it happened for the first time in my life ?!

    Excuse the ignorance why is there a third rail ?
    Thanks

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Trevor, its a dual gauge track, the outer rail is for 7&1/4 gauge trains, the 5” stuff uses the inner one

    Awesome looking engines, I see you have a third rail,presumably that's for the other gauge?

    • @UndergroundEric
      @UndergroundEric  3 роки тому +1

      The extra rail is because the track is dual gauge, the 5” locos run on the inner rail, the 7&1/4” stuff runs on the outer 🙂

      In this scale most including all of these are battery powered with electric motors and then an additional sound system. Ive seen a couple petrol powered setups which are kinda cool though.
