MOUNT NORMAN AND BEAUMONT TRAILS | Pender Island, British Columbia | Hiking with my Shepherd-Dobie

Pender Island is one of the spectacular Southern Gulf Islands in the Salish Sea which offers pristine bays and beaches, and several recreational opportunities such as hiking, kayaking, biking, golf, and many others. It is accessed via ferry from Tsawwassen if coming from Vancouver, or Swartz Bay if coming from Victoria. It consists of two main islands: the North and South Pender Island.
Among its famous and must-do hikes are the Mount Norman and Beaumont trails as they offer magnificent views of the Canadian and U.S. mountains: the Olympic National park, San Juan and Orcas islands, Vancouver island, the Skull Islet, to name a few. Mount Norman is the highest point of Pender Island and a nice spot to watch bald eagles take flight.
Both trails are located in the South Pender Island. Trailhead is off Ainsley Road point, which is just past the bridge connecting North and South Pender Island. They are part of the Gulf Island National Park Reserve and offers several facilities such as backcountry camping at the Beaumont Marine Campsite, washrooms, picnic tables and use of mooring buoys. Both are family and dog-friendly trails.
At less than 1 km from the trailhead is the Mount Norman - Beaumont trail junction. Going straight further up will take you to Mount Norman. Going right (on your hike-in) will take you to the Beaumont trail with Ainsley viewpoint along the way and the Beaumont Marine Park and campground at the farthest end.
Another must-visit area in South Pender Island are the Brooks Point Regional Park and Gowlland Point. Please check out my other video:
