Kinda interesting, I used to live in the Philippines and when I play at home casually, (now in the US) I always set the damage to the lowest setting if they give me the option. Never knew it was an actual thing until now.
I've said this 1000 times and I'll say it again: Jin Saotome is a sick-ass character that deserves a spot on _any and all_ Capcom crossover games... Also it's a _SHAME_ that Asura hasn't appeared in a fighting game despite duking it out with Ryu and Akuma in his own game.

MvC2 is no joke, one of my favorite games of all time and I'd kill for a proper remaster on current platforms. It's nice to see more community awareness surrounding probably my favorite Capcom fighting game and Capcom fighting game series

Love that this came up now that mvc fighting collecting has been announced. Seeing them have this conversation gets me ready for their triple KO episode that follws up on this, now years later
I play Guile, Charlie, and Captain America and I ran my neighborhood arcades like a boss! I always knew I was playing what people considered low tier/ mid tier characters, but I just lived on the machine and played EVERYBODY! Getting around heavy range styles would always make me have to rethink my play.
I still love it!

As much as I loved MvCI gameplay wise, this made me spit out my drink. Lmao
I swear that game came out at the worst possible time. Had they waited they wouldn't have had to worry about many of the issues regarding the roster and the rights to certain characters like the X men. Also it would've benefitted from a delay to overhaul look and presentation. It really didn't help that DBFZ came along and blew that game out of the water.

I remember as a kid I figured out hayato had a secret special where he turned into B. Hayato like a raging demon type of move; I practiced for weeks to do it, then landing it in a match against my cousin. It was so satisfying.

It's crazy how Capcom, SNK, and Tatsunoko are not addressing how much people have been wanting this. They skipped out the PS4 gen so hopefully we can get it on this gen on PS4, XSX, and Switch.
It would be really dope if someone modded this game and made the top tier (Gods) average. Then you would see ALL the potential of the other characters!

This game is truly something special. It's the game that I would actively seek out whenever I was in an arcade and if I found it I basically only played it the whole time I was there. My greatest memory with the game was playing one time at Disney Quest I ended running a long set against another guy (I think it ended up turning into a FT10) and we ended up attracting a small crowd. But also playing MvC 2 on XBLA with my friends was some of the best times I have had with fighting games.

its easier for them to speak on this especially since they're both involved in the scene (sorta not really Max) but with Darkstalkers I think the only thing that's happened between them is that JWong played in a tournament a bit ago

The Darkstalkers Resurrection compilation game still exists for purchase/download on PS3/XBox360. The lackluster sales of the game is one of the reasons Capcom still hasn't given us a new Darkstalkers game. Buy the game and support the franchise if you can!

We need to make MVC2 comeback again, new generation of gamers that didn't get to experience that much fun we had back in 2000 and why it remains as one of the best fighting games ever made.

@@kenshinvxat Kof 2000 was the last game made by OG SNK before their bankruptcy (until Kof XIV) after this SNK Playmore took over the franchise and gave us some really amazing games such as Kof 11,Kof 13,Kof 2000,Kof Neowave and NeoGeo Battle Colliseum.
I had the DreamCast version. That was the VERY best version aside from the arcade of course.

@@aoclive6710they printed none of the PS2 port. I worked at a GameStop in 2003 and we'd get one or two copies. The newer fighting games weren't selling but people were always asking if we had MvC2 on PS2

_MVC2_ was one of the few fighting games I just didn't "get" - especially with those HUGE jumps _("Where am I?! Where's my opponent?!")_ …but _damn_ was it fun as all Hell.
I need to see if I can get my 360 to work again…

@@georgehernandez2156 the low-tier tournament that Yipes did commentary for in 2019 was THE BEST. Watching a tournament with no Magneto/Cable/Storm showed how much more fun the game is without them

Something else that contributes to MvC2's enduring popularity is the varied cast of characters. We've got X-Men, Avengers, Street Fighters, Spidermen, Darkstalkers, and even classic Capcom Characters. Something for everyone.
Once this is successful, you can work on bringing back Capcom vs SNK 2.

I remember seeing X-men vs Street Fighter for the first time in my small town and it was one of the most amazing things ever. My dad never took us to the mall but whenever we went, I was so excited to go see it become MvC and then MvC2. Good times

I dumped thousands of hours into exploring all kinds of characters back in 2000-2004 in college. The low tier characters are so fun to explore.

I worked at a GameStop in 2003, probably the darkest time for fighting games. The demand for the PS2 port of MvC2 was so real but they didnt print any of them. Nobody was buying the new fighting games but people were always asking for MvC2 and we'd only get one or two shipped to us
If we get that MVC2 remake I'd love a built-in Ratio Mode with online ladder. That would bring me back so fast.
I still have my copy of MvC2 for Dreamcast . its one of my most prized possessions. I just don't have a dreamcast anymore lol. Here's to hoping it gets a re-release someday 🤘❤
Hey Max, I wrote a piece on the Philippine MvC2 meta (level 1 damage) on the Marvel vs Capcom 2 facebook page back in 2014. I was also the one doing commentary for the match that Jwong was commenting. The arcade hardware also has a function to change timer *Speed*, so we were set for the longest time to Damage 1, longest timer so that the players would get more play time on their tokens.
I believe the console versions don't have a setting to change timer speed so it was very hard to recreate the arcade experience in console. Its only until 2 years ago that people were starting to explore playing it in US/Evo/Default settings.
Rewatching this video knowing that we are getting MvC 2 later this year!!!!

Growing up we always played on damage level 1. Makes the matches last longer.
Never forget I was 16 years old in 2000 and my local arcade in the mall had MvC2 and there was always a line to play it took forever! Thankfully later that year I got it on Dreamcast. My favorite fighting game ever!

12:05 This reminds me of a cool MvC2 tournament concept. There was a tournament Justin entered where you had so many points and characters cost points to be on your team. The higher the tier the more points they cost, making for some interesting team compositions!
I played this game alot with my cousin at my uncle's house and we had so much fun with it. I hope this game gets ported to switch and other modern consoles
