Touché FAIL Day 😭 | Indian Ringneck Parrot Training Goes WRONG
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 вер 2024
- An update on training Touché to accept touch... or not!!!! What a day!!!
Moms of more than one everywhere are probably laughing at me struggling with more than one... but something about the dynamic between cousins instead of on the block friends has really changed things around the house for me. I have a very hard time training with other people around anyway, and I should be training with less distractions but... it's just not possible right now so time to wait it out!!
What did you think of my massive fail day?

I have Touché now and he is so special to me! I adopted him shortly after he came home from Jamileigh’s. His wings are perfectly grown out and he zooms and twists and turns in and out of rooms! He loves his flock of Caiques, an Eclectus and a Cockatiel. He’s picked up several phrases too. I enjoy seeing these videos of him because I can now see what Jamie worked with him on. He hasn’t forgotten anything! ❤️
Omg really. I was wondering who adopted him. He is so cute
I am so happy he has a good home and flock! He's such a cutie
Please look after him well
He needs so much love
Indian Ringnecks are always so sociable once they trust their human Friend
PROUD OWNER OF TALKING INDIAN RINGNECK
@NormalBirdLady lol I’ve had him for almost two years now (I think🤔). He wants to love my new Eclectus (his first best friend/Eclectus passed away last October. He was on another BirdTricks video called “This Eclectus HATES men!”). Niko was amazing and Whiskey (my new boy) is also just amazing! Touché was so unbelievably excited to see Whiskey because he thought it was Niko. It broke my heart because clearly Touché was missing his friend sooooo much but Whiskey and Touché have a “careful” bond🤣. It’s a love-hate relationship. You can catch up with Touché at touche_indyboy on IG. I’m not on there a lot but you can see what he’s been up to😁
@@jennifermarriott1778 I’m confused- jamielynn posted this within the last day, but Touché has been rehabbed and out of her care for years? Why would she only now be posting the updates ?
My budgie now really like being out of the cage and flying laps around my room. I also gave him the opportunity to forage and seems like he likes it
Nice that your budgie gets to live like a bird with you! He must really appreciate it. 🥰
I have 4 budgies. Every time I watch other species, I soooo much want to add to my flock but then I take a deep breath, step back and restore my sanity.
omg same with me! i have two female cockatiels and would LOVE to have a conure, but i know i wouldnt be able to commit right now.
Same! 😅
I saw this on instagram and I was like, "I have to see what's going on!"
Seeing Touché being so enthusiastic when Lefty arrived reminds me of my own indian ringneck Leo. I realized that ringnecks get more enthusiastic when they are jealous. I got two ringnecks myself and my girl Maya used to be a super scared bird but overcame her fear by watching Leo getting treats and being jealous because of that. Leo will push Maya away to train and get treats from me, too.
omg my cockatiel mabel only started wanting to be pet when she saw her sister getting pet, youre so right!!!!
Touché is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Even his footsteps sound cute to me. Jamie should get to desensitize herself with a spa retreat after all of that! 💆🏼♀️
"He comes off as confident but then when he gets there, he gets freaked out" Me too, buddy! :D
Oh man thank goodness you clarified this was a video from two years ago!! I saw this and was like WTF THEY BOTH ARE BACK?!? Nooooo!!!! Lol
Aww his little noises are adorable 🥰
I’d say a bit of both. Ricco is definitely curious of everything, but still cautious .
My cockatiel is not afraid of anything… My Indian ringneck, on the other hand, is afraid of everything LOL. He’s very curious but he will fly away the second he gets suspicious. Even though I’ve had him since he was a baby, he is very suspicious and it takes a lot to gain his trust. I work with him on all the things that trigger him in hopes to desensitize him. So to answer your question, yes I agree!
aw that unwanted by human in the title hits me in the gut all the time lol
I loved this Ringneck Parrot 🦜! Interesting to watch your Training Session. I loved the little one too! Both are so cute!!! I love the Ringneck’s sounds n when he speaks. I enjoyed watching…!!!!!!!
God bless you for loving them..🙏🙏🦜🙏🦜🙏
I just wanted to point out for people to be aware of their shadow as had above and hand above and casting a shadow on the bird might be different for them. :)
This will be helpful for me and my girl Loki. She is very nervous about where I place my hands. I can get them close and she will ever so gently and cautiously take food from them but I was told she was mistreated. But she is really trusting with me and I am so happy about that. So I will be following your method and see how that works. Gentle patience is the key❤❤
It has to be hard to post a video showing a difficult day. It’s important for “wouldbe” bird owners to see how hard it can be. You’re level of commitment to these birds is amazing.
But when lefty says “party!”…
What are you gonna do
I remember from a different video they tend to be more vocal when heightened, and noticed with the uncomfortable hand over him he started using his voice.
I admire the bond though still, because even though he was uncomfortable he obviously still trusts you.
My ringneck is curious, but very cautious about anything new... so takes a lot longer to get him comfortable. He’s a gentle soul compared to my greencheek.
6th!
Thanks for the info at 0:13 I learnt something new :)
Touche is so cute ❤
On the surface: Calm, collected, helping all, trying to train. Beneath: "I love Capri... I love Capri... It's going to be okay, I love my family... I'll just have to wait or I may pop... Can I just get five minutes of alone time with this bird to desensitize??" At least, those are like the moments I have as my kids come "meandering" around during training or me trying to work in general... Love them, just want to stay focused sometimes! It's like the invasion of the bathroom when they were smaller... Potty time was precious when it could be had lol
Touche is sure making an extreme effort to do better than Lefty !
Touche shows us that a little healthy competition can go a long way in motivational training sessions.
I see that curiosity vs. Confidence thing with my sun conure. He is willing to fly just about anywhere but once he gets there it's a different story. He likes to fly to people that are walking around, however he doesn't particularly like all of us in the house..so once he flew to my son, landed and bit immediately. I'm really struggling with my Loki love, but I'm not giving up!
That sounds really hard but I’m so touched to hear you’re not giving up :)
@@Randersonwood thanks Mrs. Robin. I wouldn't dream of giving up on my bird..just a bump in the road is all!
I think one of their main predators were snakes so your hand reminds him instinctively of a snake ready to strike.
He made that first peep and my Sunny jumped out of his skin LMAO
💯 my ringneck is curious, and easily spooked! The opposite of my conure. It’s so rewarding to work get his trust on new things
The 2 parrots together training chaos, welcome to my normal training situation! lol Was nice to see it here, stops me being so hard on myself when my training fails to make much progress because of it :)
I've got 2 hyperactive lorikeets from a bad home, too scared to leave their cage, not bonded, but use each other for security.
Training for me has to be done on the large cage door & pumice perch attached to the door, so that it can be just outside the cage for training, but still give them an easy escape back into the cage as needed, so that I can get them to agree to come out to train.
Each of my sessions is the same as that 2 birds session, both fighting over who gets to train, grabbing the touch stick & treats (I use a syringe of fruit juice, which means they can hold it in their beaks & refuse to release even when no more treat is coming out), so same chaos as in the video every session, except add on top of that, that mine have only very limited spaces to sit/stand for training & scream at each other if the other one takes their space (so imagine if Lefty & Touche refused to be anywhere but on that perch & wouldn't let the other on the perch while they were training), with the most timid/abused one (that is therefore by far the hardest to train) being the dominate one in that.
So we do step up sideways sliding off the perch onto my hand & repeat & repeat & repeat. I've got the other one now actually stepping up properly, but that's as far as we've got. I'm trying to work on "stay" as I move my hand while the bird is on it, & we can do that a little, conditional to my hand returning to the exact same spot, but anything beyond that is really too much for them & we're back in the cage (timid one tends to throw a screaming tantrum at my hand for me daring to move it first)
Anyway, yeh, nice to see my training situation on video :) & I really don't think there's any good work arounds for mine, other than time & building confidence & trust.
Breakthrough though, yesterday my timid one decided to let me touch her head :))))))) & we've just done it again now too! Pretty sure she's got some hormonal stuff going on with that, she was playing with my hand like lorries play with each other & eyes dilating/relaxing dilating, but I'll work on that later, meanwhile I'm just sticking to touching only her head & enjoying that she's FINALLY letting me touch her :))
Hey, I need advice. My two budgies that I got about a week ago recently started eating millet from my hand. I let them eat several times before trying to move onto stepping up. Both of them refused, so I tried to use a small wooden perch and get them to step up, but they were scared of it. I'm not really sure how to get them to do this. Was there a step I missed? Do I just keep trying a few times a day?
My cockatoo LOVES scrambled eggs. She gets her own cockatoo omelet just fer her.
❤️
I have one, my buddy Soda.
He's extremely timid. 90% quiet
Amd might be slightly blind? Lol I manage to have em rest on me but still extremely timid. He won't take anything from my hand .
Hey Jamie! I've been watching almost all of your videos for the past 2 months. I want to learn everything I can from birds before actually thinking of getting one of my own. I have one question tho, how do you identify what is an alarm call or just a recall or any other sounds they make? Is it just the loudness? Or anything else changes?
When I saw your birds trick and I think 🤔 maybe I can do it 🤧🤧🤧but now I realize.... howwww she do that 😨😨😨
Owning a parrot is very less to do with control and more to do with love and affection. So don't wear yourself out if you fail to fully train a parrot. That's never 100% achievable. I think she gets pretty agitated if she doesn't have *control* in general. I personally don't think they were chaotic. It's just her way of expressing when she fails to have 100% control over a situation. As a trainer I thought she'd be more patient. Remember, it's more to do with love and connection than just plain control and training. Birds need to *feel* connected to you before any training takes place. I think they were both very well behaved. This is not how parrots usually behave. As long as you understand parrots aren't meant to be 100% in control as they're mainly wild, you're good.
Actually with indian ringneck , i do have one shes a girl . She will sit somewhere with confidence but will just straight go 'weeeee' if it moves slightly
Hi I am Pooja I have three young ringneck parrots, wanted to consult regarding training. Please let me know how to connect?
I havan indian ring neck parott (female) form December last year and is not confident at all. Is biting, cant pet her.... Is desprate for birds outside, i did not lether out from the cage 'cause she will fly straight to the window and i'm afraid to get injury at head. I dont think if will ever be tamed
Rescued my 2 year old Ringneck and They had him in a small cage. Any advise to get him to trust me, he always flys away from out the cage and avoids me in the cage.
I need help with my indian ringnecks diet could u give any recommendation even any little advise would be greatful for and would be great help
On what fruit and veg should I feed should i feed her and how mucth should it be frozen or cooked ife seen people may some sort off veg chop and freeze it domt wanna give her same stuff as I've heard it's also good to give them differant foods so there dont get bored off same stuff and also how mucth seeds mix to give her I've seen people also say sunflower seeds and nuts are not good are they ok iff not all the time I've changed my ringnecks seed mix to a no nut and sunflower seed mix what is higher quality than the previous pet shop one was gonna feed her the no seed and no nut mix for a few days and was also gonna try tidymix what is low in sunflower and menna be good and rotate between the 2 and maybe even try pellets once a week iff that's ok for my parrot
Its definitely comes down with personality my ringneck is so confident he’s verry cocky and nothing seems to scare him 😂 hes a shit head always up to no good
How does your family react to the Indian ringneck’s
what is your best food treat for taming mine is picky seeds eating only. mine is untamed and im trying lol
Wedlock and the arcade of farmyard and arcade games ❤❤❤❤
So I need help
I know you have taken care of lots of birds so I need advice
We have some trees in our yard and a baby bird fell out of its nest and the parents won't take it back so we are taking care of it and birds are birds so maybe you know what to do
I thought lefty and touche got adopted?
These are year old videos
I adopted Touché 😍. He’s my stinker boy but I love him to death!
The noise he makes sounds like "Yeah, why do you ask?" in my language, so this video just got funnier.
I completely agree they are very curious but are her nervous birds.
Hey guys i really wanted some opinion on this .. so my budgie named kira passed away .. she was already on her medications and vet told she will be fine .. but sadly she is no more .. and i have other budgie called jerry he is a cockatiel in a budgie form .. now the reason is .. he is the mellowest budgie i ever saw .. he likes his own lazy routine ... i have this humongous cage with a lot of toys that are just untouched .. he lost his flight feathers .. and so couldn't fly .. so he is outside the cage all day ... but he is meh about any interactions or any toys ....and he likes his own company... but as times will change iam gonna have to keep him in the cage for more time... iam not gonna get a budgie because they will obviously bully him to death ... i was considering a cockatiel may be ... any suggestions please
I want them to be in the same cage because it can fit atleast 5 budgies still being spacious for them
Well. I must mention this. My little family had a beautiful parakeet named Linden. And I took in a ring neck parakeet. I had a cage for Linden but she was free flight most always. I kept them apart at first but really they really enjoyed each others company at all times! They flew together and acted lovey dove-y always. Linden ever learned how to say “hello” and wolf whistle like our ring neck. This was great for a few years until one day Linden entered Guy’s cage…I believe he became territorial he snapped at her to warn her but he nipped her little leg and broke it. She was in pain and lost some blood. I got her to a vet right away. The vet taped her leg to set it and thought it would heal. She went into shock no eating or drinking and we lost her😢😢 My thought as was the vets was that it was not meant out of maliciousness it was she had entered his space…not that he was a cage kept bird…both were kept free flight most everyday except to eat. It was poor management on my part. I would let them together imho. But just watch their body language to help gage things like that. We would never have imagined that would happen because they loved each other so much.
When can you start teaching your bird tricks?
I am so so happy for you love it Indian ringneck perrot
That was cute to see both birds on the counter. I noticed at times that they were both slipping and sliding.
ringnecks are so beautiful when they fly in the wild
They are wonderful birds ❤
When you eat the egg as being a bird. Is that not bird Cannibalism?
Isn’t feeding birds eggs cannibalism?
Really enjoy your videos.
I was #1k for likes🥰
What type of seeds is he working for?
Probs sunflower, safflower, or even millet. The saf and sunflower seeds are cut in tinny pieces
Def agree with that they are so curious and easy to train HOW do we stop thje alarm call is my question!
Touche is a cool bird, you should keep him! He seems to fit into your clan! :)
Touche’s already gone, these vidoes are from a while ago, and they were first posted on Patreon
Can you do more vids with daughter in it plssssssss
He's adorable! What happened to his poor tail?
You are so amazing with these guys!
You’re me as a mom. That is all. Move closer pls lol
You such a good mom and bird trainer
This bird is already tame?
No they aren't confident My 23 year old I can't touch at all. My 3 year old he's starting g to,very little
They are if you get them from as a small chick
his voice is best thing ever
Touché is so cute!...
His training videos are just as cute because he's trying to go along with you & it's funny to see whenever he goofs up--literally.
Do you plan on breeding him?...
I love his little sounds.
Touché man up dude!!
I blend shell with egg.
One of them was clearly say " READY ".
Everytime you said READY He came right up to you saying READY AS WELL AS OK.
Absolutely
Hi bird tricks can you help me please I have a 4 and a half month old yellow sided gcc and eats everything the wall she tried biting her cage she always bites and her food bowl please help me thank you also she is tamed i can hold her pet her and everything.
I always recommend starting training with my beginner course here: birdtricksstore.com/products/the-basic-parrot-course-stop-biting
@@BirdTricks ok thank you
It genuinely warms my heart to see how far lefty has come 🥲 I have been following your videos, reading, studying up, visiting with birds for the last year and my heart was and still is really set on an Indian ringneck. However I feel like it is possible a Quaker parrot may be more suited to me at this point in my life and my living situation and personality. But I just can’t decide!! Haha.
I have been working with this blue Quaker parrot at a local petshop/aviary that my heart has sorta pointed me in the direction of but I have a breeder I’ve spoken to about getting a ringneck hatchling in the spring. I just can’t decide haha. Maybe I’ll get both 😅
Is this an old video? I thought she had lefty and touché a long time ago. I’m confused. Also, does she sell her natural feed mix? I would like to buy some. I know I can just make some myself, but it would be easier to just buy it.
Yes
I agree, I'm working with an albino right now. She is very curious but she has PTSD of hands because what the pervious owners did.
I think my 16 month old Ringneck is head shy because he was taken from the nest, placed in a plastic tub with other babies and any interaction began with a hand overhead and grabbed. Every. Single. Time.
For the last year, every couple of weeks, as he suggles in my hair, he will invite me to scratch his head and the back of his neck. Our success is based on trust and invitation. But then I'm not on a time limit..
Understand this may be something that you cannot fix in a few weeks and allow yourself that. You've done so much already! Kudos!
Can you suggest me wht should I do when my alexandrine parrots bite me. They are of 3 ½ months nd both of them bite everyone in the house. They are with me since they were of 1month. They don't even stay at one place when i try to train them. They just fly away. Plz suggest
You could clip their wings and then keep them where they can see you most of the time.
Spend time and get to know them
Mostly they bite because of fear
Tempt them with their favourite food
Wallpaper?
I was wondering about that yesterday. Like whether or not the camera and the fact that they can hear and see the lens constantly adjusting to stay in focus was making it difficult to train them. Maybe there’s a way to a-fix a camera to some glasses that isn’t to clunky or uncomfortable for you, so you cold get the shots of their body language cues from your literal perspective, and shorten training time in one go. All I can think of is Google Glass, and I'm not sure those ever really caught on.
I agree-- they always act super confident, but I've found they're usually not. They love to get into stuff, but their usual knee-jerk reaction to new stuff, or quick movements, is usually to lunge first and then explore after it's determined it's not a threat. I think that's part of what the "bluffing" stage is that people talk about.
Touche really is keen for the target stick. What if you cup your hand over the end of the target stick and see if he will touch it..click and praise as you do. It might work.
Ive gotta remember..”no birdtricks videos when i’m trying to leave”. I get sucked in every time and now i’m gonna be late, again!
Where is the cheapest place to buy parrots my family been thinking of adopting one
rescue organisations :) Make sure you know what you're getting yourselves in for though! They have really long lives & are prettywell on par with a pet monkey in terms of intelligence & emotional needs & behavioural issues if you don't devote enough time to them & do enough research into training. Not a pet for the faint hearted! You're bringing a wild animal into your home!
I'm not sure where you live but rescue organizations or even buying from an owner that can no longer take care of the bird that way the bird is already tamed but whatever you do make sure to do alot of research on the breed of bird your interested in that way you know what your in for birds take alot of time they need alot of attention my first bird I got was a Quaker parrot I bought him from a previous owner because she could no longer care for him anymore he was already tame birds can live for 30 years and the bigger birds like cockatoo and other big parrots can alot of times like 50 years or longer if there well takes care of birds are very messy alot of times very curious be sure to do your research before your thinking about getting a pet bird
Please tell me your not gonna feed eggs to a bird
wild birds eat eggs beacuse its healthy
Hey please make some regular shorts with jinxi and others goofing with u
I was wondering if parrolets are a good beginner bird? I was thinking either budgies or parrolets.
Plzz make a videon on body languages of indian ringneck parrots
That's what happens to me with training all the time. We start and someone always needs something or wants to come hang out with us. I've learned to just end it when that happens. Lol
i want an indian ringneck just because they make the cutest sounds lol
From where did you get that beautiful T stand
How are lefty and Touche doing?
Touche can't makeup his mind 😆
Wow why does her daughter always interrupt ?
?
OMG the tippy taps on the counter how cutteee
I love his little squeaky sounds
My granddaughter absolutely LOVES her blankets, chairs, tents and forts. Lol. God bless you! I think there should be more than just one Mother’s Day per year,, don’t you?
There are like 3……..
Will you ever do a lovebird video? I would love that :)
Yes that’s good to move them around
