- The Honda Grom is underpowered so it's no surprise that pulling up faster higher gear wheelies is a challenge. I was recently told about a Honda Grom Mod that I would never expect to be used for stunting, the DHM ECU Reflash, and TB Cam. I put about 4K miles on this TB cam /ECU setup and it rips for what it is. No issues at all. I was also able to confirm 71mph top speed (GPS confirmed) once I went to 14t sprocket still didn’t touch the 10k limiter. I weigh about 230lbs with gear so I’ll take it!
Is that stock exhaust?
Dopeee! Just installed mine today and went out for a ride and feels AMAZINGGG. Cant get it up sit down in 3rd gear tho but very close. Gonna reset the ecu tmrw and see if it does anything! Appreciate your vids and everything 💯🤟

The performance increase with stock exhaust and intake really surprises me because everyone I talked to so far have all basically said "aftermarket exhaust/intake or bust" before an ECU flash, since they move more air. I'm not a big stunter, but I really like the stock exhaust because it's relatively quiet. I want just a bit more speed, so If I can get that top-end increase while leaving everything else stock, that sounds amazing.
I have stock gearing, but it basically sounds like you think the 14/37 totally fixes that. I wonder if that also plays into the increased stock exhaust/intake performance and you wouldn't get that with stock sprockets. idk, thanks for reading my rambling!
You’ll notice 10x more gains from this cam and ecu flash with stock exhaust intake than an just adding an aftermarket exhaust and intake with stock ecu and cam. 1000% sure on that
@@Photogromer My bad, I worded that weird. I meant people say "If you're going to get your ECU re-flashed, you really want aftermarket exhaust and intake." Not "Aftermarket exhaust gives you more gains than a re-flash."
I really want to see the Dyno charts on stock everything vs. stock exhaust/intake and flashed ECU vs. aftermarket exhaust/intake and flashed ECU. But I can't find any...

Ya I don’t think many people run stock exhaust or intake with this setup besides us stunters.
Have you installed the cam shaft/ ecu update with a stock intake and exhaust? What is your experience? Have the same in mind but not sure how much it will do for me. Thanks for an answer.

Looking at getting a grom this winter
I’ve been wanting to do their complete kits for a while now but they’ve been out of stock for a while. I honestly think it’s the best bang for your buck without going all out and dropping g’s
Can't speak for the piston setup for stunting but I've heard good things for normal fast riding. If you're stunting like me, I recommend just the ECU and Cam setup first (if you haven't already). I think you'll find that's more than enough.

I think it’s a good way to go! I definitely need a little bit more punch for my second gear wheelies... 60% springs and a 14th front is already installed 🤘
Get the 37t rear otherwise I can’t speak for slower wheelies with stock gearing. 3 of us running the same setup locally we all had positive results.

Do you have get ECU reset when putting on a new exhaust?
I reset the ECU whenever I make a change, it's simple and doesn't hurt.
What exact style and name jeans are they?

Start ordering some of the long lead time items like getbent subcage sand zz resr sets take 2+ months to get in. If you plan on going that route.

Yes if you're running the same setup stock exhaust with 14/37 it's good for the lot and street. I put the Yoshi on my grom recently and am experiencing low end bogging but now on the streets it pulls up 3rds super easy, so if you plan on running more streets run aftermarket exhaust if you plan on doing slow lot stuff do stock exhaust

Ok so let me get this straight... even with the flash you still reset the ecu with each mod?
If you’re running the same setup as me. Stock exhaust. Stock intake. 14/37 gearing. Reset the ecu when you get it in. If you’re running the exhaust and intake DHM flashes for, you should be good but if you don’t feel immediate power, reset it. It’s literally 20 seconds and allows the ecu to learn based on your specific mods, unless you’re running again what DHM flashes for.
Ok! Awesome! Thanks for the clarification. Im stock gearing still. Going for speed more than the stunt setup. I went with CJR to flash my ecu with the tb cam, yoshi exhaust and Dingerbuilt intake. Not looking for a rocket just that little more pep. Thanks for the response! Keep up the great content!!🤘🤙

Part of me wants to do the mod but I've just hit an indicated 69 (nice) mph top speed so I don't wanna ruin that
If you're not stunting you don't have to worry about gearing at all, a lot of people run this with the stock setup and aren't doing slow technical wheelies so they don't care about any lower end bogging in a wheelie. We're taking a part meant for the track and applying it to a stunt setup which I recommend 14/37 if you're doing slower stuff too. But yeah it's stupid faster, you're only going to gain top speed and get there faster with this setup. You'll smack yourself for not doing it sooner after you feel the difference.
@@Photogromer I commute on the grom more than stunting it so it'll definitely be a lovely upgrade eventually. The 14t was already a worthwhile mod for me. When I get the itch to mod the grom again/ get more into wheelies, this will probably be my next mod.
@photogromer what's your opinion on removing the spring on the rear foot brake. To make it seem like a on and off switch? Did you reinstall yours or leave it off?
I left mine off after being suggested a month or two ago, I tried to go back to running it and hated it. It feels amazing without the spring, leaving it off and taking off my new build too.
How is this ecu mod compared to bazzar? Anyone know?

I hear good things for going fast not sure about stunting or the reliability if you’re commuting and full throttle for long periods of time. Probably more reliable than going bbk

Any improvement in top speed? Id like to expand the usefulness of my Grom and commute with it
Yes, increases rev limiter which will allow for a higher top speed. I don’t know exactly since it’s also based on your sprocket setup and I’ve never really paid too close attention to top speed because my sprockets throw off my Speedo but I’d say you could probably hit close to 80 before red lining. 73mph is stock limiter.

Shutting the bike off when you slide?
Yes turns off the motor if you lay your bike down. Safety feature.

You should be able to substitute the new ECU with PCV+autotune, right?
No idea. The map that DHM puts on is custom and he is reflashing the stock ECU. I believe the PCV only adjusts the top 80% of throttle if I remember correctly, therefor not doing the same as this custom reflashed map on the stock ECU and cam. The 2017 I bought has the PCV and I'm removing it and replacing with the DHM tune and cam.
@@Photogromer Interesting. good to know. I should probably do some more research so that I am actually up to speed on what is happening. My Grom had the devices already in it, and as a new rider, I really don't know a whole lot yet.
Will this work if i already have an air intake pipe and flashed ecu??
You send in your ecu so he’d reflash it. Are you stunting or going fast? Intake and exhaust are what the tube is mapped for. If you’re stunting I’d say if you’re running 14/37 sprocket you should be fine. If you’re running any other gearing you may experience the low end bog
Photogromer i am working on stunting it but I don’t know anything about the intake that is currently on it so im worried i may mess something up
@@Lemmeloopit nah won't mess anything up. Worst case scenario you put a stock air box back on, plenty of people give them away. Biggest kicker is running same sprocket setup I am 14/37 everything else should play much of a factor
