Hello Photogromer, my name is Steve from Sydney, Australia. I really liked this video to give me some scope into how much groms are in the U.S. I have 2 groms 2017 blue & a 2016 yellow I bought my 1st grom from the dealership in Sydney, for $3750 AUD. ( roughly $2700 USD ) that was with tax and with a year of on road cost. Aka registration and insurance. There is definitely a bit of a price difference between our 2 countries. I just found that interesting. I can't wait to see the new 2021 Honda Grom colors. I've been looking around for them since you showed them in a older video of yours. Take care all the best All the way from Sydney Australia SHTOIVEN 😝
I picked up a 2019 for $2800 with 144 miles on it. It’s brand new 😁. The guy was 300# fellow. Took my time and waited and looked etc etc. in the Facebook market it was found. Red SF brand new no scuff nothing. Only thing they done was add the rear fender delete and Olins shock. I was lucky because the ad was there for 7 hours when I hit him up. So I found a super unicorn. Parts ordered so far ...Z&Z 12 O Clock, Rear Sets, axel sliders, shorty levers, KLX110 bars, 14T front, 36T rear and non O-rings gold chain.
Nice mods on the way. My second set of zz rear sets just showed up this week for my new used grom. Waiting on the getbent subcage. Such a good feeling when those parts start showing up on your doorstep!
Photogromer by the way I am going to get a DRZ400SM this year or next year. Probably new, because they are rare here to find in descent shape. That’s if you find one.
If you want to buy new from a dealer the best way is to email all the sales manager the best price you found anybody's paid out the door. I paid $3,550 out the door.. tax title all fees for a 2018 ABS in Inglewood California on 3/01/2019 A good rule of thumb is MSRP for a total out-the-door price including all fees, title..
Thank you dude you’re the best!!!! And I usually don’t comment on videos because I don’t think anyone cares tbh. But this video was extremely helpful in any way possible. Again thanks bud!
I’ve been considering a Grom as a weekend toy to ride places my car isn’t needed. My car would remain my primary vehicle for sure. I just can’t decide on a used SF or a new 2022... the new one is so nice. Just don’t wanna pay nearly 5k OTD.
@@limeninja1136 Dude, I got real lucky with my first one. They are out there, but man you gotta be looking all the time. Best deals I've found pop up in the local FB groups before hitting the marketplace. Keep looking, you'll find one 💪
I'm currently looking on a grom. It's from 2018, has 2 previous owners and around 10 000 miles. It looks good though and the owner feels like a good person. It has a performance exhaust, protaber bar, a wheelie bar and a tailtidy so he has modded it a bit. I on the other hand plan on buying parts like that on my grom. According it him it doesn't have any problems and he wants around 2800 for it. What do you think?
I literally just bought a Grom brand new for 3900 CASH!!! I fell like I KINDA got ripped off but I think it was worth it at the same time seeing as Covid... Edit: I couldn't find anything close enough for me to buy at a price I liked with the miles I wanted. I would never buy a motorcycle over 2000 miles just because how the market is, if you get me. Also, I don't even know how to ride yet! Like many have told you, you are one of the first Grommers I've watched and I appreciate all the videos! Edit: how tall are you and how much you weigh?
Just don’t sell it and you’ll get your money out of it. Like I showed I paid similar to that out the door when I bought brand new with the $200 less msrp but yah used is the way to go if you can get it to work for you. I’m 6ft 195lbs
That's what they go for from dealer. While you paid more than others who bought used you also have peace of mind that it is yours and its perfect from the start. You also saved yourself a lot of time looking and driving out.
Yup no shame in buying new if you don’t want to work for the best deal and have the time to wait for it to come up. It’s easier to do this for a second grom than the first when you just wanna get into it ASAP
@@jaybosher6144 Exactly. I already dumped it twice and two smaller tips. Had to replace the headlight housing, front fender and the right cowl of the headlight. We plan to keep both a long time ^^ they are great fun to ride! Cheers & safe travels & Godspeed
I feel I got a unicorn 🦄 for my first bike(aka my grom) just last month. I was kinda looking for around 6 months. A 2019 with 1756 miles, pro taper minis, after market exhaust, and I also got the stock exhaust, and knobbies. I found it within 45 minutes of it being posted.
Nice how much did you pay? I was passively looking for a second grom for the past 6 months when my unicorn 🦄 popped up. As you can see from someone’s previous comment they were trying to buy that same grom but I got there first 😂👌
I have no mechanical know-how and purely want a grom because it looks like a fun little bike to get me from a-b, it's very intimidating hearing you talk about what to look for when buying it because I know the basic concept but it'll take me a bit to learn my way around it.
being a “mechanic” and constantly working on my car and my moms car for her, one of the things i’m most excited about getting a bike is the easy of working on it, a single cylinder motor is gonna be a lot easier to work on then a big ass v6 or even v8, this is completely not the topic of the video but it was mentioned enough that i just had to say it
Have a chinese grom clone they are great and tons of fun also. have rode with the real groms not as much different as you would think They are under 1500 brand new.
Good information I am a new subscriber. My wife and I are in our 60s and have retired from our jobs and I want to buy myself a gently used Grom and for my wife a new Navi to get around on when we visit different RV parks. Before seeing this video I was thinking I would have to spend over 3 thousand for a decent used bike but now I’m thinking more like 2,500 will get it done… Thanks
Thank you. I have been saving up to buy a bike to learn on before buying a real bike this is the perfect video. Only thing is in my area is used Grom is only around $200 less than new and not good condition so not really worth used
I live in Orlando and been checking FB Marketplace for MONTHS.. none of the people selling their groms are pricing like this.. all are 2,700-3,500.. Contacted two dealerships and one wanted $5.6K out the door, and the other wanted 4.7K... pricing it too crazy.. i wish honda would just ship me it to me and skip all those fees
My grom idles completely fine however as you mentioned it ticks and sort of has a rattle sound when you rev the engine like at 14:40 what could be the issue to get it fixed ?
Yeah I found a rainbow unicorn [50 miles 2018 SF white, with protaper handle bars and upgraded exhaust. $3,000 cash] put better tires and 1500 miles later.
@@mmaboxingko4298 yeah, high demand and low supply right now. The dealership I work at right now has a 5 page list of people waiting for CRF50s and CRF110s, any bike that comes in gets pulled out of the crate, set up and delivered to whoever is next on the list. Most dealers around have maybe a couple used bikes, and mostly bigger cruisers or things like ZX14s. Bikes under $5k are on craigslist/facebook because why take the trade in hit when you can sell it yourself and get more.
Just got mine last week. He had a green 19 with 1700k and only a pipe, as well as a black 14 with 1900k but 180cc, intake, exhaust, cooler, bar mirrors, levers, etc etc. $2,500 my choice. Of course took the 19.

Amazing vid definitely want to buy one now. Been looking but seeing this makes me more confident on what to look for and knowing you put videos out on maintenance and such puts the nail in the coffin.
Thanks for this video I am getting into street riding, I ride dirt bikes all the time in duck creek and I want to get my M class and there expensive for some of the ones down here I want to spend 2,700 and there is some decent ones out here but they are all beaten up. And I am only 17 working my but off for a street bike and it’s annoying because they think there mods are super expensive for example I am not going to price my whole yz 250 fmf set up the price I paid
I’ve wanted one since I learned about the bike in 2018 but I’m one of those people that are crazy about something for weeks then go months without thinking much about it. But I really want one this 2021(hopefully a 2020 model for a fair price) and I’m painting that b purple!! Fuel economy mods too!!
Been looking at Groms for the last two weeks and saw this video like holy cow those are all the ones I've been looking at in Tampa area. Got lucky and found a 2015 Unicorn with 2100 miles for $1800. Was only listed for 2 hours.
Certainly the KTM 390 would be more fun to ride than virtually any 125cc motorcycle. But there are still plenty of reasons to buy a new Grom. 137 MPG is unmatchable. This bike has a miniature frame, that makes it lightweight & maneuverable. With a controlable amount of power, they are extremely easy to ride wheelies on and for doing other stunts on, too ! The Grom is a very uniquely styled motorcycle with a fairly high resale value. But don't sell your Grom,... Put a 300cc CBR motor on it !
What if you want to buy a grom as your first bike to learn how to ride how would you do the riding portion to know it’s not slipping or something wrong with it?
Bring someone with you that knows how to ride. No way around that without riding it. You could have the seller ride it around and have them do what I suggested in the video to see if it slips I suppose. Maybe you can ride on the back 😂 Id pay more attention to the frame, title, and motor quietness if that’s not an option. If those all look mint chances are the clutch is fine but I’d have the seller ride around to show it grabs. Good luck 👌
Do you think a 2019 grom abs with 500 mild, exhaust for listed price of 3,300 I should ask 2,500.00 or should I give him more, and should I get a ABS one?
Depends on your market but I wouldn’t pay that much. What exhaust? How much is it new? Abs is a joke on a grom so I wouldn’t pay extra for it although msrp is higher for it so the seller might have more money into it because he bought a abs grom (his problem). Unless you’re brand new to riding and panic brake is a real possibility, the abs isn’t worth it on a glorified scooter. As I said in the video I wouldn’t pay more than 2500$ for a grom but I also have one already so if it’s my first grom maybe if you want it bad you’re willing to over pay instead of waiting to save a couple hundred bucks. I’d say under $2800 you’re over paying but could sleep at night. Again supply demand for your area.

I don't know how to ride a motorcycle, but really wanna get one. Craigslist they got em for like 4k
Killer tips, I have my market place notifications on and got updated about a 2020 grom near me! Has 300 miles and a clean title in hand and payed 2500! It took 2 months but like you said it all worked out!
How do I put on marketplace notifications? That's an awesome feature I didn't know about!
A large piece of cardboard can help shield loud exhaust sound when listening for engine noise, listen to the engine from both sides. Great tips Eric! Congrats on the purchase! 👍🏍
Glenn R thanks Glenn, good tip 💪
You can close off the exhaust with tour show. Always around. Feet can stay in, that is faster
I’ve been in the market for a grom but considered buying a normal motorcycle. However, being first time rider I wanted to get some practice so a grom was a great idea. only thing is I can’t imagine what the size is compared to my height I’m 5’9” and wasn’t sure if it would look stupid with me on one. I only need it to get to things around town when I’m how for my 34hr resets with work. I mistakenly found this video and it has made me more confident in picking one up. Thanks for making this video
I'm 6 foot flat and it is almost perfect for me honestly I love the little thing.
@@d3athquid0x87 this is good to know I’m only 5’10” so shouldn’t be a issue lol thanks man
@@work2livelifestyle767 anytime. I'm also have been between 170 on it to 210 and honestly there's not much of a speed difference honestly. It's fun man think of it like a 125cc dirtbike but motorcycle and u will enjoy it just take care of it. I'd say anyone up to about 300 lbs can enjoy this wonderful toy
I'm saying weight BTW
I'm 6"2 should it be okay? Which 1 is the best ? 2023 ?
bought a full stock 2020 with 0 miles from a private seller for $2800 today. happy with my purchase
love the video. It's literally cheaper to buy new then used up here where I am in NY. my whole marketplace is 17,18,2019 groms with like 5k miles for 3300. Its insane.
Yeah market is a little bonkers right now. Lot of stimulus and tax checks burning holes in pockets
@@Photogromer crazy to see you respond to this old of a video. I’ve really been debating a grom. I’ve committed to university of Tampa and I’ve been riding dirt bikes since I was 10. I just don’t know if a grom will be enough for me or not. I just figure it would be because of of how popular they are around the Tampa area. They are just so much cheaper/ newer then any supermoto I would get near that price range! Love to see you still respond to these old videos though! Good shit
@@nickchristofora3417 if you live near campus you'd love a grom. Wally (if you watch Coast2Coast videos, you'll know who he is), went to USF and lived off-campus, took the Grom to school every day, and hit rides at night. Supermotos are fun but the Grom scene is so large in Tampa I think you'd have more fun on that for day-to-day commuting and riding with the group. Cheers
@4:50 thats my grom also failed to comment that i have extra parts to go with it like all new curtis subcage and stunt cage that never been installed 3exhaust to go with it all the stock parts
Let us know what it sells for. I’d bring it back to stock and sell the part esp now that stunt parts have a long delay due to backlogs of orders.
@@Photogromer will do im in no rush to sell it ride it all the time lowest i will do is 2800 that with 12bar exhaust and sprokets only i will take everything off but i have bunch of new parts to go with it plus another hand brake set up alot of it isnt posted but for every 3300 or the way the bike sits 3k
$3350 sold theres your update
Hello Photogromer, my name is Steve from Sydney, Australia. I really liked this video to give me some scope into how much groms are in the U.S.
I have 2 groms 2017 blue & a 2016 yellow
I bought my 1st grom from the dealership in Sydney, for $3750 AUD.
Take care all the best
All the way from Sydney Australia
SHTOIVEN 😝
Thanks for the insight!
Thanks, I was worried about buying used but now I'm feeling a bit more confident about it.
Nice they are just big groms. 💪
So you saying whatever the msrp is it what you ask out the door for everything?
Awesome great video bro. I been making 12 bar for my friends here in Hawaii , looped out last week and will say my 12 bar saved my bike !!!!!
Thank you so much for making this video. I’m about to buy a grom for college and this has answered all my questions
Thank you dude you’re the best!!!! And I usually don’t comment on videos because I don’t think anyone cares tbh. But this video was extremely helpful in any way possible. Again thanks bud!
Thank you for this guide. I reallllllyy want a Grom now
I’ve been considering a Grom as a weekend toy to ride places my car isn’t needed. My car would remain my primary vehicle for sure. I just can’t decide on a used SF or a new 2022... the new one is so nice. Just don’t wanna pay nearly 5k OTD.
Could always finance?

When it comes to Grom market, don't buy from Ohio, we kinda are rough on them, we hit everything, deer, trees, people, scooters.....mailboxes......
Oh Hell, so true. We fuchin' RIDE our Groms!
I heard Cleveland people are extra special.
I'm from Mid Ohio River Valley in WV. I'd see Ohioans cross the river and they couldn't drive.
@@GromBeardo I live in Ohio and can barely find any groms to buy that are half worth it...
@@limeninja1136 Dude, I got real lucky with my first one. They are out there, but man you gotta be looking all the time. Best deals I've found pop up in the local FB groups before hitting the marketplace. Keep looking, you'll find one 💪
I hate how people think all the mods add value. It doesn’t. A stock one to me is what I want.
time to re visit this video, prices now are 3k - 5k in 2022
I'm currently looking on a grom. What do you think?
amazing vid bro. im too young to buy a grom but when i can you bet ill but one!! specially after seeing this video. great video man!
dont buy a grom buy a yamaha r3 if you're a beginner
@@Photogromer Thanks again bruh, appreciate it.
I already swapped to some protaper XR50, TST turn signals in front and back. I also got a AMR decal set and and a T Rex racing engine cage and skid plate to put on. Now all I need is cam, exhaust, intake and a ecu flash lol;) Gott gain some speed after the weight I'm about to add.
I forgot to mention for the last two weeks my knee has been healing and the first time I worked on my bike it was to change a bent rear brake pedal looool.
Thanks so much ... I never owned a grom. Always wanted one ☝️.. always had 600 and 1000 bikes . But I want a fun bike ... now I’m more confident and more informed on models difference
I just got an og grom- just dirty, 3400 miles, for 1800! It was in a guys side yard. Put low sale price so I was under 2k registered. I’m putting knobby tires and wrapping it. Super stoked
Ty for taking the time to make this video. I'm buying one this coming tax return. Can't wait to trick it out now that I know the clutch is cheap af...Mahalo
in California its better to buy a new Grom over a used one. used ones are stupid expensive here. New isn't always the wrong way to go... you also get a piece of mind knowing the history of the bike
I almost bought a Grom the second year they came out!
I ended up getting a 2015 cmx250 Honda Rebel in rubidium red with only 457 miles / pristine condition and factory paint codes still onit ! $2,995. Could not pass it uP, I dig the Grom and maybe I'll get one now that the prices are leveling off and sweet deals can be found, just like my new Rebel!🤩
I got a 2000 rebel with 12k for 1300 2 years and 18k ago. The clutch just started slipping but riding it every week and changing the oil has kept it very reliable
@@relate97 Lol, you paid more money to get a smaller bike that's real fun but also real slow which makes you really funny.😃
Everyone has a unique experience. I got a grom new, immediately upgraded it, & change the oil & filter overly often // its my commuter bike // I am that asshole going 55 on the freeway in the right lane // lol // 19 Grom SF / PCV-WB2 + CAI + Kitaco Clutch Cover & 3 row oil cooler // no stunting, though I have pegged it to 71 mph going downhill with a tailwind ducked // I really like 3rd gear all around & obviously 4th at freeway / highway speeds // I really like the small light feel of the bike / much more comfortable than our previous GSX-R600 & Honda CBR600F4 before that / we also have a 13 PCX purchased new.
As you can see from someone’s previous comment they were trying to buy that same grom but I got there first 😂👌
@@Photogromer oh whoops 2300 I live in New England and they are hard to come by up here.

1:55... "you just need to be patient"... I just scored a 2015 with only 311 miles on it!!!
I have no mechanical know-how and purely want a grom because it looks like a fun little bike to get me from a-b, it's very intimidating hearing you talk about what to look for when buying it because I know the basic concept but it'll take me a bit to learn my way around it.
being a “mechanic” and constantly working on my car and my moms car for her, one of the things i’m most excited about getting a bike is the easy of working on it, a single cylinder motor is gonna be a lot easier to work on then a big ass v6 or even v8, this is completely not the topic of the video but it was mentioned enough that i just had to say it
This video helps me buy ones that have problem in the muffler and the motor thank you
I’m lucky my local Honda dealer has no dealer fees, just the normal tax title tag
Where???
Where is this?
Have a chinese grom clone they are great and tons of fun also. have rode with the real groms not as much different as you would think They are under 1500 brand new.
Good video for buying a used Grom..but for me I rather go brand new cause it won't break the bank and new is always better than used..😃
Not planning on buying a grom, but glad i got recommended this video.
It seems like here in Arizona people won't let their Groms go for anything less than $3k high miles and all.
Good information I am a new subscriber. My wife and I are in our 60s and have retired from our jobs and I want to buy myself a gently used Grom and for my wife a new Navi to get around on when we visit different RV parks.
My groms a 15' and is showcase condition, runs great. Its mint with 8,500 miles
Great video. I'm looking at them now on Facebook Market and can't find a single one listed under $3k. Absolutely crazy.
Inflation is real but its coming back down
Every used grom in my area is listed at or more that a new 2022 model.
My grom idles completely fine however as you mentioned it ticks and sort of has a rattle sound when you rev the engine like at 14:40 what could be the issue to get it fixed ?

Don't forget to check dealers. I've seen 2019 and 2020 groms at dealers for $2800 out the door, tag title and license included.
What state?
@@mmaboxingko4298 Washington, and Oklahoma. Probably won't be any deals for a while since everything is sold before getting to the dealers right now.
Random builds I just picked up a 2019 with 500 miles for $3,000 in Los Angeles....and that was one of the better deals I found
@@mmaboxingko4298 yeah, high demand and low supply right now. Bikes under $5k are on craigslist/facebook because why take the trade in hit when you can sell it yourself and get more.
i paid 1600 for my 2017 grom and its mint it had 10700miles when i got it and its on 22000 ish miles now it looks practically brand new
Just got mine last week. He had a green 19 with 1700k and only a pipe, as well as a black 14 with 1900k but 180cc, intake, exhaust, cooler, bar mirrors, levers, etc etc. $2,500 my choice. Of course took the 19.
I personally stay away from BBK when buying used. Seen too many blow up, need a bunch of supporting mods that a lot of people cheap out on.

Was thinking to go the dealership route but naaaahhh thanks for the info I subbed
Been looking at Groms for the last two weeks and saw this video like holy cow those are all the ones I've been looking at in Tampa area. Got lucky and found a 2015 Unicorn with 2100 miles for $1800. Was only listed for 2 hours.
Love your channel bro, just subbed! Helps a lot
Highly recommend anyone to also check out the KTM 390 Duke as an alternative for just a little more...
I've just got a grom. Next bike will be the 390. Just needed to scratch that itch first.
This is an awesome video! Cant wait to get one
Good luck 👌
Great video, I definitely feel more confident in buying a used one now thank you
Do you think a 2019 grom abs with 500 mild, exhaust for listed price of 3,300 I should ask 2,500.00 or should I give him more, and should I get a ABS one?
Do that oil pump mod, that’ll be a bulletproof engine like any other Honda....
You’re a king for this video, hoping to get my first bike soon 😊
