You're right. My idea with EVIL Invocator was designing a card that with the next two expansions you have more Lackey generators (I'm expecting a new Class Lackey generator for each EVIL Class + Neutral ones) to create a solid base for running even 2 copies of the Invocator.
Hey, also, your card doesn't have crazy combo potential. It just seems like a way to get rid of lackeys and make bigger bodies, added to another reasonably large body. I think it's actually a lot better than Darkest Hour, balance-wise. And, I don't think Trump really considered how the actual effect of the two are *very* different.

Trump, I think you miss the point of the highest roller, it's intentionally weak as the creator said, it's just meant to be a non competitive fun card people can play in decks like casino mage.
@TjosTDings I consider 25 dust to be as close to nothing as to merit the term gambling. Besides if your goal is a specific card you will keep buying packs. It's not unheard of to spend hundreds of dollars on this game
@Jack Reaver It's kind of like if casinos gave you tokens that could be used every once in a while to buy the exact poker hand you wanted. It makes it a very different game, then.
The Dr. Boom card really bothers me, just because "boom" and "builder" are lowercase. Yeah, there's the actual mechanics, but that bothers me the most.
12:00 what if you have this minion, fandral and the new 2/3 legendary (forgot the name) on the board and you cast a choose one card. Can't figure what will happen
2:00 will there be more lackeys the next expansions? Thought it was just a one expansion think just like echo en adapt.... Thinking about it now that will be the case with twinspell
I believe you missed the point on the gamble guy, its not only the top row that gets activated, its all three. So you would get 2 of the three activated, meaning you could discard 2 cards and draw one, discover 2 cards discard one etc (of the specified type of course). so it would be pretty cool, but it does indeed lack some flashiness
The shadow agent card is actually great, the effect and battlecry are useful both times you play the card, especially if the shadowform upgrades like it would if casting the card!
With the shifting mercenary, why not make it say “at the end of your turn, if this is in your hand, transform into a random lackey” because then you can’t play it on turn 1 but you still keep the overall flavour of the card
My problem for the design of Shifting Mercenary is that your opponent has no knowledge if you have a Lackey. So far the only way to get a Lackey has been to play a card which clearly says "Add a Lackey to your hand". It's impossible for your opponent to play around it unlike with all other Lackey generation cards.
Playing around 1 mana "card" is not that important tbh, the effect is so minor that enemy can always have something similar to dealing 1 damage or so that a lackey would provide.
That last one reminds me of the 3 mana 4/3 that lets you play a free secret. That one is strong, but doesn't seem too bad and this one also gives your opponent the information of what secret it is. I feel like that sounds more fair, but idk?
6:27 I would have docked points for design, since minions that cast a specific spell should describe what the spell is in parenthesis like Lady in White
@10:31 I assume Scrap Crab isn't a Mech to prevent it from countering itself, especially with the 99 random mechs most mech decks can get. It can't really counter Mechs if Mechs can easily steal it back.
I was looking to see if someone had picked up on this. The art definitely looks like a Mech, but if it was a real card it would be better to make it a Beast and conceptualize it as a giant crab that's collected mech parts to wear as a shell. As you say, if it's got the Mech tag, then the players are frequently going to get into crab fights where they just steal each others' giant mech over and over. That sounds funny the first couple times you see it, but it would get old pretty fast.
The High Roller Goblin. I could see it better implemented as a face down discover mechanic where you choose one and get that first effect, and then do it again for the 2nd. Kinda like the old make your spell selection. Also with that stat line, I would almost say get RID of the discard option and go with something else. I would never seriously pay 5 for a 2/3 that could make me discard 2 cards..... maybe in certain 'Lock decks maybe? I know that gamble includes risk of failure, but the card isn't a risk of failure atm. There's no gamble there.
But does counterspell counter brandlemars battle cry if it’s already in play for the opponent? I know it’s a minion casting it but it’s still a spell being cast by the opponent technically
I actually find the idea of Dr. Boom, Master Builder a little bit interesting in that it reminds me of the theme of Whispers of the Old Gods where some evil characters become their good counterparts, like Ragnaros, the Lightlord.
Correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe all they said was that they'd be adding more lackeys to the pool. Shifting mercenary wouldn't transform if you keep it in your opener so it would only ever be a 1/1 for 1 mana on turn 1. I assume same mechanics as spellshifter and it stays the 1/4 on your first turn.
Am I the only one who thinks Hamuul would be crazy just with power of the wild in a token Druid? 2 mana give all minions +2/+2 kinda. You could argue it’s 7 mama give all minions +2/+2 with a 3/5 body with it but that still sounds kinda crazy too me.
That's not too far off of Cenarius; it's 2 mana cheaper but takes two cards from your hand instead of just one. Archmage Vargoth with Blessing of the Ancients already does something close to that for 7 mana with a 2/6 body, and it even gives you two extra Twinspelled copies where Hamuul wouldn't give you any.
The evil invocator should be a 8 mana 6/6 with taunt and battlecry... add 2 random lackeys to your hand... and deathrattle.. destroy all lackeys.. Summon than many random demons.

each turn this is in your hand effects are end of turn, so no you can't have the summon a 2 cost on your first turn
The Emerald pixie is from ysera's realm and so if you used magic to heal you would attract a pixie, and if it was alot of magic then the pixie would summon ysera to cleanse it.
Where do I find the end video song? I want that so bad lol
Not all EVIL cards added lackeys to your hand, EVIL recruiter destroyed a lackey to summon a 5/5 demon which is very similar to the EVIL Invocator
Scrap crab Is a 6 mana mindcontrol that's a bit powerful when a lot of the top teir decks runs mechs
Don’t run mechs...(taps forehead) This Card could never be overpowered...
I think it would be pretty cool if Trump reviewed basic cards
Drinking game:
Take a shot every time he says "lackey."
Sad foe reaper moment 4:48
Shifting mercenary wouldn't transform if you keep it in your opener so it would only ever be a 1/1 for 1 mana on turn 1. I assume same mechanics as spellshifter and it stays the 1/4 on your first turn.
It's more akin to compare it to shifting scroll and shifter zerus, who do change into something on your opening turn
the "listen to trump nitpick at minor details" show
There's an entire reddit page that does that already.
It's called "custom hearthstone"
Who else is watching this during Uldum?
The druud card with 12 health seems way to overpowered right now
14:00 He said the wrong mana cost and they fixed it in editing, you can hear that the "seven" is edited
Wow, such attention and sagacity!
Em
How will Hamuul work with cards like wardruid loti
The evil invocator should be a 8 mana 6/6 with taunt and battlecry... add 2 random lackeys to your hand... and deathrattle.. destroy all lackeys.. Summon than many random demons.
Shifting Mercenary would also have a design problem because "good" classes should not be able to gain Lackeys.
May I ask what the backround music is, it's really catchy
the world of warcraft tavern theme
Brambleback could also be a good backup to go w/ secret eating effects
Funny how he loves the new yogg card... guess he had a change of heart.
Yogg was nerfed not Hall of Famed.
8:15 "Incorporating gambling into the game may change the rating"
Lol, in a game where you pay for overpriced card packs with completely random results inside?
i mean mob boss noggenforger is too op i mean you can use shaman or mage to summon 2 other 9 cost or make it into 10 mana minion
Hey trump you should make a seperate rating for some of us who play mostly wild
as far as shifting mercenary goes, blizzard gave priest the ability to play the one cost lackey that summons a random two cost on turn 1
-1 off the design of pixie because there are no pixies in the warcraft universe
There is a neutral pixie noob
there are in the Emerald Dream
Finally One of the Custom Card Guys got that hamuul is a druid Not a shaman. 6* Design.

"...bundled together should cost 7"
no, bundled together it should cost 5
blizzard has made various cases where everytime they bundle cards together they LOWER the mana cost
logically it should be 7 but if blizz designed it, then it would be 5
of course i'm not talking about the symmetric effect, blizz would most likely make it 4 mana if the effect was the same as shown in the vid
The fact that blizzard did something doesnt mean that jt was smart. After all ultimate infestation was fair and ballanced and draconid operative didint force you to run dragon package in evey form of priest
@@panwp123 I haven't said that it was smart, i've actually said the goddamn opposite,
But it's blizzard's game and whatever they say is the holy grail
Yes the most explosive thing of all the amazon delivery drone and giant war mech. Like yeah his name is dr boom but he does do other things
spending armor consept do have a potential actually
EVIL Invocator rework:
Battlecry: Destroy your lackeys. For each one, discover a Lackey.
we are always almost cought up
This was the most interesting custom card video ive seen, awesome!
If scrap crab were a mech then mech decks would run it to counter the counter to them
Dr.Boom, Meta Killer
Battlecry: Turn all mechs into bombs (wherever they are)
Foe reaper is also a legendary mech.
