About IDICBeer 40k - NECRONS and More
My Channel is all about Warhammer 40,000 and is mainly a Necron Channel. The content on it will include 40k Battle Reports, Army Lists, Conversions, Magnetising tutorials, Painting tutorials, 40k Tactics and lots of General Hobby Tips. I have been into the hobby since 2002 and my first and largest army is Necrons and I cover all things Necrons, including Necron tactics and Tips. I also have an Eldar army, Dark Eldar army, a Tyranid army and a Space Wolves army. I'm also working on a new Slaanesh based Emperor's Children army, but that is on hold atm, but I will get to it one day! I upload videos every week.

I bought them specifically for the stratagems was a little disappointed that they were not in the box. The best part about them is if an opponent has a quick question about a unit.
Yeah it's a shame they are not included
same , without strats they are a waste of money

Thanks Nick. Really glad to have a bigger channel actually talk about the cards. Usually have to rely on much smaller channels with less experience and poorer video quality. Most big channels just throw them aside saying, "...and the cards"

you can remove the back cardboard made for it to be able to hang, then it is much easier to open and close :)

I just came back from my first game in 2024, Necrons vs Sisters of Battle Canoptek Court. I won 70:34 and those cards are super handy! I like stacking them up sidely for a whole unit. So the Plasmancer card is with the Immortals and so on. Makes it a bit easier to navigate though the units. And everything that speeds my slow ass up is a welcome change to me.

I like your idea of having the datasheet cards for stratagems and detachments on the codex, if they dont want to have them on the cards sold separately... well,... TO THE PRINTER IT IS! lol, and you can just update them by yourself before/after printing.

So I never bought datacards in 9th, being in the hobby for 3 years now. I usually just had the codex and some solid photos Iv taken of the the datasheets, rules, etc. for convience. I have to say though, since the special edition version of the new codex also has the green trimming around the pages, I have to get the matching set haha. Im going either find a binder of sleeves to insert them or hole punch the cards and get a small binder for them. Would be a lot easier to carry around and flip through. I figured the dual models would have a dual card, just makes sense really but looks like only 1 kit got that. I thought they would also do that for the combat patrol system as well but I guess not

I much prefer the old slip case box though. Not a fan of the new box. But I guess that is a bit nit picky.
Love the foil edges. That makes them look really cool. Also like that most of the cards are single sided.

I can assure you that they are legible, I've been editing Legends and Imperial Armour to that size for weeks. I can't wait to find out what color green is on the Orks ones. The sticking is from the foil. On a soft book like a Bible the text block gets gently manipulated to break the tensile bonds of the metal leaf, but on hard cards not so easy.
Also as a personal favor could you take a picture of a couple of the different unit cards with just fronts and one of the double sided ones and send them to me as a pm? It would greatly help with the project that I am currently working on. If not I will totally understand.

They are 4.5x6.5"
I'm still torn on the data cards, I bought them with the necron codex to try and see if I like them. I'm not sure if I prefer them or the app at the moment.
I'm not a fan off fiddling on my phone when playing so they are good for me ha ha

It's a hard one as the prices are all over the place. Just work out the price you'd be happy to sell it for and stick it on eBay and see what happens

I hate not having cards with the stratagems for each detachment. I find that the thing I miss most with the new cards.

Same. Might be the difference maker for me. Nick, have the strategies changed from the index a lot? Could/would you be able to supplement them?
@@Dadsidehobbies They are quite different and you have each detachments stratagems too. I have just photocopied mine, hopefully that will make things easier
Thanks. Might have to revise my automatic policy of "skip the codex, buy the cards" might just not buy any rules until GW actually makes a sensible way to have the rules with updates.
It would be cool if they did 5 more cards with each if the detachment rules and enhancement on one side and the stratagem on the other
Too bad it doesn't come with sleeves to protect it from damage, otherwise solid card
My Index cards have survived well without them
Ultimately, given how fluid the game is lately, I don't think physical cards are worth it. The game changes and invalidates cards too quickly to justify the price IMO.

YES the book and card shud last match up so you ues the cards in sed of the book but stel need the huge tome of a ruel book and glasses to to help you read em just not fare but will see what new stuff like got get some some day just got thew one thig and get to 4th world comics and get all new books cards and rule book we need got get some war game alaic bugs and guard have a think what what do and see how do agest the devil dice when do richrd orks

As we play fifth edition we don't need them.
If I had to go back, I would play 4th, I loved those missions at the back of the book
I liked the idea of this sort of thing like 10 years ago. Now, I don't like it. I would rather have 100 percent digital codex's that auto update. If only GW's app was better executed. These sort of things out of date almost day one now, so they are a waste or money.

@@IDICBeer True, that's why I have a tablet. Bigger screen so easier to read, longer battery life, and as a bonus, I can read whatever book I'm currently reading (or re-reading as I am now) if my opponent is being slow.
if this has strategems this is autobuy , after the updates and errata his is irrelevant

True, but these are very easy to access the rules, and I hate having to be on a phone for rules when playing
Pointless, when they keep adjusting to balance the game (even though that should’ve been done before release) you’ll just end up with a typexed mess
A little post it does the job, I still find them very useful
