trazyn really needs some buffs, particularly to his damage and abilities. Give the empathic oblitetor blast and/or devastating wounds with one or two pips of ap and it's perfect. Swap out his Ancient Collector rule for the rule Tesseract Labrynth, which would allow you to designate one infantry unit in strategic reserves at the start of battle to be tied to trazyn. This unit can now deepstrike onto the board so long as they do so within 3" of trazyn (maybe allowing trazyn to choose between staying in his current unit or swapping over to the new one). This would actually give his body swapping Surrogate Hosts ability more use as trazyn can swap across the board and deploy a unit where it is needed most.
Crytpothralls may not have their FNP natively anymore but they still grant it to the cryptek flavor they are with and give some extra wounds to their unit to increase their survivability. I’m gonna be giving them to every cryptek i can, especially my two technomancers because they will regain a FNP with them leading the unit.
Except that the only case in which the cryptek is going to use that FNP is if there is enemy precision shooting, because you take bodyguard models first by the time the cryptek is rolling saves the cryptothralls are dead
4 Cryptothralls is either a full 10 man squad of immortals or deathmarks. Or two additional crypteks of choice. You will get far more mileage and impact out of any of those options.
@@klonoa7560 yes; but one squad is 60% more wounds to a full immortal squad for cheaper than 5 more immortals. So it can keep an important squad or two threatening for that much longer. Gunna try it but we'll see how it goes.
Yup, extremely easy. :) Collecting dust on a shelf because he just can't offset the threat of a Plasmancer or the utility of the Chronomancer. No one is gonna bring Immortals to be a scrappy tanky unit. I feel Orikan is a Tier 2 datasheet without a unit to pair with that makes sense.
I was purchasing my very first Warhammer models a few days ago. I purchased the codex and Imotekh not knowing they are new and preorders so i had to wait for my order to arrive. Sadly, i didnt got my paket yesterday as announced so hopefully tomorrow. I was kinda dissapointed that i dont got my hands on the Lychguards since im absolutly love the look of them, but then the internet got me nervous that they are nerfed to death so i was kinda glad i didnt bought one of them as my very first models. But now with the points change it seems they are not as bad as thought and now im back to beeing mad i didnt have one :( even tho im maybe not playing that much. Since im very new to the hobby, i just bought some models i think looked cool, and im glad the immortals, wraiths and the technomancer are among the stronger Models, even tho im sure i wont play much since i dont have much ppl in my area to play with. im exided and looking forward to paint my very first models :)
Lychguard are still badass in the looks department so don't let the nerfs stop you. Plus they can still hit like a truck, it's just that now you've gotta treat them as more expendable than they were before since they don't have all the durability tricks crypteks could provide anymore.
@@nightwatchm4n what stops me from buying them is warhammer "online not aviable" and my "neares" (over an hour drive away) Warhammer storealso dont had them
Seriously dude, I’d say don’t care what people say. Keep up just buying and painting what looks awesome and cool to you. The meta always changes and there’s really no point chasing the meta. And besides, you’re probably not trying to be competitive in this hobby, so don’t listen to people saying “this unit is good” or “this unit is bad”. Every data sheet in this codex is usable in casual games, which is what 99% of us here will be playing. Just enjoy the hobby and don’t be so hung up on competitiveness👍🏻
I'm actually wondering if Deceiver isn't even MORE meta in Hypercrypt, since he lets you put even more of your army in SR, and combining that with Tomb Blade move-blocking gives you insurance for having actual space to put those models down.
@@clementcate4730 true, also I checked and giving canoptek is actually very useful because it allows the unit to use the “gives lone operative for a turn” stratagem.
@@cormoranoimperatore8413 Scratch that, Cryptos are NOT Canopteks, i just checked :| They are pretty much back to being action monkeys. Just... bad design here.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but going over the Point Value list, these differ from your video. For example Doomsday Ark is showing 185 points, not 200 in this video.
I mostly agree with everything, though, imo Lychguard aren't a tier 2. Imo they are at least Tier 3, if not Tier 4. They are cheap(ish) but you get a 5" move melee unit that isn't "that" tanky which also can't fight its way out of a paper bag. I'd also probably move Tomb Blades to Tier 1. In the hands of the right player, they are nutty powerful.
No, they are 0 M without deepstrike. If I remember the rules correctly they can’t exceed their movement characteristics for moving onto the board as they would have to walk on instead of being dropped in. Meaning they are unplayable outside of your initial deployment without using the 3” stratagem to drop one onto the board.
@Docktavion This is definitely not a thing. This wasn't a thing in 9th, and isn't a thing in 10th. Reserves have no restrictions besides not being able to move after you arrive, not coming within 9 of enemy units, and following rules for set up
29:40- How many of these can you have in a normal army list? Like you mentioned he boosts “his unit”….. I don’t really know what troops is “his unit” but I got his by himself….. a few times! But let’s just say that his unit is the basic unit of Necron warriors! So if I have 4 units of them….. could I technically have 4 of these models on my list?
Trazyn needs a new model and new rules bad, his model is smaller then Warriors now and is tiny compared to other Overlords. He is also my second favorite character in 40k after Cain.
I was about to buy some leaders but now I see that Vargard Obyron, Nemesor Zhandrek and Anarkyr the Traveler are not included in codex or munitorium manual. What happened to them? Can I still play with them?
Oh where to begin.... 1. As a big fan of canopteks, glad to see them all, including FW, be playable, and their detachment is the cherry on top. Love that Wraiths are real good being my favorite model in the range 2. Im happy to see all crypteks get some nice buffs, and again their detachement makes it even better 3. Im glad GW is actually treating all the C'tann as the gods they are suppose to be on the tabletop. 4. Warriors definitely need at least a one point drop to go over better with players for sure, maybe buff the reapers just a tad bit more. 5. Im ok with the reanimator getting a nice points reduction but I would much rather it cost a little more if it got a 6 inch aura. 6. idk even know what GW is doing with Trazyn. Thats the equivalent of GW making the lion or Guilliman powerful in lore but trash on the tabletop. 7. I still hate that the Convergence of Dominion even has a points value. They should jsut be treated like faction terrain like the Sylvaneths wyldwood trees 8. Even though the hexmark got nerfed, there were still some decent buffs with Skorpekh destroyers and the Lord who is actually a better playable HQ option this time around. 9. Again like Trazyn idk why GW thought to nerf the Silent King so much even before the Codex. The literal centerpiece of the range isnt top tier is crazy 10. Lastly, shoutout to the Warden for not only getting a cheaper single model release but also getting a glow up before the codex and then one more with the codex. I predict it in a lot of list
Nurfing the Reanimator from 12" to 3" was too far. 6" would have made more sense as it is not a character. Yet another Codex where all the Super Heavy models are terrible and over priced except the Monolith. Which is only good in one Detachment situationally.
I think tier 4 is a kinda knee jerk assessment honestly. They were insane before but that was when you built like 1500 points around warriors not dying. Just take them for 250 with a chronomancer or something and they’re still going to be useful, T4 20 wounds, 40 OC, fast with move shoot move and annoying to shoot off the board with -1 to hit. Lots of ways to get rerolls if you want to punch up with lethal hits. You can’t just park them on an objective and keep it the whole game but I think warriors are still a better unit than pretty much anything in tier 3.
@@shigjetar its not a knee jerk assessment though they really are bad now. compare them to firewarriors... which are 8 points each. necron warriors are way worse.
@@shigjetar Maybe. BUT considering everything around them being nerfed they didnt need the nerf. Also with their previous ability it gave them the identity as THE premier Objective unit in Crons. Now? There are MUCH better units to take that have much better abilities and you dont loose that much OC and the other units killing power is vastly superior to the Warriors. If the Warriors had been nerfed but the Orb and Reanimator been left alone Id say they would be fine, or if the Orb and Reanimator where nerfed but leave the Warriors alone. BUT nerf them all together and the Warriors are just flat garbage. And that 20 man blob of yours is BEGGING for a Blast weapon to the face where it will average likely 7 to 10 shots. With Blast rules in 10th anything over a 10 man is a liability unless its uber cheap, Gaunts/Ork Boyz/etc, or it is very durable, the way warriors where BEFORE the nerf.
@@memnarch129 probably an unpopular opinion but new rez orb is better than the old. I can count on one hand the number of times a rez orb was even used before because the squad was either dead or fully healed from strats/ghosts arks/your turn’s RP already.
I'm happy for everyone that likes these changes. But Jesus Christ they literally killed my love for this army. I loved their new reanimation protocols. I loved the warriors. I loved the reanimator. I loved the orb. Now they ruined all of these. I know they had some crazy reanimation numbers and maybe they should have been dialed back a bit. But fuck man these changes literally made me just not want to play my favorite army.
Same, I had about 500 points of Necrons, and just stopped. Started building my Dark Angels, since I was torn between them and Necrons anyway. Everything I found interesting about Necrons got gutted. It no longer feels like playing Necrons. It feels like playing data sheets. Everyone saying “but there’s variety now” will be singing a different tune in 2 months when every Necron list is just going to be Tesla immortals with plasmancer and TSlord, Ctan shards, and as many Wraiths as you can bring.
@@rickkcir2151 Interested in hearing how this comment aged since this Codex made Necrons the strongest army in the game currently and the Dark Angels Codex turned out to be one of the worst one so far (right up there with Admech).
@@Trueflights It aged perfectly. I never said the Necron codex will be terrible. I said what made me interested in Necrons was gutted (which it was). I also said that Necron lists will just be Ctan and Wraith spam, which they were. As for the Dark Angels codex. Sure, I wish it were better, but I still like the look and aesthetic of the army.
His melee and shooting are kinda mid and his buff aura is mediocre when there is easy access to rerolls elsewhere. For 420p he should be way stronger and more impactful.
The silent king has very low defensive stats for the leader of a race. T10 is too easily wounded by almost every weapon in 40k, wounding on 3,4, or 5's against him. Also once his menhir are dead he loses over half of his effective damage potential, something that not even bracketing comes close to doing to other leaders.
No, he should never be auto-include, because it’s stupid and turns off people getting into the army when they hear a big expensive centrepiece model is an auto-include for the faction. The silent king is usable and fun tier. He should stay there
Still a little confused with everyone considering the thralls useless now, if they go in a squad with a technomancer the usual option for a durable warrior brick, its 6 wounds 5+ FNP, instead of 4 wounds 4+ FNP, still need 8x 1 damage wounds on average to get through them
They are no longer able to join Lychguard which was the best place for them. Also the additional wound kinda hurts reanimation since a roll of 3 now revives only one rather than both.
yep they've been restricted with less uses, but they still work in a brick of warriors right? Is that too specific a role lol Immortals are one of the only units that didn't change whatsoever but now everyone rates them the best because of a specific dynasty/strat/composition combo... which is only buying 12 mw for 2cp anyway. @@liveac3694
They’re just too expensive right now I think, but back down to 40-50 points they’d be played again. You just probably don’t reanimate them unless they’re the only things dead.
There was a massive wave of denial across most necronplayers when the codex dropped. As bitter as it may sound I am happy Auspex is bringing attention to how much these changes ruined the Necron identity because maybe now enough people will be upset to perhaps bring about some change
I don't think you can call Immortals tier one right now. They only have synergy with Canopek Court and and super squishy for being so expensive. Just because there isn't anything bettee doesn't mean they are good on their own. Seems like a tier 2/3 unit with no competition. Plasmancer too.
I'm disappointed they missed the opportunity to Upgrade Trazyn. They put him where you expect him in the codex, but his datasheet is so underwhelming compared to the lore that it's just wrong. They could easily have given him minor monolith type powers or downgraded the surrogates he needs to use. To be clear, the dude once summoned 5 armies in as many seconds and is the lord of a Dyson sphere....he could do better than pretend overlord that nerfs to use just a single cool thing this character does. Still love the model too.
ow I guess I misread that, thought it was 4+ fnp to characters... although the crypteks are the ones that needs protection the most, that does make em borderline useless unless maybe there points go down to 30 or 20... sad
Doomscythe is mostly trash, but it can actually do some silly shenanigans with Hypercrypt Legion. Nowhere near competitive, but it can be hilarious in a fun casual game
Codex always replaces any previous rules. Casually? Yeah you could maybe convince other friends, but in a formal event yeah no you have to use the newest released rules for your faction.
I disagree that cryptothralls are as bad as they are now. 3w is a flat downgrade to 2w 4+++ but im most cases is mathamatically equivalent, but now that it doesnt havs a fnp itself, it can now benefit from the technonancer fnp, making it slightly tankier in the same combo. The biggest downside is that the reanimation playstyle is less good but i don't think that warrents the unit going from top tier to bottom tier.
bump the deceiver to the 1st tier, the reployment is huge. take oit wraiths. the ap 1 kills an otherwise nice unit. they do 0 damage to terminators or vehicles.
They're not meant to be the sole damage dealers. They're fast moving and pretty tough, with OK shooting and melee. They're meant to push flanks and lightly defended points or hold points with heavy gunline support. Canoptek Court can also infiltrate them which is amazing.
Ah yes, Doomscythes coming in at second lowest place in the tier list Also Doomscythes: Will make you go mad simply by going at 3x the speed of sound Yes I’m only joking if they genuinely suck then they suck
I mean, reading through this, I wouldn't army my Lychguard OR my Immortals the way suggested here. I get why, but warscythes for the Lychguard is quite fine, let someone fire -2 AP weapons at them, the warscythe is far better hth. The Immortals do better with their gauss than a tesla, far as I am concerned too. And...also, honestly this shouldn't be argued right or wrong anyway. GW has and will continue to screw up the way people build these models from one, to the other, to a unit they invent to eventually nerf everything already out and make you buy it. That's the real Necron way :)
I think warriors is underrated. They die easier but their damage is much increased. Full re-roll hits with Lethal hits. 20 warriors plus a Chronomancer for 250 is decent i think. You just cant rush forward without thinking anymoore.
Yea absolutely agree, they could go down in points, but I cant help but to think the same! If for example you have a Plasmancer, and you just sprinkle some Illuminor Szeras on top of those rerolls that's about 8 Lethals with ap -1 at 24". Not backbreaking, but I don't think there's many units that can trade so effectively/ favourably at 24" with that chonky regenerating amount of wounds. And if instead you are targeting something in rapid-fire, those numbers start to go up rapidly. 40 Shots with lethal hits on +5, thats about 20 lethal hits at AP-1 because of Szeras salt. OR Hypercrypt+ 20 reapers warriors+plasmancer + szeras and pop the stratagem for rerolls. Thats now at least 20 lethal ap-2 wounds. That thing right there. Tasty. I think this codex will be quite fun to play around with!
@@davidefumagalli7413The army will play way moore fun. 30 Lychguards march on the objectives and let the enemy try to kill em is boooring. On friday im gonna try 70 of thoose tier4 warriors in Canoptek Court. The only problem is which Crypteks to use. They seem very good and cheap.

They hate flyers. Flyers when introduced and for 1 to 2 editions after where GOD TIER in every codex. So since they sold a shit ton now they all need to suck completely ass so you buy the NEW HOTNESS.
As someone who preferred immortals to warriors in the index I am here for this new codex. Quite a lot of negativity but that seems to be par for the course whenever GW releases....well anything really.... Personally after 20 games of throwing dble lychguard bricks into peoples faces and seeing if they can knock them down I'm keen for more builds being viable, even if a few units had to get a kicking for it to happen, they'll have their day again in a couple of years time, the plastic isnt going anywhere

Yeah, its funny with the 3d printers. I have several (jupiter, 2 saturns, and looking into another) . Sometimes printing is better (bases, bits, etc) but often for full models, by the time you buy the STL, buy resin and ALL the cleaning that goes along with it (gloves, paper towerls, IPA, cleaners, etc) it all adds up to where yes, it is cheaper... but I spend SO MUCH TIME cleaning, curing, assembling... heaven forbid I get misprints. @@TheCrmerry

Only issue is that not many people run Precision so by the time you'll get around to rolling the FNP the unit is gonna be wiped already
One thing to point out with Orikan, He can't go in Lych anymore so that makes the decision of which unit to go in very easy ;)
He's so bad though now because he can't go with lychguard. Warriors are alright with him, but it's a waste of points at that point.
The necron flyers need hover, and they will become perfectly usable
The cryptothralls can give the "Canoptek" keyword to a unit though, which is pretty cool
Useless since if you are taking them in a unit you first added a cryptek which gives the cryptek keyword to the unit
@@cormoranoimperatore8413 A little redundancy doesnt hurt :p Crypteks can get killed by precision or epic challenge.
_in the hands of the right player_ though. Tier Ones are you'd be actively trying to fail in order to use them badly.
@@LordCrate-du8zm I disagree with that. Tier lists like this speak to the peak potential power of a given unit. not their idiotproof-ness.
I actually used the LL w/Fulcrum joined to 6 LDs today. Brought them in 3" away for 1CP and one shot a Land Raider that was on an objective
Don't forget the Dominion is a fortification, so in Hypercrypt you can literally lane block with them lol
Reserves have no restrictions besides not being able to move after you arrive, not coming within 9 of enemy units, and following rules for set up
@@KhanTotalGaming99 thanks, I will have to double check where I saw that then, guessing may have been an itc etc ruling.
I miss the lord and the old their number is legion....
Why did you say 3 inch for the reanimator when the data sheet says 12 inch for 10th edition
because the index data sheets were null and void when the codex ones came out.
Thank you 👍
Missed opportunity to make it a Necrontyr list.
Love that Wraiths are real good being my favorite model in the range
2. Im happy to see all crypteks get some nice buffs, and again their detachement makes it even better
They should jsut be treated like faction terrain like the Sylvaneths wyldwood trees
8. Even though the hexmark got nerfed, there were still some decent buffs with Skorpekh destroyers and the Lord who is actually a better playable HQ option this time around.
9. Again like Trazyn idk why GW thought to nerf the Silent King so much even before the Codex. The literal centerpiece of the range isnt top tier is crazy
Warscythe lychguard with the translocation lord?? Would be viable?
wtf is GW doing that necron warriors are tier 4 now...
@@Khobaithey’d definitely be more interesting at 9ppm
Anyone know when the new detachments will be on the warhammer app?
I'm happy for everyone that likes these changes. But Jesus Christ they literally killed my love for this army. I loved their new reanimation protocols. I loved the warriors. I loved the reanimator. I loved the orb. Now they ruined all of these.
I know they had some crazy reanimation numbers and maybe they should have been dialed back a bit. But fuck man these changes literally made me just not want to play my favorite army.
I honestly don't know what the point was.
Agreed, they kind of lost their identity, now they're just "robot"
@@rickkcir2151 Interested in hearing how this comment aged since this Codex made Necrons the strongest army in the game currently and the Dark Angels Codex turned out to be one of the worst one so far (right up there with Admech).

It aged perfectly. I never said the Necron codex will be terrible. I said what made me interested in Necrons was gutted (which it was). I also said that Necron lists will just be Ctan and Wraith spam, which they were.
As for the Dark Angels codex. Sure, I wish it were better, but I still like the look and aesthetic of the army.
tier 3 has a pretty bad typo
Thank You
20:03 oh no! Honestly Silent should be an auto take warlord for Necrons, but seeing him on the middle tier just.....
His melee and shooting are kinda mid and his buff aura is mediocre when there is easy access to rerolls elsewhere. For 420p he should be way stronger and more impactful.
I'd rather large, expensive models not be auto take. I feel the same for named characters, for different reasons. The Silent King is both.
@@christopherclayton5500agreed
The silent king has very low defensive stats for the leader of a race. T10 is too easily wounded by almost every weapon in 40k, wounding on 3,4, or 5's against him.
Also once his menhir are dead he loses over half of his effective damage potential, something that not even bracketing comes close to doing to other leaders.
No, he should never be auto-include, because it’s stupid and turns off people getting into the army when they hear a big expensive centrepiece model is an auto-include for the faction. The silent king is usable and fun tier. He should stay there
I've gotten 4 games in with Hypercrypt and it's absolutely busted
It is uncanny how useless Trazyn remains in-game despite being one of the most dangerous characters in the lore.
Still a little confused with everyone considering the thralls useless now,
if they go in a squad with a technomancer the usual option for a durable warrior brick,
its 6 wounds 5+ FNP, instead of 4 wounds 4+ FNP,
still need 8x 1 damage wounds on average to get through them
They are no longer able to join Lychguard which was the best place for them. Also the additional wound kinda hurts reanimation since a roll of 3 now revives only one rather than both.
yep they've been restricted with less uses, but they still work in a brick of warriors right? Is that too specific a role lol
Immortals are one of the only units that didn't change whatsoever but now everyone rates them the best because of a specific dynasty/strat/composition combo...
which is only buying 12 mw for 2cp anyway. @@liveac3694
It's because they're 60 points. At 30 points they'd have a niche.
Because they don't get the save. The tech does.
I once played my 400 points necron army and my doom sythe soloed a 1000 point tyrannid army
Still love the model too.
cryptothralls still have a place as protection against precision imo... just not for 60 points
Cryptothralls only gave the cryptek a 4+ fnp, not any nobles. Wasn't really protecting much. Technomancer gives 5+ fnp to the whole unit.
ow I guess I misread that, thought it was 4+ fnp to characters... although the crypteks are the ones that needs protection the most, that does make em borderline useless unless maybe there points go down to 30 or 20... sad
Hey everyone, idk why they just did it now but Dante of the blood angels can now be paired with assault intercessors
Doomscythe is mostly trash, but it can actually do some silly shenanigans with Hypercrypt Legion. Nowhere near competitive, but it can be hilarious in a fun casual game
I want a buff for my beloved scarabs
I wish i could build a scarablists
Can you actually play the index necrons rather the codex ones? Or in sanctioned tournamenr you forced to use the codex stuff?
Codex replace index
Codex always replaces any previous rules. Casually? Yeah you could maybe convince other friends, but in a formal event yeah no you have to use the newest released rules for your faction.
I think the title is wrong shouldn't it be... Necrontyr list?
They really dont want me to play my army anymore do they?
I disagree that cryptothralls are as bad as they are now. 3w is a flat downgrade to 2w 4+++ but im most cases is mathamatically equivalent, but now that it doesnt havs a fnp itself, it can now benefit from the technonancer fnp, making it slightly tankier in the same combo. The biggest downside is that the reanimation playstyle is less good but i don't think that warrents the unit going from top tier to bottom tier.
Gw using all their power to make the obelisk the worst unit in every edition
They need to stop dicking over Trazyn and return him to taking over basic infantry models instead of other characters.
bump the deceiver to the 1st tier, the reployment is huge. take oit wraiths. the ap 1 kills an otherwise nice unit. they do 0 damage to terminators or vehicles.
They're not meant to be the sole damage dealers. They're fast moving and pretty tough, with OK shooting and melee. They're meant to push flanks and lightly defended points or hold points with heavy gunline support. Canoptek Court can also infiltrate them which is amazing.
I’m done with 10ed. They give candy to players and after that retake them before we can playing with it.
Ah yes, Doomscythes coming in at second lowest place in the tier list
Also Doomscythes: Will make you go mad simply by going at 3x the speed of sound
Yes I’m only joking if they genuinely suck then they suck
I mean, reading through this, I wouldn't army my Lychguard OR my Immortals the way suggested here. I get why, but warscythes for the Lychguard is quite fine, let someone fire -2 AP weapons at them, the warscythe is far better hth. The Immortals do better with their gauss than a tesla, far as I am concerned too. And...also, honestly this shouldn't be argued right or wrong anyway. GW has and will continue to screw up the way people build these models from one, to the other, to a unit they invent to eventually nerf everything already out and make you buy it. That's the real Necron way :)
That mega nerf to warriors just made the army not fun to play. If I wanted to play an elite army I'd play custodes
OR
Hypercrypt+ 20 reapers warriors+plasmancer + szeras and pop the stratagem for rerolls. Thats now at least 20 lethal ap-2 wounds. That thing right there. Tasty.
I think this codex will be quite fun to play around with!
