  • This is a story about a Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster 1200 (2020) and a custom built Classic Sidecar.
In this video you will see "tricks" that I perform known as "flying the sidecar", also known as "flying the chair". In addition, I put the Rig thru various road tests in order to document how it performs.
The video will chronicle the life of a new motorcycle (Triumph) as it is transformed into a customized sidecar Rig, including a montage of images showing the classic and award winning paint job that it received.
On a personal note, the story covers how I became interested in sidecars. This was during a trip to Europe as a teenager.
Later, how we located a qualified sidecar manufacturer, painter, and where we obtained "behind the wheel" sidecar rider training.
    (NOTE: I support safe motorcycle riding. The "tricks" were done in semi-controlled and safe locations and with much pre-planning.) #triumph #sidecar #hack #motorcycletrick #carshow #ural #custompaintjob #berlinwall #hungary #rig #motorrad #sivuvaunu #traysikel #motarasaikela @johnauvin

Very enjoyable video . Great looking rig ! I cruise my 2006 Patrol along PCH and am looking into adding a sidecar to my 2020 Slim . Happy motoring !

My first outfit was a 70s Ural which was not assembled as a unit when I brought it home on a trailer. After very rudimentary assembly, no fine adjustments to toe in or lean. I crashed it two times on that first ride. Once into a fence and the second time at a roundabout at speed. I knew I wouldnt be able to steer thru it so I just went over the top of the roundabout.
Learnt to fly the chair just as you showed. Gave some motorists a fright.
The best was when I found you could put it into really tight turns around a tree or a post aginst the sidecar wheel.Aim to just miss the object with the bars then pull into the turn with the rear wheel locked or with full power to slide. So much fun.
BTW Its not an inline twin its a parallel twin. Inline denotes fore and aft like a Douglas or an AJS Silver Arrow.I lnow, I know they call multi cylinder engines inline but this is me being pedantic.

Roman: Thanks for the stories. As to "flying the chair"' it is very important to know how it works/balances, for those times the "chair" pops-up unexpectedly. And, it is also fun.
True, as to nomenclature ... it is a parallel twin. My opionion, in-line seems more accurate :-)
