Modern Classic a Future Classic? Triumph Speedmaster Chrome Edition Motorcycle. Cinematic Review!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- We review the new 2023 Triumph Speedmaster Chrome Edition Motorbike. This was our favourite Bonneville until we rode the Triumph Bonneville Scrambler 1200 XC last year, BUT, has the Ol' Man changed his mind?
This review is a little different from our usual reviews, and rather than go into all the specs, we focus entirely on the emotive sentiments of the riding experience, and what the bike feels like. Filmed in spectacular scenery in North Wales, this is a must see video for all motorcycle enthusiasts!
The Ol' Man meets some cows, a horse and eats fish & chips. You can get a very good impression of what this modern classic motorcycle sounds like in this film. Turn up the speakers!
If you have made money, and as a result, have some disposable income, you may look at buying a motorcycle to invest your money in, and if you choose wisely, you may find the right bike that becomes a future classic, and actually, over time, appreciates in value. As we are entering a new era, with electric vehicles becoming more and more prevalent, the choice motorbikes of today, could be the valuable classics of tomorow. You could of course invest in gold, silver, stocks and shares or bonds, but a motorcycle is much more fun!!! This is not financial advice but merely our opinion. Choose wisely!
Check out RedAng Revival for info on long-term ownership of the Triumph Speedmaster Bonneville, and for his great reviews! @redangrevival

This video here has made me switch from getting a RE Super Meteor 650 or Indian Scout or Iron 883 to getting this bike. The Bonneville Speedmaster is easily top 5 best looking bikes in my opinion.
I've had great weather the past few days here in Texas and have been lucky enough to ride mine daily since last Friday. I fall back in love with it each time I hop on it. I'm also 6'2" and it doesn't feel small at all, I much prefer it over my old HD Duce.
Totally agree- this is my favourite Triumph. Very possibly my favourite bike, full stop
You and the Ol’ Man’s videos are why I own one, so thank you! Your two videos about the speedmaster are so good. I have seen all of your videos, but I have watched those particular ones multiple times.
just picked up my chrome speedmaster this week, and in a few weeks, I am going for a trip to the WA from Brisbane a 8 thousand KM round trip.
Awesome enjoy 😉
I'm going to go bankrupt watching your bike reviews. thank you for a lovely video and the various temptations found within.
I just picked up my new Speedmaster last weekend, based largely on all the positive reviews on UA-cam (especially yours). You're spot on about this bike: beautiful, comfortable, great handling, power when you need it. Thanks for your terrific videos -- keep up the good work!
Congratulations mate, wishing many happy years on that bike.
Great to hear!
Thanks so much! That was a great review! I am torn between the speedmaster and the T120. Thanks again!
Great to see the Chrome editions out and love your video today on this bike, nice to see some finer weather again. I spotted a Black and chrome one in Youles a few weeks ago, stunning bike and very well built. love my Bonneville T120 as you know. 👍
We’ve got a T120 booked. I’m worried that it’ll take over! Yours looks stunning 👌🏼
I always like they way you present the description about the bikes and instead of specs you always explain about the how the bike performs and how it feels while driving, which really matters lot.
Thank you! Much appreciated 👍🏼👍🏼
You sir were the deciding factor in me purchasing a new 2023 Bonneville Speedmaster today got it in the black and white.. I traded my 2011 Rocket 3 roadster as I wanted to downsize as my age 61..and arthritis dictated.. I bought the rocket a few years ago with the idea of riding it a few years the either flipping it or trading it in.but I've always loved British bikes for being smaller and good handling...the test drive on the speedometer which I must say the 1200 motor has all the power I need for my type of riding and the seating position is pretty comfortable...I don't do a lot of two up riding so that's not really a factor...and what I love about this bike is it has just the few options I wanted...I did order it with the windshield and nothing else and just plan to strap a round bag on the back for the few items i like to carry ...love your videos and reviews
Great comments Stephen after a rocket 3.
Your videos are wonderful to watch. You have enthusiasm. I will be 72 this year riding since 16. Your videos take me places. Thank you
Triumph has mastered the art of keeping the old school classic looks while implementing new technology.
I recently passed my test and was planning on buying a smaller bike such as the Royal Enfield classic 350 to gain experience and eventually work my way up to something bigger. But then the Triumph garage right across the street got a Speedmaster in stock... after walking in just to take a look, I walked out as the new owner. It was just too beautiful not to buy, and I don't regret it one bit! It's a big engine, but not ridiculous power for a new rider. And as you mentioned, it gets constant compliments and onlookers every time I take it out.
B-eautiful, my favourite Triumph too! Well worth the red-carpet treatment, wonderful cinematography! Thanks so much for 13 minutes of pure bliss. 👏
I've had wet dreams about the speedmaster for years. True beauty.
Late to comment but this is such a great video. The atmosphere, the feeling you get from this sort of a bike and beautiful countryside. It captures the essence of why motorcycling is so great. Also, extra points for all the lovely animals. Someone clearly has a big heart.
Thank you and pleased you enjoyed it 👍🏼
I bought my speedmaster chrome edition just over 2 weeks ago. I use it for my daily commute and I have to say I love it. It handles beautifully and is a real pleasure to ride. Great review.
The editting in this video was truly remarkable, high praise all the way 🙌🙌🙌 Thank you for a beautiful and insightful video!
I really believe that this type of bike should not be chain driven. Surely Triumph could upgrade this model to a belt drive fairly easily.
Why do you think it should be belt driven?
@@patrickking9600 Ease of maintenance and reliability. Lubing and adjusting the chain on a heavy bike with no center stand is an unnecessary hassle. Belts are clean, light, and require very little maintenance.
They made the thunderbird 1600/1700 belt driven so they couldve done with this
I love my Speedy!
Reduces horsepower to the wheel though. Chain is the most efficient way to transfer power, belt is in second, shaft drive is third.
Beauty is 100% everlasting, and you’re correct this bike will still be beautiful 50 or even 80 years on from now. What is “cool” by contrast can change as often as every week…
The Speedmaster is probably my dream bike. It has that classic look, is still a cruiser but it doesn't have that Americana look (which is a positive for me).
Well, after 27 years of abstinence I decided to ride again. So my decision was to buy a speedmaster. I took a testride and I felt in shock love with this bike. I`m close to 6'4'' and have no problems with the handlebar or that I´m too big for it. It´s a fine art of british engeneering and style building. I bought in march this year a "Jet Black" one and can´t get enough of it. Next month I´m retired and I know what to do. Collecting miles.🙃Keep on going with your great videos. Greetings from Hamburg, Germany
I like Harley Road Kings but at 65 they are just too heavy. Liked your feedback a lot Franko as I decide. Thanks from New Zealand.
Well, this Bonneville family from triumph is exactly a stunning effort of mechanics , technology and creativity design that is respectful to the classic standards but bettering everything. If it would be possible I would have the complete collection of it.
The one thing that popped from this video is your helmet . It wicked beautiful! Is it a personalized decoration or is it a specific paint job from the manufacturer? Thank you✌️✌️
I tell you what. The Triumph Speedmaster will most definitely be a classic bike in 30-40 years time not just 20 -30 Think of them of an investment. I think they would increase in value if kept in mint condition. Easily a Classic of the future. Just as long as they do not over produce them and reduce quality etc. Great review for a great bike.
I have one & you right about it being a talking point,I travel on my own ,& the bike attracts attention everywhere we go,I’m doing the Scotland coast in 4 weeks ,got all the kit motorway screen bags ,the bike is so easy to ride & she pulls too,I also follow red Angus.
I was at Triumph store in İstanbul today and I examined the bike inside out. It is not small by any means. My good man here is gigantic 😂
Great review btw!
Efendim! I'm over by Osmanbey metro. Can you tell me where your dealer is located? Tkkur!
Rolled 52k miles on my 1200 Thruxton yesterday. You'd never know it wasn't still brand new. Simple, wonderful lump. I fear it will outlive me by a good margin.
That countryside is so beautiful. What a great area to ride.
Looks awesome in the chrome and red ❤❤❤
Hello, I own a 2023 Speedmaster and love it and agree with everything you say in this video. The only negative I have found with the bike is that it doesn't have a USB charging port anywhere! Aside from that it's a beautiful machine!
Thank you for your in depth review of how the ride of this motorcycle is. This really helped. Very well done video. Since you have so much riding experience sir, I was wondering to hear your opinion on - if dresser or crash bars are worth putting on a Speedmaster.
I would not get them as it spoils the look 👍🏼
I have the 2023 black and white speedmaster. I put the smaller, black dresser bars to protect the engine. They are much more subtle than the chrome ones. I feel like they suit the bike
This is my 2nd season riding my '22 Speedmaster. From upstate New York, love this bike.
I have a 2020 great bike no problems
Gorgeous bike! I'm in love with the Speed/Street Twins but this one is another that when I look at it i just want to go buy one. Love the design.
7:33 love the reflection of the trees and the sky on the tank 😍
Hi.
Lovely bike, great review. I completely agree about Redang Revival. Angus has a bloke chatting about bikes in a pub style. Very good channel as well as yours.
Another modern classic, that's perhaps overlooked and that's the Kawasaki W800 Street, all blacked out of course. Early models didn't really grab me, but in 2023 ... wow, definitely enticing. If it only had belt drive!
I love this bike. I have Harleys but this is my favorite British bike. Hell yeah!!!
Loved every bit of this. I have been looking at a t120 but really like this bike too even at six foot two myself. Maybe a big screen would look cool and support a laid back posture.
I know someone who will agree with you. It's the Scrambler 900 for me though, lighter for me and I love them.
Just got to the end and there he is, RedAng Revival😊
I had a 2007 Speedmaster. Last carby model. I liked it, but due to a back issue, friends all giving up their riding and having to travel at least an hour to find some interesting roads (that aren’t also in need of repair) I sold it a few years ago. I miss it. You’re almost convincing me to make another purchase.
Functional ART beautiful.
Took my test last July , bought ( and love) my Triumph Trident 660 , rode a Speed Twin 900 and fell in love with that ( better for me as I’m a short ass and my partner enjoys coming out ) and it’s pretty , the Trident isn’t. I’ve just seen one of these on the road and cannot believe how cool it is . A little out of my price range , shall I just save up for a bit and get one ?
Beautiful scenery, beautiful bike and beautiful review. Regards from Malaysia
thing i feel when watching your reviews is always real excitement about riding in general with makes watching easier
Love this review you are a honest and down to earth gentlemen pick my chrome edition up on Thursday. 😀🤟
I agree, getting on a bike is just therapeutic. I don't want to ride at 100miles a second. Get on your ride, take the back roads and blast. I usually get lost for a day or two. The Speedmaster is perfect for this type of riding, that's why the Speedmaster is my favorite Triumph. It's just a nice ride. Thanks for the review!
Your vdo quality is sublime. I love to see the Speedmaster from many angles. Such a beauty.
Great video and very well said. I completely agree it is a stunning motorcycle especially in the chrome edition. However, I fell in love with the Scrambler XE and so thats the one I bought. 🙂
This is what you call a proper review of a motorcycle ! Such a satisfying review to watch ! it definitely satisfied my soul ! Thank you !
I had to put a different saddle on mine and have done numerous 10/11 hour days on it and loved every minute. And you’re right. It is beautiful bike.
You do live in Paradise. Stunning landscapes, tame animals, placid quiet stretches of absolutely jaw dropping green. I really missed these moments. Fly low over and through it on those beautiful classic looking machines and you hit Nirvana. And I dare say, risking sounding immodest, that that bike is even more beautiful than the rest, for if I sit on it and look down I will contemplate my own reflection. 😳 Dead gorgeous bike indeed. 😛
Cheers mate. All the best for you and your loved ones.
Beautiful Bike!!! I love Triumph!!!❤ Thank you so much for your very nice video!!!👍 Have a good day!!! Ride Safe!!! Jean-louis in west France😉✌
Well as I was considering cutting the video short I saw the beautiful closeup of cows. At that point I was hooked and watched the entire video. Then I hit ‘like’ and subscribed. Of course the bike is gorgeous but the cows won me over.
Welcome aboard. Cows, sheep and horses often make appearances in our videos 👌🏼
Really nice bike, never rode a control forward bike but I've seen them at the dealer and especially like the chrome editions Triumphs has come out with the THRUXTON RS CHROME EDITION being my favorite of them all. I think I would like to see duel analog gauges as apposed to the single. It does look smaller on you then your R-18. Cheers
Love that sound
Great to meet you on Sunday and thanks for recommending this review, I feel I really need one of these for my vehicle collection 😂 Not sure the missus will agree!
You too! You could have plenty of space to put it😉
Great review as ever! Love the scnerary and the bike, the speed master is definitely my favorite Bonneville while the bobber is a close second.
Lovely quality video and review, I really like this bike and I might even get one..
Beautifully done video and beautiful looking machine
I love the chrome and eh beautiful
Animals again 👌👌👌👍👍
Enjoy where I'm riding and what I'm riding. Right on 👌
I like this format. As you said we can look up the numbers on a manufacturer's site. I want to know how it feels and handles. More of the same please.
It definitely works for bikes like this where power and weight take a back seat to looks, sound and feel.
im looking to get a Triumph Speedmaster 865 i love Triumphs
Poetry from Triumph and the old man. Your well chosen prose do it justice.
I really like chrome so I like how this bike looks. Gloss red and chrome go so well together.
Slight spoiler is the cables attached to the bars with rubber bands. Would be better off internally wired.
Excellent review . I have owned a T120 Black and currently own a Thunderbird 1600cc together with a Kawasaki Vulcan 650 s...which do I prefer for fun, agility and bang for buck...? Dont shoot me too hard but the Kawasaki hands down! Yes I am a heathen I know but having ridden all 3 its just my humble opinion. Keep up the great content matey
So I guess you like it. 🙂 Styling has some similarity to my Meteor... Been following RedAng for some time now. He does a great job. I just registered for my second DGR which he turned me on to. I enjoy seeing someone review a bike they truly love. Nicely done. (Cows even enjoyed it !) Cheers
I couldn't agree more, but then again, I am somewhat biased... 😎 Also agree about RedAng Revival. Angus is a lovely guy and as you say deservedly of more views and subscribers. 👍
I have white walls on mine. The black and white tank with white walls looks great. One extra front tooth would be good for cruising in the Aussie outback.
I appreciate your thoughts and words on this I like old school glass packs (like cherry bombs ) , but chrome straight blow and add six inches or more on the frame your 6-2 1/2" me too so your reviews are important.
I just bought a 1200 Thruxton, and also appreciate the build quality. It is a brand everyone recognises. It has a Euro build quality. Everyone likes it.
Just wish it had some grunt.
Fine on Welsh country lanes.
Youre riding near Llangollen....?
Just like Snap-On’s old slogan “I invest in precious metals, don’t ask to borrow them”.
Great reviews as usual, and the bike seems nice!
Love watching your videos as I am 6'4". Beautiful bike. Just guessing but I take it the Honda hornet is not yout favorite 😅.
Love the current Speedmaster - always have. With the launch of the Super Meteor 650, Triumph should consider releasing a 900cc version of this. It would take very little work to accomplish that. As a T100 owner I'd definitely consider that as my next bike.
Thank you for your review. It's a beautiful bike for sure. It's $15K here in the US. It's certainly one for the list...
Super video in beautiful countryside, bike’s not bad either
Thank you
Listening you talking about this bike, you could be talking about my Indian Scout that rode for a couple of years. The handle bars and the shape of the gas tank also the foot peg and controls arrangement are very similar.
The real star of the show is that 1200 parallel twin. It’s an absolute peach! Enthusiastic, but not intimidating - and all the noise and theatre you could ever want.
When I see a Speedmaster, I can’t help think a Black edition or a new Thunderbird would be awesome though…
Having a bike that looks good is as important as any performance feature. Triumph does it well with its classic lineup.
Hello Ol' Man... Enjoyed the video! And I wish I could have been there to share the "Fish & Chips"! Looked delicious!
Headlight's far too small & too low, hunched down like an injured neck; it needs to be an 8 inch Bentley-esque brass job with it's head rightly held high -"I'm bright & I'm proud!" . . . Oh, & that dial begs for a Smith's clockface & elegant 'period' needle.
The rest of the bike is gorgeous - with stock footrests, I'm 5' 8" with a 32 in.leg, (no relation : ) & crave lumbar integrity for more than a week & two bad level-crossings - but, as 'Gentlemen's-carriages' go, it is indeed a fine & handsome beast. Want one : )
I think this is a beautiful bike. Triumph has done a great job.
I literally couldn't decide on this or the scrambler. Got the scrambler after your last review 😂
Great review, glad your back on Triumphs, what a stunning bike, everything a cruiser should be,and top quality,if I didn't have my T100 I would definitely buy one,not a bad price also,,you pay for quality and this bike ticks all the boxes, change the front springs to progressives and job sorted, look forward to your next one, hopefully not an adventure bike, unless it's a Triumph of course
I love the new speed masters, I think they look amazing, however it's a feet forward position, I really don't like that so much, hopefully a kit to reposition the foot pegs more in the similar position to the t100 or t120. Thanks great vid.
Envy. 😄 Thanks for the vid!
I see a 2007 with 18,000 mile for $2700.00 should I grab that or the 72 Daytona all original with spares and a floor jack,? It's been sitting fluids drained for 7 years around the same price?
Bring the z900rs . I think it’s really a good contender 👌
It's definitely a fine looking bike. Seems like it would be especially good for a taller than average person, too. Great review and thanks!
Sir, you just convinced me to visit dealer and take it out for a spin. Cheers from Poland
Great video! One question though. I'm right now looking at the Chrome edition speedmaster, but I have to ask. On a sunny day, do you get a lot of sun reflection blinding you when you're riding? I know it sounds crazy, but I just have to ask before I pull the trigger on buying one. Thanks very much!
Hi thanks 😊
I do mention what you asked in the video 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Yes, I'm aware of that. It's always my theory that has time goes on, things can change. You've ridden the bike many more miles since the video I'm assuming, and I'm just hoping that you haven't experienced any glare issues up till now.
I bought it as my first bike =)
The BEST.
Beautiful bike, but I think Triumph missed the mark in a few places. Why not belt drive, they did it on the Thunderbird, so they know how. Oil stains on that nice rear rim must be frustrating. And the Speedmaster has the same short front mudguard as practically every other modern motorcycle, a stupid example of fashion before function. It doesn't protect the bike, you can clearly see how that fat front tyre has deposited some Welsh dirt on the radiator.
How is it compared to a thruxton
It’s more relaxed and laid back and a bit less sharp
Brilliant 🎊 🎉! Love the passion Mr Darcy!!!
loving the sexy background music
Great review, thanks. Thinking about getting one but I’m also drawn to the speed triple RR. Obviously two completely different bikes. Just wondering if you have had a chance to review the RR? Or did I miss it? Thanks again mate
No we didn’t review the RR. 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Cheers mate. Didn’t think you had. Not really your style.🍻
Great review, it's certainly one of my favourites, and money permitting...
I enjoy your views and perspective. Personally I've considered to buy a somewhat older model Speedmaster (for the aesthetics), but I like this incarnation as well. I thought it would be too small for me as well, but as I see you riding on it, it doesn't seem to be too bad. I wonder if it can become an investment object, just like whisky for example. Keep the odometer at 0 and preserve the bike for some years...could be a great idea with the electric bikes coming. The only problem is fuel availability in the future I guess (petrol as a heavily taxed luxury product).
