Personally, the back is awesome. I'm surprised you dont like it, most reviewers loved it but thats the beauty of different opinions on design. :) good review!
Ok, I have worked in the service industry, specifically the restaurant industry. Food reviewers are very critical " OF EVERYTHING". So I get you guys that review cars. My first Hyundai was the newly designed 2016 Luxury, a great car, then I upgraded to the 2019 Ultimate, also a great car, and I can find nothing to complain about. I have now ordered this one, and here in Canada, our top trim is the Ultimate, " the Limited in the States". I test drove this car, and for the money, man you can't beat it. So what if there isn't a physical button for certain functions. You can preset everything in this car, so you don't have to fuss about the lack of one. The driving experience is top notch, .. it's quiet, and pure fun to drive. This Hybrid, as far as I am concerned is going to be a real competitor, and despite the fact that so many reviewers don't really like the new design, ... It's like food, either you like it , or you don't, but I get it, you have to find some faults with it, or your subscribers might be disappointed in your opinion because they don't agree with you. Let them, and in the meantime just enjoy the simple fact that Hyundai nailed it with this one.
@@billschunemann7801 it’s my wife who really drives it, but she still likes it. Easily getting around 35mpg average without trying. Only negative so far is how loud the backup noise is. Had to muffle the speaker it was so embarrassing
The back really matches the front with the fang like design in the lights, I love them, however I do agree with Hyundai badge in the rear window. I’m not a fan of that at all. I just purchased mines last week, same trim and model in the video, unfortunately with inflation the way it is, it was a little bit more expensive than what you quoted in the video, but it’s a great car, and fun to drive. I’m trying to get that 37 mpg out of this car, right now I’m only at 30.5
I have one and I love the look from front to back. I love the apple carplay and all of the tech my car has. I also have a 2014 Tucson that is pretty awesome also.
Where have you been all the while @shiftinglanes. I really appreciate your direct commentary where you provide your opinion and don't leave the viewer inconclusive on a subject. Many reviewers just crust over pertinent talk points. Pictures don't do this vehicle justice because when I saw it in person I was impressed. It seems a bit overstyled though. Especially at the side with all the angles which makes it too busy, but there ends my dissatisfaction. The interior is a score for me also.
This truely is an excellent review! Yuor evaluation, both faborable and unfavorable, id a breath of fresh air compared to the dealer-backed reviewers who use the terms awesome, beautiful, gorgeous and brilliant to (only) sell the car. Not every feature of the Hyundai Tucson can be described in positive terms. But most of them can. I own a 2022 Tucson Limited, after owning a series of 8 German luxury cars. I'm tired of paying high auto prices with limited reward.
I liked this review, but I was hoping you would comment on the rear turn signal design, whereby the turn signals are placed down low on the rear bumper and not up high beside the brake lights (where most drivers are accustomed to looking). It this not potentially a dangerous setup, especially when another vehicle is following too closely behind and may not be able to see the turn signal in operation? It seems in this case that Hyundai may have opted for looks over function (and safety). I haven't owned the Tucson (or any Hyundai for that matter) to know if this poses a problem, but I'd be interested in your comments (or comments from others), as I'm considering the purchase of this vehicle in the next month. Thanks.
Got the phev ultimate. Things to know, no power folding mirrors, the mirror adjustment is not part of the seat memory or the driver profile, driver profile has to be manually selected and is not registered to the fob, no wireless carplay or android on the bigger screen but is available on the smaller screen (insane), rear turn signal is dim and on the lower bumper where no one can see it (installed retina burning leds), and there's a physical button to push on the door handles to open or close the doors. Ride is very comfy and interior is well laid out and luxurious. 50km range on a charge. Not too bad for a $60k suv that looks unique. Had a mazda cx30 gts before, couldn't stand the harsh ride but it had features that would be awesome on this car like walk away locking, touch sensitive doors to open, memory mirrors. Still no power folding mirrors. Ironically the toyota chr has them but lacks even a sunroof. Wth are these manufacturers doing? Idk. In europe all these features are either standard or available. Can't have it all these days i guess. Good video.
Huge shortage in Tucsons. I was fortunate to find one that isnt white. I take possession today. Time will tell how it performes but the interior and exterior suit my taste. I got the Preferred Trim
I had to get a white one! But that’s ok I prefer to at least have the interior black which it is. I’ll just have to make sure I get it washed frequently lol
Is the lack of wireless Carplay and Android Auto due to the inbuilt Sat Nav in the higher trim? Are Apple/Google pressuring the car companies to use only their mapping systems?

@shifting lanes. What color is this, deep sea or phantom black? Thanks for a very detailed review. I am actually undecided between deep sea or phantom black.
Thanks. My 1st choice actually is Amazon Grey however in my country it's interior is 2 tone, the creme gray combination. It's a bit hard to maintain hence I'm looking at deep sea or phantom black, which is better in your opinion?
Thanks @Shifting Lane. I think I will go for phantom black with gray interior. I like dark body colors maybe because my current ride is panther black which is a lighter black, like it's in between gray and deep black, although maintenance is a challenge.

I've had mine for 2 weeks. I don't like it, but I must say I'm coming fresh off driving the 2016 Santa Fe, it has so much more power, it's hard for me to adjust down to this. I think I'm going to do a trade in and up grade to the Palisade.
Actually I love the low lights. In the front cause you won't blind people, in the back cause if people behind you can't see your flashers, they're too close😅
Hi guys. So I was interested on getting a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy then I started watching UA-cam reviewers like this one so I was intrigued when they mentioned 37-38MPG for 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited Hybrid. However, I started digging deep because I couldn’t make up my mine on a Calligraphy or Tucson Hybrid. So I started hitting the forums and I have read soooo many comments of ppl getting less then 30MPG on the Tucson Hybrid but also forums of a lot of ppl mentioning how they are having jerky/stuttering driving experiences after purchasing the Tucson. After reading the forums and the nightmare that ppl are going through with the 2022 Tucson, I think I am now second guessing on getting a Tucson and avoiding going through the headache of transmission issues or jerky transmission experiences and just getting a calligraphy.
I ve watched like about 10 reviews for this car, and this is the 1st someone said he isnt a fan of how the back was designed. I personally like it no offense. But great review though. Different people different taste and opinion.
Gorgeous suv in person. I’m looking to get the AWD Limited NON-Hybrid. All SUV’s are ugly from the back. The rear windshield wiper is perfectly placed but the wiper could have been a few inches longer. Touch screen is okay for me. Piano black actually gives the interior a classy look. My concern would be glare. I’m hesitant to buy because I’m not sure of the flat button panel.
Thankfully, impressions are subjective; and like opinions and other things, we all have have them and most don't care about your imprjessions. However, the back not relating to the front? Triangle elements off the rear tail lights which look very similar to the triangular patterns of each of the daytime running lights, and the four rear light elements also remind a person of a triangle. You like the so-called "chiseled lines" and front end because they are different and will stand out...well so will the rear end. Yes, I am biased, I have a white limited coming in soon to the dealer. And one thing that attracted me to the Tucson was the fact it is different from others. Right now, it is almost impossible to tell one mid-size SUV from another from the front, side or rear. However, if you have a Tucson come up from behind you will know it is a Tucson or at least different than all other similar types on the road; same with the side if you see it, and if you come up behind one; again, it is unique and not like anything else on the road. Rear emblem is bad? Welcome to the future or go back to the 40s. Rear fascia not a lover but sure not a hater. Wired is due to the nav system and NOT the ONLY vehicles with the problem. VW does not offer wireless with nav systems installed on the system as to others. I was told it was due to the nav maps and problems with Apple/Android with a system that connects without any basic human intervention (connecting a wire), is that true? Not sure. Also told it was due to the modem being a single band and a dual band is needed; one band for bluetooth, the other for smart phone wireless connectivity. Not sure, don't personally agree since I'm about a likely to use android auto as I am about moving to CA...NEVER happen. And can't get over a piano black and a fingerprint or dust magnet. Got news for you, I live in a very dusty location, surrounded by farms down the mountainside, I had one of these (2022) for a few days, and never really noted any fingerprints from the driver sear, not any problem with dust; even though the dash panel top was duty as heck. All i can say is you need further use of a vehicle vs. spending five minutes inside. Even your video shows fingerprints on the screen but none on the piano black panel. Why is that? At this point, I shut own the video and made sure not to subscribe to your opinionated review. I prefer reviewers to review with facts and videos or photos and who keep their personal opinions to themselves. Since to be honest, as I am, I DO NOT care if you like something or not. I'm sure you don't give a damn about my views as I'm sure you will disregard what I reviewed about your opinions and not understand it. And I say...good, since again. I DO NOT CARE and only reason for the long post, vs turning off when you made statements about the rear tail lamps is I am bored today. And to reiterate, I prefer reviews with non-opinionated statements that are based on facts; not opinions.
Your are not wrong about your don't likes. It's your opinion and opinions are like assholes everybody has one. I happen to love the entire suv. That's why I bought one in white and have another on order
Can you let me test drive it in our northern Ontario weather,,see how many things go pop,,after the pot holes,,or them really cold cold morning's blowing snow,,ill look after the gas ,,at our crazy prices 🤣🤣
Do some research on the wireless vs the non-wireless car play and android auto and then you might make sense. For one thing it is also common on other models with units that have navigation system installed. So don't imply by your attitude that it is only Hyundai. And then do some research and find out why vs. giving your non-wanted opinion. A review is a review if you want to make it an opinion piece don't call it a review. And if someone lives their life for wireless ACP or AA, then get the simple, non-expensive adapter and move on.
The performance is poo I’m sorry. I test drove this car and the acceleration is very very hesitant until you dev the engine past 4000 rpm’s so your better off just flooring it every time
Not true, you dont have to floor it lol, learn to drive. I drove from tx to bama, to fl, back to bama and finally back to tx. In 2 weeks no issues on just driving like a normal person. Its not a 350hp 19mpg suv lmao.
@@shaun9156 (MY personally opinion so disclaimer lmao) I test drove two Tucsons and it was disappointing it’s what happens when you drive a 4 cylinder suv with 187hp @6000 rpm it’s takes a bit for the car to actually accelerate whereas In an Elantra it takes less torches cus of the weight of the car and with other suvs with better engines like the jeep grand Cherokee and Ford F-150 . I’ve driven many cars throughout the years. I know quality when I see it and they should have at least made this vehicle a V6 with all the hype they advertised. It looks sharp but performance could be a lot better in my personal opinion.
Hyundai got Toyota’s top engineer a couple years ago. They are the new Toyota. I remember when Toyota was the cheepo tinker toy of a car back in the 70s.
Sorry but this car is not as good as made out. I’ve had mine for three months and done 5000 miles. The ride is awful and the tech is flawed. It looks the part and there are nice points but give me back my Honda CRV
@@sammyjammy6647 This car is a head turner and when you see what’s inside, you will be impressed. I had a test drive and based on that decided to buy the N Line mild hybrid version. I’ve had problems from the start. The speed recognition software is constantly inaccurate, telling me roads are 40 mph when they are 60mph or vice versa. The car will display that I am over the speed limit of 60 mph when I am doing 45mph or less. I’ve even had the car tell me the motorway I was on, was an 80mph limit. I have an iPhone and an iPod touch for my music. Unless I physically connect the phone via usb the car will not accept the iPod touch and constantly displays connect and disconnect messages whilst driving. The collision warning system is far to sensitive and to date I’ve lost count how many times it has come on, It even picks up parked cars. The tailgate does not respond to a single beep for closing on the keyfob, you have to hold it down till it closes. Now the ride and it’s my biggest gripe. A test drive is not enough to realise the car is an absolute bone shaker. I’ve never experienced a ride like this since my minivan in the late 70’s. Every bump, every repair patch on the road will travel up through the car and then through you and your passenger’s seat. In some cases, it’s actually painful. Maybe South Korea has perfectly flat roads but I drive in the UK and the roads are bad. I wasn’t expecting Citroen type suspension but modern cars should not be like this. Many reviewers get paid for not mentioning the bad points and I certainly didn’t read anything to suggest this was a problem but it’s so bad, I would give the car back in a minute if I could have my money back. One of the Honda dealers told me they were loosing sales to the new Tucson. I wouldn’t worry as most drivers will be back in Hondas after a Tucson. I know I will, Hyundai will not be on my wish list for my next car. Final bad point. 32.7 mpg on a 1.6 mild hybrid car is the best I can get out of it. Disappointed? Absolutely. Any good points? Yes. The styling is great, the interior is spacious and it’s unlike any car I’ve driven. I have a sun roof that opens and tilts and there are nice little touches like the rear window blinds. The Apple Car play when plugged in is great but that’s because it’s Apple. The door mirrors will open when you get near to the car but you still have to press the button to open the door, so I don’t really see the point of that. My Honda mirrors and doors just opened the minute I touched the door handle. This was not a cheap car, in fact I felt it was overpriced but it suited my budget on a PCP. To sum up, I now feel Hyundai still are what they started of as, a brand trying to compete with the Japanese. They may be catching up but this car is no alternative to a CRV or a RAV.
Isn’t the N Line supposed to be a “sport” version? Wouldn’t that necessarily have a stiffer suspension? I feel for you- I had the same regret after buying a Tacoma TRD Off-road, but I kind of did it to myself by picking that model.
@@larryaugsburger8452 it wasn’t sold to me as a sports version but there are three drive modes, normal, eco and sport. I only use eco which is the default mode and occasionally normal but I don’t feel or see any difference between these two modes.

Hope you are patient. Palisade and Telluride are out well over a year if you order one now.
@@mr.wilson8340 the dealerships I go to have two left. I'm going this Saturday to see if they still have it
What do you not like how’s the suspension
@@gonzodetroitify you feel the bumps in the road, Michigan has a lot of bumps
I personally love the back end. So nice, reminds me of a mustang
I absolutely love my new 2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL!!! ❤️😄👍
Actually I love the low lights. In the front cause you won't blind people, in the back cause if people behind you can't see your flashers, they're too close😅
I agree.
What color is your test car? Deep Sea or Phantom Black?
Deep Sea, that's why you see hints of blue.
Good review! Yes, I agree that it is a great compact crossover and will soon come with a PHEV version.
The 2021 Hyundai Tucson ultimate with the petrol naturally aspirated 2.5l 4 with the 8 speed at,
Is this deep sea blue color?
I ve watched like about 10 reviews for this car, and this is the 1st someone said he isnt a fan of how the back was designed. I personally like it no offense. But great review though. Different people different taste and opinion.
Yup, first I have heard of it as well. Those taillights are the most impressive look on the road.
Not the rear turn signal.
What makes it a cross over ?? Never understood that when this car is clearly a medium sized suv
Wireless CarPlay is on the way - it is supposed to be a software update. I believe Hyundai is expecting the update by end of the year.
I hope you are right. I haven't heard about this anywhere else.
I hope they put this hybrid system in the sonata
I’ve just ordered the highest spec… it’s doesn’t make sense for the higher end model to lack wireless features, after all we are paying too price!!!
The perfect car for those who don't know anything about cars.
And for those that do
Thank you !
Min 4:51, why is that? doesn’t have any sense o.O
What i want to see that though it a very good suv yet it need.to be a 7seater car which i believe the filipinos families like to have.
Does it have downhill assist?
I dont like the exterior design overly styled! I want smooth simple elegant yet sporty look
Go for Mazda
Do some research on the wireless vs the non-wireless car play and android auto and then you might make sense. For one thing it is also common on other models with units that have navigation system installed. So don't imply by your attitude that it is only Hyundai. And then do some research and find out why vs. giving your non-wanted opinion.
A review is a review if you want to make it an opinion piece don't call it a review.
And if someone lives their life for wireless ACP or AA, then get the simple, non-expensive adapter and move on.
Where in the world are you this is the same as 2021 car ? There no difference.
Black doesn’t look good in a year or two, and way too much work to keep it up. Unforgiving color.
Now you tell me 😭
Black can look great forever if you know what you are doing when you wash and dry it.
Try as they may they will never have Toyota quality or resale value.
Hyundai got Toyota’s top engineer a couple years ago. They are the new Toyota. I remember when Toyota was the cheepo tinker toy of a car back in the 70s.
Peace of sh*** ... I have 2016 one now, always continue problem.
Good luck!
Sorry but this car is not as good as made out. I’ve had mine for three months and done 5000 miles. The ride is awful and the tech is flawed. It looks the part and there are nice points but give me back my Honda CRV
Can you give us more detail. How is the tech flawed, ride awful, etc etc
@@kennydonaldson9771 oh ok. So we can assume the ride is bad in all models - bummer!
Way over priced
It’s less than the competition for compact SUVs, and you get so much more.
