It would be interesting if TFL made a chart or ranking for these vehicle tests. Perhaps use a RAV4 as the control vehicle (since it's the most popular SUV in the world), and then rate the other SUVs above or below it for each test.

I used to own a 2016 Kia Sorento AWD with the v6. And i owned it for literally one year before the transmission blew up and the transfer case and the rear shaft went with it too. The car was awesome, it was peppy, not too shabby on gas, and it was incredible in the dirt especially with the 50/50 torque split. It never struggled till i got it stuck up to the headlights in snow in a ditch (got ran off the road by a semi). BUT I kept having issues with it acting like it was stuck in 4 low like a truck kept skipping the tires, and grinding. There was almost no information on it but after digging around it turns out Kia/Hyundai were so cheap they used the same air activated transfer case shenanigans in the tiny cars and the bigger suvs with the v6. The v6 was too strong and put too much strain on the whole transmission setup which would activate the locker when it wasn't supposed to. And I was rough with mine but others were not and still had the same problem, basically from the factory they were coming out destroying their transmissions. Wouldn't recommend a hyundai/kia anytime soon.

I really like Hyundai's offerings. Let us keep in mind this is a Cross Over, they are a specific type of vehicle by definition. That being said, I also like that they offer an off-road option for those who are a little more adventurous. The Tucson really performed excellently in that type of scenario, those tests do stretch the vehicles capabilities, but they also illustrate how well the traction control system works.
As a cross over, it is excellent. These types of vehicles spend most of their time on the road, but they are very well suited to low traction street driving conditions. As a cross over, they also suit some off-road scenarios. Say you don't want a truck or a full-on off road rated vehicle. You want some capability, but don't need extreme off-road performance. These little cross overs fit the bill.
Trails by a lake looking for a fishing spot. Plenty of gravel roads, some mud, or basically getting caught in the rain when you're in the grass, their perfect for that type of vehicle. They are impressive for what they are in my opinion.

I feel like in the event of a snow storm or icy road scenario, going around a corner and easing onto the gas, I don't think this car's all-wheel drive system would catch itself if the car started to slide because it's so sluggish to respond.

If it's anything like the Palisade it will do well in snow. Ice is a struggle for all cars unless you have studs. Is it Subaru level, maybe not, but it works great for most drivers. By Subaru I mean 2000s, non CVT.

As with most crossovers, they're ok for gravel roads or maintained forest service roads but anything harder than that would necessitate a more capable vehicle - a Cherokee Trailhawk or Bronco Sport badlands, or just step up to a vehicle with a true 4wd system and low range transfer case. Because as testing has shown time and again, even the best AWD system is no substitution for a true 4x4 witj a good set of all terrain tires.

Zero under body protection. Not even covers for aero purposes. This is clearly not designed for any serious off-road driving. I really like the way the infotainment is a design feature to the dash and not just a Tesla aftermarket tack-on. Ugly gawky shifter, is obsolete and just needs to go. Clearly showing its time for an interior update. Speaking of interiors, far too much black.

Hyundai quality has definitely improved since they came to be long ago. But they are still learning an trying to meet customer needs/ wants/ and demands. They have yet to actually enter the off roady segment. They are more into city vehicles for now unfortunately. Each manufacturer has there issues when it comes to your personal vehicle issues but i think Hyundai is better than some out there. Not all but some. But again they still have ways to go and alot to learn. Americans need options and hyundai is dragging there feet when it comes to giving us more.

Not to mention both cars didn’t come with a key immobilizer so they’re easy to steal. I swear all the company did was redesign their logo and people swear they are more reliable now.
