As a design major and a huge Star Wars/General Grievous fan, the fact that such an awesome looking villain has only 7 minutes of screen time is criminal imo.
I agree his design is sooo good
And George Lucas saw him as a cowardly villain rather than a bad ass
If Darth Vader is like a tank, then General Grievous is like a fighter jet.
Hes actually a pure Damage Dealer who heavily lacks defensive Abilitys

We need an entire movie dedicated to Grevious as the bad guy... same with Dooku... same with Maul... 3 insanely good villains with short roles that can easily play a main role
this movie exists, its just not a movie but a tv series that is 5 movies long...
Yes, but Disney would probably ridicule him
I love just how deliciously sinister Matt Wood’s voice for Grievous is. The little cackle at 5:10 is a great example. Just radiates the personality of how much fun a badass cyborg like him would be having in a fist fight with a fleshy little human.
His voice is so great
I’d love to know what effects and processing they put to make it sound so robotic
In this movie grievous was actually voiced by George Lucas himself. As much as I hate to sound like a nerd, George didn't have a voice actor for grievous so he did it himself, but at the time George also had a bad cough which he just let into the recordings which is also where grievouses famous cough came from.
@@lmao6142 jeeeeesus amazing trivia , although I’d still be shocked to hear the voice wasn’t heavily processed
@@jackcharlie9322eh ignore that guy, he’s wrong (kinda). Grievous was voiced by Mathew Wood in this movie, George was the one who did the sounds of grievous’ coughs and wheezes.
5:49 this might be my favorite shot in all of Star Wars. It's just a beautiful close up of cgi that's better than a lot of what we see today.
I agree it looks really well done
Overall the CGI of Grievous was Just so ahead of Its time and still is masterclass compared to the bs Marvel does
97% of the prequels CGI is trash that looks worse year after year. It was trash then when I saw ROTS in theaters in highschool and it's trash now. The backgrounds look so fake and the characters have so little to act off of. Grievous is better than most of it, most of the time.
@@cantbelieveimdoingthis7550 *Made in 2005. And stop saying it was trash back then... Resolution wasnt even that advanced then so it was really hard to notice things that look off. But yeah, nowadays, besides Grievous, RotS CGI gets worse and worse
@@Keneral_Genobi I know it was made in 2005, I was there. You said it was still a masterclass compared to Marvel today and I disagree very strongly. Your resolution argument has nothing to do with the movie theater experience. The entire prequel trilogy suffered from skilled actors forced into wooden performances with awkward dialogue, trying their best to perform opposite nothing because the characters and backgrounds had to be added in afterwards. The use of high quality practical effects holds up. Chewbacca occupies space on set and looks genuine. The other actors can interact with him and react to his body language, etc. All of that is impossible with George Lucas' cheap and ill-advised CGI. Marvel studios *typically* blends their CGI more deftly into frame because they've had more practice and better tech. Also, the actors are directed better in their interactions with CGI characters and MOCAP suits.
The way they animated the glass breaking at 1:37 still holds up to this day.

5:08 ooh I felt that 😖
i feel like Grievous should get his own show, showing the planet he came from and kaleesh life and Dooku coming, all that would be really cool.
Ive wanted that so much
Yes!
We should also watch a story of him before or during the clone wars where he’s been killing Jedis. We’ve only seen him kill Jedi in the Clone Wars, and that was WAYYY BACK Season 1. Since then, we’ve never seen him kill any other Jedis again. We need ALOT more of that. Grievous said he’ll kill them all. The result, he nobody else 😂. So high key, we need a Grevious film. ❤
don’t you mean the best character in star wars
YES
He's up there top 5 imo
YEAH
yes
Facts tbh
In minute 6:33 we are the witnesses of the saddest moment in the whole Star Wars series... I hope that there's a little chance for a movie, which would include a entire biography of General Grievous... Let's say honestly - this character is one the best character ever made by Lucas...

yes
Imagine that the new canon for the reason of his cough is, not because of Mace Windu or his robotic parts; but because Sidious force crushed Grievous on a meeting because he coughed once while Palpatine was talking.
Grievous, Maul and possibly Cad Bane should have gotten so much more screen time

General grevious was my favorite character and only made it for about 2 movies he should’ve got more respect
Agreed you should watch clone wars 2003 if you haven't it shows a cool grievous
learning about this character's story has led me to feel pain seeing his demise
He did pretty well for a guy in charge of the doomed to lose side of a war.
You can tell he held back during his fight with obi-wan, there were many chances where he could have outright killed him and willingly decided against it. Watching his extra arms during the lightsaber battle, It's almost like he secretly wanted to die.
“Keep the ship in orbit” is a hilarious command to me. How isnt it common sense to keep the ship in orbit? The fact that Grievous had to say that is funny to me
coz droids r dumb
I feel like it was a demand rather than an instruction.
The B1’s are just that stupid lol
Well the other droids had either started running away or trying to blast the two Jedi, so Grievous is reminding them that somebody needs to pilot the ship.
It's clearly a reminder for the droids, and you know how dimwitted the B1s are
you know as much as much more imposing and power-walk prone Grievous is in the cartoon series, I sometimes prefer this original depiction of him as a conniving and almost pathetic looking cyborg, the way he's hunched over and rubbing his hands together or keeping them close to his chest like he's always sneaking around
The weird accent is charming too in a goofy villain way
Su aparición original fue en la serie animada de 2003.
Your lightsabers will make a fine addition to my collection
General grievous should have had appeared more in the clone wars tv series and hope to see him in future Star Wars projects set during the galactic republic
Annoying how they depicted grievous in the movies. You read up on grievous and do research he is no one to mess with he took on 6 Jedi including 2 Council members killed 2 injured the rest all by himself it’s a shame they wasted such a badass character in my top 5 for sure
I guess you could say he got rusty
The General has racked up a Jedi body count somwhere between 67 and 83 throughout the Clone Wars (including comics, Tartakovsky's Clone Wars 2003, and Feloni's The Clone Wars.)
That's nothing to sneeze at.
But yeah I agree, I wish they'd done just a little more with him in the film. The 2003 Clone Wars conclusion occurs just hours before the start of this movie, where Greivous is abducting the Chancellor on orders from Sidious (a neat bit of drama illustrating how deep Sidious plays both sides). That's when Windu crushes Greivous' chestplates, crippling him.
This actually happen in that Clone War micro-series from 2003 which was meant to bridge Ep2 and Ep3. His very first appearance he takes on Ki Adi Mundi and Shaak Ti and couple of padawans all at once and demolishes them. Dude was absolute beast in that micro-series, which is why it was kinda disappointing George decided to nerf him and make him cowardly villain for some reason in the movie.
