I've had zero issues with the upgrade. As for the lights and air I'm not sure I follow what yer asking. I've run headlights spot light and foglights a/c and haven't noticed any major drop that the alternator couldn't handle. The accessory lights are led so not a big draw in power if thats what your looking for.
@@weshawkins7165 I will look into exact years when I get home and will get back to you. I cant remember off hand if they changed anything over the years.
I did a little digging and from just a search on Oriley's the upgrade I did probably won't work on the 88 xj. The part numbers are not compatible and it appears the connection on alternator is different from the 1988 to the 1998.
I got a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4 x 4 4.0 straight 6. Driver side rear drive shaft axle bearings went out I'm getting ready to pull it out and press new bearings on right along the side of the road at the hotel while my company has got me out down the road working..... If you have any helpful advice or hints please let me know......??????
@@ASwordOfTheLord if your talking about the outer axle bearings behind the brakes go get a 5lb harbor freight slide hammer, rear axle bearing puller, bearing race and seal driver. These tools will make it a 5min job I literally just did both of mine. Also go to autozone for the bearing part# 6408 and seal part# 8835a. Mind you the parts are for a chrysler 8.25. The Oriley's bearing isn't a direct match so dont use it. Tool cost all together is around$170.00 save cost and rent them if you want from parts store but I bought mine because having the tools when I need them is just my thing. Small tub of bearing grease and some diff oil and yer back on the road. Dont remove the spider gears. Just pull c-clips and slide out axle shafts slowly. Red scotch pad and a few cans of brake clean to clean surfaces were bearing go. Hope this helps! Good luck but with the right tools simple job. 👍
If you would have used the Dodge 130 amp it would have been a direct replacement for the stock 90 amp with no modification. Did you go through the alternator wiring and upgrade that from 90 amp to 130 amp gauge along with change out the fuse in the fuse box?
I'm running the jeepcables big 7 wiring kit so it has better amperage cables to everything. As for the fuse no.... I didn't think of that but I've had no issues with it since doing this swap so it never really crossed my mind.
its oddly reassuring seeing an XJ with upgraded battery cables and alternator that still has that slight bounce in RPM at idle. mines been doing the same and was worried it was a bigger issue. at least I can assume that those two upgrades won't necessarily "fix" that. Seems to be normal behavior for these
@@nextweeksadventure I bought a 96 xj with 88k miles .. I changed the starter, alternator and battery and I still have no crank start.. would you know what the issue could be

Nice. Clean. I’m doing the same upgrades. Alternator and the power steering following your directions. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
Great job!
Hard to believe no one makes a bracket kit to fit the bigger alternator.
If they do I haven't seen it. Sure would make it easier.
No ticking, fired right up!
Now that you've had it in, how many lights do you run with the air on at night?
Thanks.

Just found your video as I’m thinking of upgrading the alternator on my 88 Cherokee. What year, make and model is the upgraded alternator for?

Thanks for the info.
Did you upgrade wiring? I skipped around and may have missed you mentioning that. There was too much rambling. Also might want to add chapters.

I have 99 Jeep Cherokee sport and I would like to upgrade it from 90 amp to 130 amp , can you tell me which model of Dodge I should buy it ?

Did you use a durango alternato or something else?
It was just a off the shelf 120amp cherokee alternator. But with the higher output its a larger housing.
@nextweeksadventure ok, thanks. Your videos are awesome 👌
Must be diff on the 4.0 for the cherokee ? for our ZJ grand cherokee, a 136-150 from the v8s fits fine no modifications ?
If you do any grinding of the new alternator, the warrantee is canceled…
Never touched the alternator all mods are to the bracket only.
@@nextweeksadventure excellent!!! I can’t wait to do it myself then!
I tried the same thing but it was hitting the engine block I didn’t want to grind the engine block so I just put the stock on back in
