- Lots of people interested in what is in West Lakes (an artificial lake in a housing development in the western suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia just near where I live. So tried a few drops along the lake. Most of the lake is silty and full of bream! The inlet where cleanest ocean water enters is really the only place for video. No fish were harmed but a drone was drowned in getting this footage.

Justin mazing. When you're there in person it looks like that big island next door to the inlet is so clever it's so close but when you see it on the drain it's so funny it on the drone it's so far away.
Also I wanted to know why one side of the inlet was beautifully crystal clear now I know why thanks.

Wow! Surprised on how many fish are in there. The water looks quite clear. I wonder if many snorkelers go there on good days?
Clint it is really only very clear by the inlet when the ocean outside is also calm and clear so that nice water comes in. It soon mixes with the siltier lake water, not really worth snorkelling would be my view.
All that fish and still cant catch them...lol
Crabecam, what were you using as bait?
Probably pilchards or fish/squid guts I had at home. 👍
I found your video most interesting. The fish look very happy. When was the lake created? Be good to see more plant growth in some of the areas photographed. Do people fish and swim in the lake?
It was built in the 1970s. Clever design that allows for a one way way flow of clean seawater through inlet pipe to the ocean and outlet to the local port further away. It is popular for fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and there is a competition rowing course.
