    Yeah the game only feels fresh if I’m playing someone like ryu or certain characters like manon or aki at the highest level. Otherwise it’s just season 1.5

      Bless you for seeing the same. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills playing characters like Kimberly and I'm like "Cool...so I got 5 useless or situational changes and lost 6 combo routes. Awesome."

    If anyone can please explain why AKI is now considered good? From match videos ive been watching, she doesn't seem any different in terms of what she was doing before. Is it because of damage? Because it seems her defensive capabilities when she is cornered is still bad no? I don't know, please someone explain. Maybe i just don't understand the character but yea. Thank you

    It's obviously unreasonable to assume they would change the WHOLE game in a single patch. But I gotta say, I was hoping for more. This feels like it should've been 1 of 2 annual patches, rather than a single yearly patch. Hope that's the direction they take from here on

    I’m a Kimberly main and I kind of feel like she’s the character on the roster that flies under the radar. No one really talks about her except to say that she’s "good" but what does that mean? She hasn’t really shown out in tournaments, yet she’s not considered bad, but there’s also nothing spoken about her being notably strong. It feels like she’s so solidly mid no one ever wants to talk about her and few pros are exploring the character. It’s rough out here for a Kim main. I feel like she’s mostly ignored by the community. I could be wrong and am eager to hear other thoughts on Kim.

      Kim is not fun to play against and she’s a mixup character. All she has going for her is her character.

    As a Lily main I can definitely appreciate the changes and she feels more viable and importantly more creative and fun. Luke is still way too good but finally the numbers of akumas online is dropping

    The qol balance changes could have done so much in the time we were waiting

    I think the biggest issues Street Fighter 6 faced in season 1 are lack of character variety, Player expression and neutral interactions.
    All three of those issues are directly related to the overtuned nature of drive rush as a mechanic (raw or cancelled from a normal). Drive rush completely took over the meta to the point where it became stale very early on. It forces rushdown to be the only playstyle choice and makes all characters play so similarly. Where low forward was once a poke to condition and set up bigger hits in neutral, it's now the means to an end. Neutral ends as soon as a low forward is landed or is blocked.
    The fact that the developers left drive rush exactly as is and then went on to say they were surprised by how much expression the drive gauge has allowed is extremely disappointing to hear and completely off base. The drive gauge is a drive rush meter that feels like a prison forcing you to play one style.
    Capcom really needs to address this issue in the next patch. It's actually insane they let it rock this time.

    i dont think throw loops are the most detrimental system mechanic at all, id give that shit to drive rush hands down. This game could be exactly as it is now, except just without drive rush, and be ALOT less volatile than it is, and would be a bigger, or atleast more clear, skill gap and would allow players to be more consistant, and good players deserve to be able to be consistant without getting blown up by some lucky bullshit too often.

    They can’t wait another year. Game needs more changes. Jamie is almost unchanged except for his grab drink but then got insanely nerfed through scaling while still suffering from all his old issues.

    I think the game is pretty awesome, there is quite an influx of content, even BIson will be coming soon. The fear is knowing there might be another content drought mid-year, I dont really care that much that there are 4 season characters, but if that is the case it should be faster. 2 months and a new character

    Yes it was absolutely worth it an the right call. Just looking at their steams numbers since launch gives us an idea of how good a decision it was for a one year balance patch. It's a shame they'll be doing more than one but I have faith they'll be smaller in scope to compensate for the increase in numbers!

      same im also waiting to try Terry out. I think theres potential for him to be a fun character. In KoF id say hes the most comparable to Ken if comparing him to an SF character, but considering hes actually coming to this game, they will have to make sure hes differentiated from Ken so im kinda excited to see what they do. I think hes a character that has the potential to either be really good or shitty

    Feeling validated calling this patch mid.
    This is Season 1.5 + Wake Up Drive Reversal for many characters. Feels like they didn't want to rock the boat too much and ended up not doing enough. Kim basically feels the same with less options. Jamie saw a huge amount of changes and I haven't seen him since the patch dropped. Ryu feels exactly like he should have on Day 1 because the lack of holding a Denjin charge was one of my biggest complaints going back to the damn betas.
    I feel like they didn't do enough for under represented characters, buffed or kept high tiers largely the same, and these characters will start falling off the more characters are added until they just give up on some of them.

    No patch during year 1 was fine but not fine for year 2, so glad capcom fixed that.
    Also buff Chun :) everyone's mad overrating her this season, she was top 4 and now she's top 8, not top 2 like SOME people keep saying.

      fix her? How? Not much can be done, its more of a style issue. Some archetypes fit into the game better than others, i think she does about as good as possible. She keeps her medals thru rounds, does an absolute fuck ton of dmg with command grabs, what more can you do with her to make her any better? Shes still gonna have to approach the gsme the same way regardless. The way SF6 is, if one were to make the best char for this specific game, itd simply be a rushdown shoto that can also zone, its just the way the game is, its always gonna be harder for a char like Manon to compete in comparison, its simply just the design of the game. If your waiting around because you think Manon is gonna become some high tier, competitive character relative to the better chars in the game, your gonna be waiting forever. Shes the type of character where they would have to make something broken about her in order for that to happen

      its like, all kinds of ppl talking about wanting their characters "fixed"....look....its either, play and have fun with the character you like and master them for what they are....but u wanna compete even beyond that and be able to be better against top tiers? Then stop usin a bum ass character, thats all i know to say to you people. Every game has them, every game has bum ass chars and top tier chars, and Manon is a bum char and thats just the way it is. These chars are never gonna be top 5 chars in a game with shotos and what not. Every fighting game has an archetype that reigns supreme.

    Still watching, so idk if they mentioned it, Ryu can now do Ex Hadoken into Level 1. I think that's also pretty big of a buff for Ryu.

    Great call to save everything up into a hype release imo. Saving up and packaging future balance changes in with a character release seems like a good idea (not EVERY new char obv bison is way too quick)

    This patch was good except the for the run priority for ken is causing serious issues for EX moves and the run always coming out, they really need to fix this for ken :(

    Watched dreamhack today and saw a bunch different characters winning and doing well. Tried Ed today and the game and IMO the patch was great

    Why is Akuma free as Chun Li lol I’m getting 75% wins vs Akuma. I mained both this season, Chun li feels really good to me.

      I don't know, man I think people are just Akuma crazy right now. I say this because you run into him 85% of the time online. Plus, Dream hack is going on so I think people are kind of sticking with their mains until they can practice new characters. I've seen tier lists pretty much say the same shit from last season too but it's too early to tell. After 2-3 months we'll be able to tell. Also Ryu is in discussion with a lot of people as not being the WORST shoto. He's really good now. He went from bottom 5 to around top 10 at least.

      @@thatboytoni238 he's ridiculous man. He may be under Luke because Luke has some other tools a traditional shoto won't like Akuma. But Akuma def is better than Ken and Ryu. He literally does what they do better and easier.

      ​@@SHendrixx2 i actually dont think Akuma is better ultimately, its just that its alot easier for ppl to be successful with him than Ryu. But i actually think Ryu is stronger than Akuma in the right hands, and maybe Ken as well. Akumas damage may be kinda overtuned, but i feel like Ryu can open you up easier and once he does, just like Akuma, he can blow you up. Personally i think Ryus c.Mk is very good. I just think Ryus neutral is better than Akumas. Some of Akumas normals are very stubby and other ones easy to predict. And its def easier to blow Akuma up because of the lower health. I feel like he IS one of the best characters RIGHT NOW, but i think, as is, he will move down the tier list a little. But yea, Luke is still the best shoto and its funny how you see so many less Lukes now, i feel like ppl just hear the word nerf and just stop playing a character, not realizing Luke is still the strongest and still does mad dmg

      @nunyabizwacks6711 all of what Ryu does Akuma does better bro. It's even reflective in the frame data. Akumas health is what makes the matchup even manageable. Akumas gameplan is just simple but it works

    The ideas sound good, but I don't think Capcom executed well enough. System mechanics have NOT been addressed enough. Ex. 7:45 u still don't gain enough meter when someone like Guile is constantly throwing fireballs. Parry should never give less bar/meter than what's used to parry a fireball (when not holding). They still need to focus on more defensive options or remove so many guess situations.
    They really NEED to add more recovery to throws. If you make the read great, but if not, you should be punished! Some characters being able to block after a backdash on their throw attempt on wake up is ridiculous.

      Disagreed, if the opponent has fireballs and is firing at you but you lose no gauge for tapping parry at everything. Why should you take the initiative to get in on the opponent? Then you made zoning with fireballs redundant.

      3rd strike made zoning completely irrelevant because parrying gave you a net meter gain. capcom knows not to do that this time around

      @@girthquake33 I don't want a meter gain, I want it to break even. Being a strong zoner should require something other than getting it because u pick a certain character. If you aren't properly mixing up your tools with the zoning and I can parry all for them u should at least break even.

      @@manuelsputnik zoners in SF6 don't just have tools to zone. They also share all the system mechanics which automatically gives them the advantage. The idea is to make the opponent block as well. Parry was made to not have to block. If I lose with parrying and blocking what's the point if all u want to do is shoot fireballs all day.

      It doesn't do anything for her. bHP on block has too much pushback, you can barely get cLP after.

      @@Aggrofool You can time it to be +5 on block meaty by hitting with the last active frame on their wakeup which means you can medium command grab after and beat jabs! BHP being a frame quicker lets you go into ex juggle on hit which is hit confirmable and now does alot more damage (costs 2 bar but you get 1 bar back during the combo) than just bHP into hitgrab. Being able to threaten decent damage on strike makes the command grab stronger cause you don't have to condition them to block as much.

    If i were to compare this patch with the two big patches we received to Tekken 8, I would have to say that they both feel pretty similar. Tekken 8 made a lot of adjustments to characters and mechanics they felt werent performing how they intended, or could use some fine tuning to help towards the overall balance of the game. The only difference between the games is that it took T8 Devs just short of 4 months, it gather the data, listen to the community, and make a lot of solid changes that I feel the community felt mostly satisfied about. SF6 devs decided to make the community wait through a whole year of playing with a game that in a lot of areas felt they needed major improvements to help with balancing. In retrospect, this patch was underwhelming and very small for a whole years worth of data and community feedback. I would personally give T8 patch a 8+/10, and this SF6 patch about 6 or lower. There are still a lot of areas that feel need adjustment, primarily Drive Parry (imo), and if I had choice, i would definitely remove throw loops entirely. Like they nerfed backthrows, didnt hurt the characters who have throw loops, but hurt the characters without throw loops A LOT and weakens their offensive pressure after they managed to get out of the corner post throw loop. Drive parry needs more recovery. Perfect parry should be a forward input or some way that forces the player into a real commitment in punishing the opponent with a parry like the majority of other fighting games that have any sort of parry system. Some characters could possibly be overtuned and underwhelming still, but who knows? If the changes i hope for happened, those super strong characters or characters who seem weaker may actually play differently in matches because the abused mechanics have been removed or nerfed. Anyways.. my take. Thanks for the video

    I wasn’t really worried about character changes, the main thing I wanted was changes to drive rush, and that junk is literally untouched in this patch which blows me away.
