That plane looks perfect. Please let me know if you ever decide to sell. That’s exactly the plane and setup I want.

My avionics shop says they have not had good results with the GAD-13 and OAT. They said the OAT worked but winds were erratic and didn't match real winds. What has been your experience since you posted this?

OAT placement is very important on Garmin equipment. I like to mount the OAT in the bottom of the tail area preferably behind an antenna or vent or under the wing. you don't want it in direct sunlight, near the prop or exhaust. Garmin uses an algorithum to calculate altitude compensated temperature that takes air friction into account. If you have other raw data OAT probes on the plane they will not be accurate at altitude reading lower temps than the Garmin OAT. The only time I have seen errors in the wind speed / velocity is after making a steep turn to a different heading or descending though a temperature inversion. It will take the system a few seconds to see the changes and correctly calculate the wind problem.
