Fun facts: Eli (with an assist from Layne) provided the arrangement. He also created the graphics in the background and built (with help from his wife and sister-in-law) the wall behind the group, and assembled/found the other set pieces. He directed the video as well. This was shot at Vu Studio Orlando, the same place as Valhalla Calling, but this time they had working air conditioning. The costumes for this video were the ones that Geoff ordered for Sleeping in the Cold Below. They arrived too late for that video shoot, so Geoff offered them to be used for this one.
The Cyberpunk bit is due to it being in the Cyberpunk video game. It’s one of the songs you can hear on the radio.
So glad you explained it that way regarding VP not trying to copy Soundgarden’s version. I really like this cover and the glitchy parts. Caesar really showed his range on the lower end, which I love. Eli brought in his rocker voice, which I really love. Anthony killed it with those riffs. Of course, Layne and Geoff did their magic with bass and percussion!
Yes - I thought Cesar's start was just especially gorgeous here. And ELI! (sometimes all caps is a necessity for him). Meanwhile, Layne was putting out all sorts of cool sounds - including that ending inhale that reminded me of what a Black Hole actually 'does' - sucking everything in! They also gave this so much extra interest (for me) in the vocals. Then again, I was not especially enamored with the vocals in the original. Most importantly to me - they really gave me that feel of the distorted instrumentals of the original. That was the part I liked most about the original song.
As for a tribute to Chris - I kind of feel Eli was meaning him when he sang "No one sings like you anymore..." There was just such emotion at that point.
I love this version because it just gives you that flavor. They hit you with the music, then you can kick back and breathe, then WHAM... Mind-Blown!😊

I like their karaoke music at the end. It makes it easier to hear the guys not singing the lead at the moment. The video is terrific!
