I just subscribed to your channel last week, and having watched nightb**ch tonight at the cinema with my boyfriend, I was eager to get home and listen to other perspectives, so I'm really glad to see you posted a video on this movie. My boyfriend wasn't a fan at all, but i loved it and really appreciated the body horror. As a woman planning my future and where children fit into that, the real life body horror of pregnancy and the changes that come for women even after birth is such an overarching narrative for me, so I felt so seen when it was expressed very well in the metaphorical symbolism of the canine transformation. I interpreted it as her fighting the dog transformation, aka motherhood, then embracing it and finding happiness that came with ceasing the fight to be the artist / human woman she once was. I do agree the marketing was poor, but i think the film would massively suffer without the body horror. Pregnancy is true body horror for so many women, and i feel that in this story, this needed to be represented. I suppose it also helps that I hold a degree in canine behaviour and work as a dog trainer/behaviourist, so the dog element spoke to me on so many levels 🤣
Stay at home Moms is a great genre to explore. Such joy, such frustration! Can't wait to watch Amy Adams. Always stellar. Sharp Objects is her best, imo.
There is a movie called “Ruby” I think it might be on Hulu about a new mom who thinks her baby is working against her to kill her. It’s very very well done and makes sense. There is also the true crime case of Andrea Yates which is such a horrific sad story and if it had happened now it would have been treated much differently. I wish people talked about that case more.
Fabulous film, I do hope it makes a profit. Mysterious - she may or may not become a dog. I was waiting to watch through my fingers but didn't need to. The dogs are wonderful - freedom of being an animal.
They are pushing for Amy Adam’s during awards season and so think possibly the Oscar and for that reason it could be that pushed it out to all movie reviewers and they succeeded because you are reviewing it! I love your take and I could be wrong, just m.o. ❤
This is a great channel keep up the great work. Not sure if u have mentioned belzebuth in your videos. It is an amazing horror movie. With a great cast. Definitely check it out.
I've only seen the trailer for this movie and I want to see this movie real bad just because I see some similarities, being a SAHM. I'm hoping it's not too bad lol and I do love Amy Adams.
Just know that it's not a horror movie. It's a Drama/Comedy, and a pretty good one at that. Amy is fantastic in it, i just don't understand why it was marketed the way it was.
@splattercastpod I'm not picky about movies, I'm almost always willing to watch one once but I'm wondering if it's almost like Teen Wolf, which I feel like was a metaphor for a male going through puberty, maybe this movie is a metaphor for a first time mom...either way I am looking forward to it 😊
I am not watching any horror at the moment I'm watching cruel Summer -which by the way I love and also I want to recommend the best adaptation of Charles Dickens A Christmas carol which is the 1951 one. The movie was intended to be supernatural and scary. Other than that what we do in the shadows is the only other horror I'm watching right now.

I agree. I want to watch it again I watched it when it came out years ago on HBO and it's still one of my highly suggested series.

Yes. The theater of the mind is probably where this should stay.

I saw the poster for this movie I thought it might be a horror and then I watched the trailer and I was like huh so I might skip this movie
Well, you skip punctuation, so it tracks.
sounds like a dfsney movie like the shaggy da
I love Amy Adams, but I think I'll wait for this to come to netflix or hulu. I only go to the theater for true horror.
