The reason why valve's servers disable clientside mods is because clientsided mods, while solely cosmetic, have been used to enable literal wallhacks. It's surprising what a clientside mod can do with a little malicious creativity.
And it achieved nothing because cheaters can still use wall hacks, along with aim bot and other cheats. Ever since this change the cheating has only gotten worse. So we lost mods and gained nothing
Yeah, and instead of you know, them disableing the function to draw materials on top of everything else, they shotgunned the entire modding scene, even reanimation mods are technicly not allowed, TF2 just won't unload them from ram until you turn off the game.
Hello! I am a developer for Lambda Fortress: Community Edition! (We're planning on breaking off into our own mod entirely, because of how absolutely mad this mod has became in such a small amount of time) I am also the one who designed the Enforcer, Jerry, John Freeman, and Repressor classes. These are, at the moment, unfinished classes that have planned mechanics. We are up for any kind of criticism so we can make this mod a fun and unique experience! By the way, look forward to a whole revamp of the hl2 campaign. Adding new rooms, new enemy encounters, and probably more. Making the Water Hazard, and Highway 17 chapters actually fun to play is also on the agenda. (There are also some custom campaigns being worked on the side) also there's mvm :troll:

Crazy news! As of ~2 days ago, it turns out that custom models *are* completely possible in Casual. One of the summer update patches that fixed a crashing bug when using custom models has a weird side effect. After the patch models are able to be loaded into casual, but mods made before about yesterday will appear invisible because they still have their textures blocked. Custom models can be seen in Casual either by using existing textures from the game, OR by sneakily redirecting the model's textures into one of the "allowed" texture folders like the ones used for custom backgrounds and HUD elements. ~5 mods have already done this as of today and it seems like gamebanana is kinda blowing up with hype, everyone's frantically trying to figure out how to port their stuff to casual right now. Big things are happening but it's just gonna take some time. I'm really hoping that Valve is too lazy and aloof to patch this one
2:14 Whenever somebody mentions Jonas, I always think about how in FUNKe's A Hat in Time review he brings up getting banned in the Gearrs for Breakfast tf2 servers
the roblox mods specifically the "typical colors" or tc2 mods are pretty cool attempts of porting the visuals of a group of roblox devs that tried to make tf2 in roblox called typical colors 2, tc2 is still being updated and a lot of stuff has been added like a camera for spy that temporarily allows ur teanates to see a targetted enemy through walls which is interesting, ive played its personally not my cup of tea but id certainly recommend ppl to give it a try
Parkour Fortress is such a great mod, I've spent many hours trying to get new PBs. Huge shoutout to Screwdriver and the PF crew for keeping it alive after all this time!
If you didnt know, you can use client side mods like weapon viewmodels (yes like a eyelander weapon mod etc) models and animations by putting "map itemtest; wait 10; disconnect" in your autoexec
Best quote ive heard about tf2: "Valve thinks me using turkey medic is a bigger threat than the bots who have been tormenting casual servers for the past 5 years straight"
My favorite clientside mod is actually the flat-chested fempyro mod. The other, well known fempyro mod just looks too unrealistic and too extreme. In short, too big boobs and butt. The flat-chested one is perfection to its core imo. I also use an addon that fixes props, which should appear for taunts but for some reason, don't. It's pretty useful.
9:45 Opposing Co-Op: For those who don't know, Half-Life: Opposing Force was an expansion pack of Half-Life 1, similar to what Half-Life 2's episodes are. And Opposing Force had a Deathmatch mode, similar to Half-Life deathmatch. Opposing Co-Op is probably similar.
"And with Mecha The Slag moving his priorities toward creating the indie game, A Hat in Time-" Yeah, 'cause _that's_ the kind of bombs that we just _casually_ drop on the Richter Overtime channel! What the heck, I had no idea the creator of Parkour Fortress directed A Hat in Time!
Me neither! I was mid nostalgia trip since i haven’t seen parkour fortress gameplay in easily 8+ years and i heard that and was completely shocked! Went from creating a goated TF2 mod to a goated game
The only 2 mods I really ever use are Bot Overhaul (which works pretty well in terms of generating navemeshes, but doesn’t fix problems like the opposite team being able to tell you’re a spy just by bumping into you even if you aren’t cloaked) so I can play TF2 without the anxiety of being having to interact with other people, and Highertower, which is Hightower but Higher.
thanks for just casually dropping that the creator of parkour fortress also made one of my top 10 favorite games of all time totally didn't blow my mind or anything
I'm legitimately surprised so many people didn't make the connection that Mecha the Slag made A Hat in Time. Of course, not everyone knew Mecha's real name. But yeah, that's why SLAG Gaming just slowly fizzled out over time. He got too busy with AHiT and let the servers go downhill. It's sad, but in the end we got a dope game out of it.
I haven't played in years (since 2018) so I didn't experience ANY of this. Im thinking about reinstalling it but I have a few questions about the bots: - Will the bots give my PC viruses, malware, hack it, etc. - Will the bots hack my steam account? - What exactly does the bots do besides aimbot and spam? -Which maps and servers are safe to play on? - Are community servers save from the bots or is it worse? -Is it save to privately play with just AI bots?
is is honestly FASCINATING how much advances in tools we have, like aftereffects, photoshop, blender, etc., have improved the average quality of p0rn on the internet, game mods included. just 12 years ago, when Skyrim first came out, making entirely new meshes for mods, instead of ripping professionally made assets from elsewhere, was still rather rare.
I know why TF2 modding kind of changed over the years. TF2 server pluggin moding used to be huge because Valve didn't have their own servers at launch, so community was the only option until official pubs (and later casual) became the forefront. Clientside modding was also big back then because Valve didn't moderate it until 2015 with sv_pure being added to said official servers after they overtook community servers in popularity.
1:15 hes using the fempyro mod Edit: I did not realize he would later show it again like 5 times I thought I was some kinda detective for catching the first one 😭
Okay to be fair there's actually a good reason to not allow client side visual mods since you could use it to make every model always visible through walls or make the spy visible when he is cloaked.
Yup. Of course people will try to move the goalpost in response by saying “B-b-but cheaters can get around this by downloading cheats.” By that very same logic we should stop arresting criminals because other criminals can find different ways to commit crimes.
so many hours on baloon race despite being an actually terrible map (even by memey map standards) there was something so simple yet so entertaining about that era

Parkour maps were the jam a whole decade ago. I remember from time to time me and my mate used to troll people by standing behind the red doors so they couldn't be opened.
It’s crazy to see that the guy who created Parkour Fortress created A Hat In Time (AKA An Absolutely Amazing Game With Absolutely Amazing Characters And Absolutely Amazing Levels And Absolutely Amazing Mods And Absolutely Amazing Mechanics And An Absolutely Amazing Story And An Absolutely Amazing Soundtrack.)
8:48 that melee weapon is literally a melee weapon from dead rising 2 that is an axe + a sledgehammer. ik it's an axe + a bat now, but if you SAW the weapon i'm referring to you'd clearly see the resemblance.
7:03 this was my dream when I was little, I always wanted to do something like this in tf2, and I can’t believe it was an actual thing back that, I had loved half life and tf2 and portal and all of that, but I never knew there was an actual game mode for that, also, nice choice of music here, the fukin boss theme from PvZ lol
I still feel giving some attention to the new sentry waifu Mimi given this version seems to be making steady headway around the community with I guess you could say a more universal appealing appearance. Seems mostly popular in TF2 Blender animations
The reason why this kind of mods doesn't work casual official server is some point in back in the early times people able to textures or replaces skin model able to do that in the official server then after and like few months later people started to making cheats like see through the texture or players outline mods which was cheating since there are able to see other player location. From both team. And that is why velve changed those features now only thing that works in the official server is the animation and huds. I may be totally wrong but that is all I found out when I was trying to figure out how to use mods.
I think client mods are not allowed on official tf2 servers because they can give unfair advantage (for example first thing that came in my mind is strange player models that stretch out the way you can see where an enemy is before they turn the corner, which is an unfair advantage)
Years ago I played a bunch of Pony Fortress 2, which gave each team a pony-themed Saxton Hale with a class gimmick tacked on (like spy's invisibility or scout's double-jump). The pony heroes also had ultimate abilities which buffed their teammates. It breathed a lot of new life into the game and could have probably gathered popularity if wasn't exclusive to a single server, and had a less controversal theme.
BTW pure exists because you can just change every texture to be seeable through walls vacproof, also you can just change some basic packages too to bypass pure but that's mostly a lost art. Most reason TF2 modding died is because community servers mostly died too, most just use casual for many reasons or goes to 24/7 servers.
Finding out the guy behind a hat in time was a tf2 player makes me incredibly happy. He lived our dream of making a whole game about hats and parkour god bless him
Person that had made some skins in the past for TF2 on gamebanana here - thing that mostly killed skinning community from gamebanana, was mostly Valve adding more content that made our work pointless Here is a mostly example of what i mean - Australium Guns, around 11-12 years ago, there have been a "Boom" of making Autralisum Skins over teamfortress -> even Myself i manage to get part of that Cake... #2 most downloaded Loch-n-Load skin there

0:42 THAT ANNIHILATORS A BLOODY AGENT
Ah yes, the pyrocynical mod.
Parkour Fortress is such a great mod, I've spent many hours trying to get new PBs. Huge shoutout to Screwdriver and the PF crew for keeping it alive after all this time!
you know where i can find it?
If you didnt know, you can use client side mods like weapon viewmodels (yes like a eyelander weapon mod etc) models and animations by putting "map itemtest; wait 10; disconnect" in your autoexec
Due to this, i finally had a excuse to use the hhh because the viewmodel sucks
Best quote ive heard about tf2: "Valve thinks me using turkey medic is a bigger threat than the bots who have been tormenting casual servers for the past 5 years straight"
My favorite clientside mod is actually the flat-chested fempyro mod. The other, well known fempyro mod just looks too unrealistic and too extreme. In short, too big boobs and butt. The flat-chested one is perfection to its core imo. I also use an addon that fixes props, which should appear for taunts but for some reason, don't. It's pretty useful.
I agree
you are definitely in the minority of fempyro mod enjoyers
@@norasthegoat I see you're a man of culture as well.
@@bewisoffical They seem more down-to-earth, even if it's a game that is literally anything but down-to-earth.

“Old habits die HARD” -Richter Overtime
Ending the video with the Re-Volt N64 intro theme was a nice punch of nostalgia, good taste.
I downloaded a mod that replaced the mannrobics song with the National Aerobic Championship Theme from 1988. It was the best mod I've ever downloaded
link?
@@avyyhl il try to find it
Hey I've seen some things I've made mentioned in this video! I made LFCE and also that smg sten gun mod for scout
I know this dude. He is my friend.
This mf took LF:E and made it very ep1c!!!!!!1!!1!!1!1
9:45 Opposing Co-Op: For those who don't know, Half-Life: Opposing Force was an expansion pack of Half-Life 1, similar to what Half-Life 2's episodes are. And Opposing Force had a Deathmatch mode, similar to Half-Life deathmatch. Opposing Co-Op is probably similar.
"And with Mecha The Slag moving his priorities toward creating the indie game, A Hat in Time-"
Yeah, 'cause _that's_ the kind of bombs that we just _casually_ drop on the Richter Overtime channel!
"Client Mods don't work in casual"
Fempyro: Allow me to introduce myself
8:03 group hallucinations guys, its a normal pyro
Oh god
Ah ok, thanks for telling me
Yeah you're gonna need to make a follow up on this one, someone found a way to make mods work on casual.
1:13 that pyro model in the corner bro 😳
1:12 Hey I think that heavy is me!
The potential of a tf2 story game, where you go through levels as the classes in a way maybe similar to attack defence could be insane
10:42 the two obvious reasons
1. simps
2. simps
thanks for just casually dropping that the creator of parkour fortress also made one of my top 10 favorite games of all time totally didn't blow my mind or anything
I didn’t expect to see a mod turning the demo man into the Roblox typical colors variant.
At the moment, the community is making casual compatible mods, which is sth very new and interesting to say
I haven't played in years (since 2018) so I didn't experience ANY of this. Im thinking about reinstalling it but I have a few questions about the bots:
- Will the bots give my PC viruses, malware, hack it, etc.
- Will the bots hack my steam account?
- What exactly does the bots do besides aimbot and spam?
-Which maps and servers are safe to play on?
- Are community servers save from the bots or is it worse?
-Is it save to privately play with just AI bots?
Nah the bots only aim bot and spam they can’t rat your pc or do anything even remotely like that. They just ruin lobbies
@@RichterOvertimeok good. Cause in a video called TF2 bot crises explained in 60 seconds by Slidefn, it mentions a virus at the 12 second mark
Great video, modding community is always awesome. RE-volt credit music is a nice touch
is is honestly FASCINATING how much advances in tools we have, like aftereffects, photoshop, blender, etc., have improved the average quality of p0rn on the internet, game mods included. just 12 years ago, when Skyrim first came out, making entirely new meshes for mods, instead of ripping professionally made assets from elsewhere, was still rather rare.
1:49 there was a mod that reskined player models so you could see them through walls.
11:21 There's no reason for anybody to suspect that I have downloaded this...
HELLO HI!!!! I MADE THAT!!!!
0:47 that image is golden
1:15 hes using the fempyro mod
Edit:
I did not realize he would later show it again like 5 times
I thought I was some kinda detective for catching the first one 😭
i play parkour fortress weekly for YEARS since it came out. so happy you gave it some attention. amazing video 10/10
Great choices of background music!
Okay to be fair there's actually a good reason to not allow client side visual mods since you could use it to make every model always visible through walls or make the spy visible when he is cloaked.
Yup. Of course people will try to move the goalpost in response by saying “B-b-but cheaters can get around this by downloading cheats.” By that very same logic we should stop arresting criminals because other criminals can find different ways to commit crimes.
would love to see a video on some classic comunity maps like harbl_hotel and the mario kart one full of old memes from 2007.
I did a vid on Mario kart a long time ago but it’s a bit shit I might redo it eventually
Harbl hotel is a masterpiece
so many hours on baloon race despite being an actually terrible map (even by memey map standards)
there was something so simple yet so entertaining about that era
video aside.
atleast someone still remember's Re-volt.
gotta love hearing the menu screen while choosing your RC-CAR and map.
man i miss that game
Dude I just commented that, havent touched this game for over 15 years now, but I instantly knew where i've heard this song before
i had a sonic mod for tf2 and for the spy it didn't work right so the spy's head was still visible when cloaked... oops
Had a ragdoll mod where if killed, your body would flip out and fly everywhere hitting stuff and if you keep killing more people it becomes complete chaos
Does anyone know what the revolver animation mod at 0:05 is called
yes

NAH NOT THE TYPICAL COLORS DEMOMAN AT 0:42
There is a sort of co-op in the game already on the community servers and it's called mvm Machine Attacks
Parkour maps were the jam a whole decade ago. I remember from time to time me and my mate used to troll people by standing behind the red doors so they couldn't be opened.
I remember seeing the see tinh taunt in the store, and it was just a work of art
You have great music taste mate, I spot that The Social Network soundtrack around 2:41
I need a compilation just of Richter saying „Good Evening“.
Parkour Fortress is a really good reminder that Titanfall was made on the Source engine.
Is that doctor from the game Typical colors 2?!
1:13
Aye mate.. why the Pyro built like that?
It’s crazy to see that the guy who created Parkour Fortress created A Hat In Time (AKA An Absolutely Amazing Game With Absolutely Amazing Characters And Absolutely Amazing Levels And Absolutely Amazing Mods And Absolutely Amazing Mechanics And An Absolutely Amazing Story And An Absolutely Amazing Soundtrack.)
Richter, don't you dare escape, what did you do with your fluffy bunny VOD?
8:48 that melee weapon is literally a melee weapon from dead rising 2 that is an axe + a sledgehammer. ik it's an axe + a bat now, but if you SAW the weapon i'm referring to you'd clearly see the resemblance.
7:03 this was my dream when I was little, I always wanted to do something like this in tf2, and I can’t believe it was an actual thing back that, I had loved half life and tf2 and portal and all of that, but I never knew there was an actual game mode for that, also, nice choice of music here, the fukin boss theme from PvZ lol
Well now I have to turn spy tf2 into Adachi persona 4, if i can mod i should
I still feel giving some attention to the new sentry waifu Mimi given this version seems to be making steady headway around the community with I guess you could say a more universal appealing appearance. Seems mostly popular in TF2 Blender animations
“Babe wake up .new richter overtime video just dropped.”
Fr tho I love tf2 mods and I’ve been thinking about getting mods recently so ty.
Also spy’s cloak being rendered useless or disguised spies appearing to the enemy team like how they appear to their own team.
So many good memories on balloon wars, achievement_engineer, freak fortress 2, and especially slender fortress...
12:12 - re-volt Menu Theme.
Yes. It's that weird PS1 game I tried once on an emulator and never again
Finding out the guy behind a hat in time was a tf2 player makes me incredibly happy. He lived our dream of making a whole game about hats and parkour god bless him
Tbh i use cilent mod as heavy saying pootis every time you kill a guy
Person that had made some skins in the past for TF2 on gamebanana here - thing that mostly killed skinning community from gamebanana, was mostly Valve adding more content that made our work pointless
Here is a mostly example of what i mean - Australium Guns, around 11-12 years ago, there have been a "Boom" of making Autralisum Skins over teamfortress -> even Myself i manage to get part of that Cake... #2 most downloaded Loch-n-Load skin there
Hell, just watching my old Gamebanana submissions, i noticed i still had a PC running 4:3 aspect ratio screen
The end credits song hit me so hard, as if I had just played re-volt on the ps2 yesterday....
From time to time you recognise some random song instantly, because it played on some MTV Snowboarding game for the ps1...
(btw it was "Fear FActory - Cars" , for anyone that even played this game)
Honestly I like the idea of TF2 having some sort of linear campaign mode, just minus all the weird extra stuff.
Thank you for informing me that the guy who made a parkour tf2 mod, also made one of my favorite indie games, a hat in time.
The most strange mod was discovered by a small UA-camrs name Pyrocynical, he discover this unusual mod on August 27 2022 in which his main mercenaries Pyro become wider than usual. Also he suddenly stop in the middle of stream, is it because his mod stop im from looking at it or is it something else?
0:42 a knee heal ate our from tc2
