    Good information! Great job. Couple suggestions:
    1) I did not notice it mentioned that a cadet sponsor needs to be the parent/grandparent/guardian of a cadet.
    2) Many types of membership were mentioned, but the Aerospace Education Membership (AEM) program for educators is a unique opportunity - maybe can be included in a next video!
    Thanks (I am Director of RR for MN Wing)

      I was thinking of doing an overview for additional membership opportunities, so I will take your suggestions under consideration! Additionally, I have made a note of the cadet sponsor member requirement in the video description. While I thought I mentioned it, it seems I did not! Thank you so much!

    I have been officially invited to attend my first CAP meeting (SM) on February 1. I am looking forward to it, but I have a question....as a senior member, what is the difference in duties or responsibilities between an officer senior member or an NCO senior member? Keep up the great work in providing this material! - Phil

    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  2 роки тому +4

      Great! I hope your first meeting goes well! The difference between senior member officer and NCO is that the NCO side requires prior or current military service as an NCO. NCOs typically serve as advisors on the different echelons given their service experience, and they wear insignia on the shoulder instead of the collar on ABUs and shoulder on AF-style blues. Most members join through the officer side. Specialty tracks and the professional development (called Education & Training in CAP) are the same between officer and NCO.
      Happy to help!

    Do male seniors still need the traditonal grooming standards? For example short hair? Are any squadrants lenient or is it strict? Thanks

    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  19 днів тому

      There are different hair standards between the corporate and USAF-style uniforms. The USAF-style is more strict, as we must comply with the US Air Force’s hair requirements. Hair in general should still be well kept. CAPR 39-1 outlines all specifics, and all members are expected to comply with the standards.

      Thank you, @Tanya Guido! I've made a few ES videos which might help, and there is a video on specialty tracks. Now what if you where a Cadet Captain in JROTC and joined as a senior member?

    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  Рік тому +1

      Unfortunately, JROTC experience does not translate into the senior member program. If you have documentation of obtaining Cadet Captain, you could try asking for equivalent credit to a Cadet Captain in CAP, but I haven’t seen anything in regs that would allow that. You can check CAPR 35-5, but I didn’t see anything about JROTC there.

    How does one go about the process to become an NCO instead of an officer without being a prior NCO

    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  4 роки тому +2

      Currently, members can only become NCOs if they have prior or current experience as an NCO. I believe NHQ will take steps on making the NCO path available to all members in the future, similar to the officer track, but it may take some time.

    Quick question: I ordered tactical shirt. Regulations say it should be blue. It looks blue on Vanguard website, but shirt arrived is black. Not dark navy, but black. Do you have any guidance on this?

    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  2 роки тому

      It might be the material for the shirt. I believe the non-tactical golf shirt looks bluer, but it's a thicker material. Unfortunately, I think all tactical golf shirts are currently being manufactured the same way and have the same color as what you received. The only advice I can give is that you could contact Vanguard and see if they can do anything about it, but there might not be anything.

      @@Applecompuser After being a member for 6 months and completing the onboarding training, you would promote to 2d Lt, CAP. Civil Air Patrol aligns with the same grades as the US Air Force, such as the use of Captain and Major. For each promotion, there are increasing responsibilities, in addition to training and duty position requirements.

      CAP is a volunteer organization, and there aren’t any requirements on what career or academic background you come from. The historian specialty track may be of interest to you if you want to blend CAP with learning about the past. There is also aircrew and emergency services, where you can do land navigation or fly in a plane to support missions.

    • @Redberryweo
      @Redberryweo  3 роки тому +1

      The first step would be to see where the closest unit is using the CAP unit locator, which is on the gocivilairpatrol website. Then you will find contact information for the unit, and you may reach out to them. To join, you will have a unit membership board, 2 fingerprint cards to complete and send in with your application packet, and verification of identity with the unit commander or personnel officer. As a prospective senior, there is not a minimum number of meetings to attend to join. Prospective cadets must attend at least three meetings before they can join.
