Good stuff! Just finished Level I. Need to take on Part 1 of Level II now. Then to launch my Specialty Tracks…ES will be a big part of that. I have been invited to observe a SAREX at the end of the month. It’s all moving pretty fast and is exciting. Thank you for your insights. Keep it up! - Phil
I already submitted my application to be a potential cap member. Thank you for the motivation. My question is where would I fit in with a first responder background?
Congratulations! Happy to help. In emergency services, you could support as a ground team leader (GTL) once you have your ground team member 3 (GTM3) completed. If you have a first aid evaluator certification, your new unit might appreciate you setting up first aid training, which is a requirement for GTM3. Welcome to CAP!
Thanks so much for the intel! I’m a prior cadet and now former USAF pilot looking to get involved with CAP again as a senior member. Unmanned Aircraft/Drones. Is that a part of emergency services?
I'm not sure I understand your question- CAP does not have a homeland security officer position, but normally it's the state-level ES officer that coordinates with homeland security efforts.

This includes: 1.) Works closely with the other operations staff officers to prevent duplication of effort and to ensure CAP presents one clear voice to potential Homeland Security customers. 2.) Develop agreements and maintain contact with state and local emergency management officials pertaining to HLS. Ensures coordination with unit Emergency Services Officer regarding requirements. 3.) Works closely with Emergency Services Officer to ensure unit resources are capable of responding to appropriate requests in support of homeland security. 4.) Monitors CAP training to ensure the HLS program is adequate to include, proper equipment (cameras, computers and radios, etc.) and training to accomplish complete aerial and ground photo reconnaissance mission requests. 5.) Monitors unit procedures for rapid alerting and assembling of unit personnel to support homeland security tasking requirements. 6.) Monitors unit homeland security evaluations, training missions and exercises. 7.) Know CAP’s homeland security responsibilities in all operational areas. 8.) The homeland security officer should be familiar with CAP regulations in the 60, 62, 66, 77 and 100 series; and applicable federal, state and local MOUs
@@navalnationalguard534 Given what the regs say, then the answer to your question is yes. There is no specialty track associated with HLS officer, and the HLS missions I have seen have been relayed by an individual who primarily does ES responsibilities.
I stumbled on your video looking for info for new members. Good job overall, but your comment about MP is incorrect. MO is not a prerequisite. MS is a prerequisite for all the aircrew jobs you mentioned. You did not mention TMP(Transport Mission Pilot) and MS is not required for that job.
My wing has a soft requirement the MP have MO. You are correct that MO is not required, but it is strongly encouraged for the mission pilot to understand the MO responsibilities, thus why MO is good for MPs to have. Since this video is just about GES, it was not intended to go in-depth about the aircrew and affiliated air qualifications.
Just want to say thanks for doing these - they are great! I will be sharing these with my cadets...keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!
It would be cool if you did a collab with another CAP member!
no

Happy to hear, Phil! Glad you're onboarded and making progress.

Yes, it is! GES is the first thing to do with the Emergency Services program- Hope you enjoy getting back into the program!
Yep! SUAS is starting to get more traction here in INWG
Done so well, thank you!!!
Thank you!
If you go to NESA is it possible to achieve GTM 3 and 2 the same year?
Does the Homeland Security Officer work in conjunction with the Squadron's Emergency Services Officer?
