    Hebra is only called Death Mountain outside Japan. In Kamigami no Triforce (Japanese A Link to the Past), Death mountain is only used for the Dark World version of the mountain. Now they'll probably keep Hebra globally and made Eldin Volcano return to be Goron's home.
    Maybe Hebra is still a volcano, just not in activity.
    And we always had quests and side quests in Zelda, we just didn't had a quest log menu tracking their progress.

      @@darkdagger5237 Twilight Princess had Death Mountain, which was the same mountain from Ocarina which was called Hebra in the beta as well as Death Mountain, going back to ALBW.
      Skyward sword was the first time to call the volcanic mountain "Eldin Volcano", and that was death mountain. Twilight Princess merely called the region and the light spirit "Eldin".
      ALBW went out of its way to further reconcile hebra and death mountains from newer entries by making it a volcano.
      It is with BOTW where the big retcon happened, making hebra a separate Mountain, and echoes goes a step further by calling the other mountain "Eldin Volcano". If they call Eldin Volcano death mountain in-game, which seems to be the intention with it even having Goron City, then it's a retcon.

      I never brought up the Skyward sword Eldin volcano I was talking about the Echos of wisdom Eldin volcano.
      Death mountain/Hebra has been a volcano since the series started. In Zelda 1 there were constant rock slides and in Zelda II there was lava in that mountain it was a volcano.
      Since lone peak Death mountain has never used the name Hebra since the Ocarina of time beta the name was free to be used for a different location in Breath of the wilds. Twin peak Death mountain however has always used the name Hebra since the release of A link to the past (at least in the japanese version) this means that its not a retcon its a timeline difference.

    Eldin Volcano has only been seen in one other game; Skyward Sword. By the time of OoT it's just called Death Mountain, but we learn in TP that Death Mountain is at least within the Eldin PROVINCE.
    And given the line about Hyrule Castle being on the 'Central Plateau', and knowing that Botw/Totk (which EoW is heavily tied to) says Hyrule was founded on the Great Plateau, I'm very willing to bet this is pre-OoT. Or pre-Botw but post-Era of Myth. It's clearly a 'Long before some other stuff' game, I just can't tell which era it's taking place at the beginning of.
    Edit 1: Missed the part where you pointed out it's most likely not on a plateau

    • @JaidynReiman
      @JaidynReiman 3 місяці тому +2

      Don't forget, there's two mountains. The other mountain was known as Death Mountain in the western release of LTTP, it was Hebra in Japan. And that mountain was never volcanic (it wasn't really snowy either, but we did find Ether Medallion up there which is an ice magic). They might call it Hebra here, but perhaps calling the new volcanic mountain Eldin is to distinguish it from the other being Death Mountain in the west?
      I have huge doubts this is pre-OOT. The earliest I can see it being is pre-LTTP. The problem is, well, Ganon, obviously.
      There's three positions it can be in, IMO:
      Between OOT and LTTP
      Between LA/Oracles and LBW (least likely)
      Post-LBW and pre-LOZ
      However, given how little this game is nodding to LBW, I suspect the aim here is to tie it closer to LTTP. So currently I'm leaning on pre-LTTP. But we'll see.
      It does seem to be mostly combining elements of OOT, LTTP, and BOTW/TOTK. Overall I'd say its clearly most closely tied to LTTP given its literally the LTTP world map.
      Though you could argue there's a slight nod to the Oracle games as well, because of course we have the River and Sea Zora distinction. Probably the first and only major direct call out to the Oracle games we've ever had. Yes, there are names borrowed from the Oracle games in the BOTW/TOTK map but that's still pretty minor.

    • @darkdagger5237
      @darkdagger5237 3 місяці тому +1

      If I recall right your theory was that the Master sword pedestals are all the same structure. So how do you handle the fact that all three Master sword pedestal structures are built in different architecture styles connected to different eras and are facing different directions?

    • @RyuuKageDesu
      @RyuuKageDesu 3 місяці тому

      @@darkdagger5237 My main map theory is that the different maps do line up, and the world is more stable than many give it credit for. My pedestal theory, while older, has become a sub theory within the larger map theory.
      As far as the style of pedestal, I'm leaning towards facades that get added to it, and decay away. As far as the location(s); If Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess involve portals, which we now see the Zonai used in their shrines, all other locations line up. In both cases, Link needs to open a protected doorway, and walk through it, to access a chamber that seems vulnerable to being accessed on the opposite wall. Ocarina of Time has the window that Navi flies through at the end, and the entire back wall is busted, in Twilight Princess. It also explains why the location couldn't be found by enemy forces, by simply by going around back.

    • @darkdagger5237
      @darkdagger5237 3 місяці тому

      @@RyuuKageDesu I agree that all the maps line up with each other however I disagree with the unified pedestal theory.
      I don't see how the facade theory solves the structure rotation problem because the entire structure including the Master sword pedestal face in different directions. The pedestal from A link to the past faces south, the pedestal from Ocarina of time faces west and the pedestal from Twilight princess faces southeast.
      I think the biggest problem with the facade theory is Twilight princess because that Temple of time is built in the architecture style of the era of the people of the sky (localized to the Ooca) and contains technology from that era and shows no signs of a facade in its ruined state.

    • @RyuuKageDesu
      @RyuuKageDesu 3 місяці тому

      @@darkdagger5237 If a facade is occasionally added, altered, or decays, it only addresses the issue of them looking different. And, being a facade, there isn't a real limit on any style that could be applied.
      The portsls, on the other hand, would not be limited by directionality. You could enter facing north, to exit facing any other direction.
      On top of that, I don't think structures changing direction between art styles is a big issue. Otherwise, you would need to explain why all Hyrule would exclusively have South facing doors during a particular era, but not in other eras. You would have a point if something went through a similar change between BotW and TotK. Comparing the 2D to the 3D, not so much.

    • @darkdagger5237
      @darkdagger5237 3 місяці тому

      @@RyuuKageDesu A facade is built around the original structure which means that the original structure must still be there however in Twilight princess the Temple of time is ruined to the point that we can see the inside of the walls its the same structure all the way through. If its style difference was a facade then we would see that its a facade because the original structure would be visible where we can see the inside of the walls.
      The interior and the exterior of the structures align with each other which debunks the portal theory.
      If it was just a case of 2D to 3D then you would have a valid point however since the rotation is different between two 3D games my point still stands. Art style alone is not enough to ignore which direction the structure is facing.

    It is surprising that all these races have been shown but no Rito have been. It could be due to the timeline and they just don't exist. No Korok either, but we do have Deku Scrubs❤
    I assume we will be getting a new villain, but I have two theories of who it could be. Less likely, but I think it could be Vaati. I'd love to see him rendered in 3d. I know minish were wanted in BotW but couldn't get worked, maybe this game they sneak them in? I haven't seen any clues though hinting at their inclusion. My more likely theory, and it is based on the visuals, is the return of the windfish (or a new leviathan) that Nightmare is using to creep into Hyrule in order to get revenge on Link.
    Bonus, but not really a theory, is we get the return of the Twili since we are getting so many returning races.

    Its interesting how one of the big differences of the map here we kept noticing was Link's house... and yet the map we got from Nintendo actively shows Link's House, or at least what is probably Link's house, in the exact spot it should be in LTTP. Its missing in the trailers, but it might be missing because it was somehow taken by a rift and its not missing because its a completely different era.
    It being called "Our House" is kinda funny, though. Why would it be called "Our House?" It could make sense if Link was the main playable character, but it almost implies that its... Link and Zelda's house? Why? It doesn't make any sense lol, she lives in the castle.

      Interestingly, I still see the haunted grove just each of the ranch on the map. So as I thought, the ranch is in the location where South Kakariko was originally. Kakariko has moved west a bit, which is one of the biggest changes we have seen of the "original" LTTP map. The "original" LTTP map appears to mostly be intact, with almost all of the vanilla locations still there, we just now have new regions west, east, and south of the vanilla map.
      North is questionable, but its possible they expanded the Lost Woods north a bit.

      Yeah I've been thinking the Suthorn Forest Temple/Shrine is the first dungeon, and the one Zelda starts out in. It appears she escapes, then comes back again with Tri and completes it as the first dungeon. This dungeon seems to be where she acquires the Bind ability as well, unless Bind is actually unlocked in Hyrule Castle.
      Probably more accurate to say that Zelda starts here, returns to Hyrule Castle, the rift swallows up the king and he and the guards probably get replaced/controlled, she gets thrown into the castle dungeons, she escapes the castle, then heads back to the same temple she started from as the first dungeon.

      I assumed it would appear, but I only just realized that platform is the same Desert Palace entrance from LTTP. We just can't see the actual entrance. That's so cool.
